I purchased this Emersons 80 Series non programable thermostat a while ago and just replaced it with a new furnace and ac unit. It replaces my older White-rodgers thermostat. The holes to mount it, are the same. Looks the same too. Exactly what I wanted. It was easy to install with the newer wiring terminals. It is working as well as the old one. Great thermostat!

Replacement of my White-Rodgers Thermostat

Accurate response to temp. settings. A bit of a nuisance to re-wire this newer version of my original White-Rodgers thermostat.

The thermostat works fine. I thought the backlit feature was on all the time but it only comes on when you’re changing the temperature. If you don’t hit the buttons directly in the center it was stick they will stick other than that it works fine and accurate.

Installed beautifully over predecessor-model space. Easy connections. Works just as it should. All OK.

Works great and easy to install. Simple is sometimes the best. Set the temp, heat or cooling and turn it on! We’ve had the product for about a month now. Shipping was efficient and arrived quickly.

I had this thermostat at a house I was renting. Had to move and bought a little house with a horrible thermostat in it. Brand new, well known brand...but switches so small and no back light...had to use a flashlight to read the temp numbers!!! So bought this, at a good price, and had it put in. I love the simplicity and features. Don't need a fancy programmable one, this one is GREAT!!!

Thermostat works great! Installation took @15min, not too difficult. Basically just had to identify colors and match them to terminals (after turning power off). In my case, this was a near identical replacement of a White/Rodgers (now Emerson) thermostat that I replaced 19 years ago. Pretty good quality to last that long.

Exactly what I was hoping to buy

Our old thermostat we've had for many years started having not working right, and after some struggling we realized that we had to replace it. I wanted as similar of a model to it as possible since I struggle with adapting to different things than what I am already used to. This thermostat is basically identical to our old one, well, thankfully even more simple as our old one was programmable and we never used that option, it just made it more confusing in the end when we were trying to fix it. We replaced the old one with this one and within the day, finally no more temperature problems ; ) It has been working nicely so far, feels good to have the air more fresh and maintained again.

installation of this is straight forward, match up the color wires with the color text on the inside plate of the thermostat. it is accurate within ± 1° . there is no WARMTH to the thermostat it is a simple switch mechanism to turn ON/OFF heat/air conditioning it has no WARMTH.

Anyone could do this. Mine only had 4 wires. And there all color coated. Great price for what I thought would be a head ache. Just do this your self. It's easy.

If you are looking for a digital, accurate non-programable thermostat, this is the one. I never programmed my old one and operated it with the on/off switch. Finally I got this. Accurate to 1 degree and has a 5 minute delay to keep you system from quick-cycling. Hard to install as others note, but through trial and error I got it to work. The diagrams leave much to be desired, not all options are considered. But great one I got it wired up.

Great Thermostat

We had this thermostat in our house for over 20 years and it finally gave out. Thankfully, we were able to find the exact one. We tried different brands and styles including programable thermostats but didn't like them at all. So if you're looking for a long lasting, basic on/off, heat/cool I highly recommend this thermostat.

JUST THE BASICS

If you don't want or need a programmable or internet connected thermostat, this may work for you. It's just a basic heat/cool control with none of the frills of newer models. If the wires from your control module include the COMMON wire (24vac return) at the thermostat mounting location, you don't need batteries. If you only have the basic four wires and need batteries, you can expect long battery life with this thermostat.

Easy to set and read.

I bought this for our RV because the one we have had in the house for a number of years is still going strong. I especially like this model because the set temperature and the ambient temperature are displayed at the same time in large numbers, unlike some other thermostats that display only one reading at a time. Please note that if you are looking for a programmable thermostat, this is not programmable. Also, we use these thermostats for heating but not for cooling.

This was bought to replace a White-Rodgers 1F86-444 which the room temperature display stopped working (White-Rodgers is a division of Emerson). It installed quickly and easily - note that you need a mini phillips screwdriver to secure the wires. The room temperature display seems to be accurate compared to the 2 other thermometers I brought in the room. I manually turned on the fan and it worked. As far as operating the A/C - well, it's winter here in the northeast so I haven't tried that yet, but I expect it will work since this seems to be a direct replacement for the W-R unit. UPDATE - We've been through 2 summers since its installation and it ran the A/C just fine.

I called White-Rodgers (Emerson) and was told this was a direct replacement for the discontinued model I had. They were correct down to the mounting holes being in the exact same location. It even has the red jumper wire pre configured in the proper location. After powering down the AC/Heating system it took a whole 10 minutes to do the swap. It probably would have taken less time if I did not have fat fingers. The written instructions are not very helpful unless you know how to read schematics. The best thing to do is take a cell phone photo of the old connections and match them up on the new one. The only bump I encountered was the fact that my old one had screw head terminals where the wire is shaped like a "C" and secured under the screw heads. The new one has terminals that grip the wire inserted into a port on the terminal and then the screw is turned until the inner jaws clamp down on the wire. Easy to do, just different from the original. Make sure to have enough of the plastic insulation removed to expose enough bare wire and give each wire a gentle tug to make sure the inner jaws have gripped the wire securely. Update- Winter is almost over here in Texas and it worked well controlling the heat.
