Great Timer for lights! Much better than dusk/dawn

My Application f the product was for Shore lights. The lights needed special timing, On 60 min before sunrise then off, On 45 min before dark, off at 1:00AM, It had all the features needed to accomplish the job.

I am a 36 year electrician and last 28 years of that Lic. I have used DOZENS of these. I have used other brands and they are NOT reliable and have caused us go backs. Some say the programming is hard. I can tell you all these type are a bit complex, so that negates another brand being better because of that. I suggest if in doubt, find a YouTube video on it. They explain in a way that you should have no problem with your programming.

Great product, solves many problems

This is truly a genius piece of technology.-- especially the inclusion of the Astro feature. It's truly a 'set it and forget it' scenario -- on at dusk, off at dawn, and tracking the actual dusk and dawn times through the year. Like another reviewer here, I spent most of my career as a technical writer, and I totally agree that the installation instruction need improvement. I was able to figure it out, but it took quite a bit longer than it should have. Four stars for a great product with no so great documentation.

Tricky setup, stellar performance!

Installed three of these about ten years ago, residential porch/exterior light fixture switches. No more, "Did you turn the lights on?" at night.... or "Did you remember to turn them off?" in the morning.

I replaced my 20plus year old driveway lights timer with this brand-new item and it was a perfect fit. Compact, modern looking with a small display window and a little bit of flair, I like it!.

Good, Reliable, but you'll need help!

Used it to replace an old one that wore out. Once you program it, works for decades. But programing it is about impossible from the directions, I spent about 2 hours trying to program it, no luck, called Intermatic and they'll talk you through it. Works good, with help.

Fine but not perfect.

The product works fine. No idea why it work with a CR2 battery instead of just keeping it programmation via the battery when there is a power outage. The programming of the 40 entries took a long time to do and a replicate programming function on ON-OFF pair would have helped.

Acceptable in-wall timer

Replacing a15+ year-old Intermatic with this unit was straightforward. Legacy design uses AA battery, current model requires far less common CR2 type. Programming is more complicated for newer system and instructions are vague at best. I've wrtten technical manuals for 20+ years, Intermatic needs to improve this model's user documentation. Astronomic feature is nice update, though implementation is mediocre. Of the mainstream in-wall timer choices, this is average offering.

Works well but programming somewhat challenging

The screen is hard to read (had to use a flashlght) but the timer seems to work fine. As instructed, I programmed the timer before wiring it into the wall. That helped but the programming instructions are not the best. The manufacturer's Utube video helped,

Bought my third timer.

I started using similiar in wall timers years ago for outside lights. When I switched to cfl bulbs the bulbs flickered. The timers were not compatible. So I went to these timers because they were compatable and the flicker stopped. Cob led bulbs eventually replaced the cfl bulbs. I bought a third timer to replace the old electro mechanical timer in the garage. Once the programs are set I just need to replace the batteries every year or so.

Works great and is easy to program.

This timer works perfectly and is a great way to make sure outside lights come on and go off. It's a big help in home security.

Works with any type of light bulbs (because its' a mechanical on/off switch, not an electronic one) 3. Battery typically lasts several years 4. Automatically adjusts to the seasons, On at Dusk, Off at Dawn or Set your own times 5. Works with both single or three-way switches Negatives: 1. Battery tray is a little difficult to remove 2. High-Power Lithium Battery, CR2, 3V can be a little pricey.

We've had one of these for the last 9 years and the push button had an issue. We purchased this one to replace it. The timer is a great way to set the outdoor lights and forget about it.

Reliable switch with a replaceable battery

I use these switches to control various outdoor lighting. This is the third one of these I have bought. The first two have been in place for over two years and have worked flawlessly. This most recent purchase was to replace another brand that didn't have a replaceable battery. That battery had failed causing the switch to lose memory if the power dropped for more than a second. What I like about the Intermatic ST01 is that the battery is user replaceable. Incidentally, the original batteries in the first two units are still in place and working. Programming of the switch requires some attention to detail but is relatively easy once the battery is installed because the programming can be done before final installation. Installation may be difficult in some shallow boxes just due to the size of the switch.

Good value. Same product as when new.
