My installation was for a millivolt (thermopile powered) natural gas furnace. The OFF/HEAT switch has exposed guts on the back side of the thermostat PCB (facing the wall). In my situation, the installer attached the thermostat to a plaster wall with long wood screws and without using expanding plastic drywall anchors. This is arguably poor practice but not uncommon in a real world. Plaster dust from the upper mounting hole fell into the switch and mixed into the grease over time, interfering with the contacts. I cleaned the switch and covered it with a piece of paper and scotch tape to prevent this problem in the future, but that switch remains a source of concern. This is an inexpensive thermostat and therefore popular with contractors, but you get what you pay for.

Milivolt Tstat

This is a good millivolt tstat. When they eliminated mercury switches from thermostats it caused a problem finding a good inexpensive thermostat. This thermostat has worked well for me in millivolt applications. The anticipatory must be set to the lowest setting on top of the small post for best results.

Simple low voltage thermostat that performs well

Product is used with an older gas furnace stove. It works as expected. Delivery was delayed because the carrier mis shipped to incorrect address so it was a few days late

Not good as a millivolt thermostat

I've tried this thermostat in 2 separate installations where a millivolt thermostat was required. Even though the description says it can be used for MV applications, my experience was that it does not work reliably for that purpose. I tried using it for a gas fireplace and it functioned intermittently, sometimes working, mostly not. Replaced it. Tried it with a wall furnace, and it didn't function at all. Tossed it out. If you need a millivolt thermostat, try getting one that is specifically for millivolt applications.

I like this particular thermostat because it makes a click sound when I adjust to the on position.

Awesome product

I purchased this item about two years ago for my husband, he does home improvement projects. We never had any problem with this product so that's why we decided to purchase them again.

It works

This is the most basic, cheap thermostat. It works! It does all that I need it to - turn a heating circuit on or off, reliably. However, the little red bar that is supposed to show you what the temperature actually is in the room - is a total waste of time. It's operated by a simple expanding spring that was not set correctly, and can't be adjusted. When it's 68F in my room, it reports a 90F temperature! This cheap addition spoils what is otherwise a perfectly good inexpensive thermostat - ideal for a guest bedroom.

This replaced a Honeywell (not the round kind) which I thought had become defective, but now I'm not so sure because I found a loose wire when I wired this thermostat in. Installation was easy. An on/off switch was mandatory and this has it. The level to set the heat temp is way too loose...you can move it much too easily, no resistance at all, which makes it difficult to adjust it just slightly. The heat runs for a very long time when it kicks on. There's a time adjustment inside but I have it set as the user manual recommends for mV heat. I'm probably going to put the Honeywell back up and see if the tightened wire has fixed the issue. If not, I'll stay with this, but I prefer the Honeywell.
