Reviews
The "white" color is really light grey - but that's fine with me. It matches my tub chair - same brand and color they are both "antimicrobial." I LOVE the textured handle. My last bathtub bar was metal and it rusted. This one is well made. It should last a long time - no rust!
I love this, it fastens to the tub so securely and no suction cups. I actually should have gotten one sooner and it is not just for older folks, it is for everyone - I feel so much safer with this. No complaints or suggestions at all, except GET ONE!!
Wasn’t sure if this would attach and hold properly on our fiberglass bath tub but it fit and held very nicely! My elderly dad was able to enter and exit the bathtub safely. As long as one doesn’t use the handle to pull them selves in it will work just fine.
Easy to use but not suitable for a lot of weight.
This is the second of these I've had. Hopefully, this one won't crack as quickly at the pole base by the tightening knob. It seems to crack over time when too much weight is placed on it instead of just using it to stabilize while stepping in and out of the tub. I wrapped the crack in my last one with duct tape to support it until I could order another. Also, the item picture originally was blue, this item was listed as white in my cart, the picture on the box showed white, but it is actually a light gray. My previous one was the same.
Very heavy and well made
Received mine today and got it installed. Yes, it is a light blue in color - but that didn't matter to me. It was easy to unbox... ready to install and fit my old tub perfectly. And it was easy to tighten down - for us older peoples - that is important too. Very heavy duty - which it needs to be.
I Wouldn't Rely On This As My Only Support
This is a great product. Extremely simple to install, looks good, is made well and works as a grab bar. It is a bit short for me meaning low to grab onto. Although I like this product I wouldn't feel safe utilizing it as my ONLY means of support. Put it together with a couple of wall mounted grab bars and this product is an excellent choice.
Oval tubs are limited, but possible.
This grab bar is heavy duty, but not very heavy to lift. I am pleased with its’ sturdiness. Unlike some grab bars, I am not afraid this one will fail me in the middle of a transfer, causing me to fall. I have an oval tub.I am therefore, very limited in where I can position this bar. It must be in the straight portion of the side of the tub. It works for me, but may not for other oval tub owners.
It attaches securely and it is very safe
I wouldn't claim nor expect it to get me out of the tub because that is a function of ones ability to get up by oneself (own stomach muscles. I am very scared of slipping and falling. However, this bar has helped me in and out of the shower very very safely.I had a bout of vertigo last week, and boy, this handle helped me feel safe before I would call for help when wet and naked. I was able to hold on until it passed. A total saver. it attaches to the side of the tub very strongly and securely.
This is the one!
Our bathtub is slightly angled inwards but this model fits it securely. We liked it so much we bought two- highly recommended. We tried a couple different products but had issues with others being too small or too slippery. This one is a good size with a textured finish that gives you grip when wet.The only downside is that the color is not true white but a light gray in actuality, but on the flip side it does help visibility by standing out against our white tub.
Sturdy and Easy to Install Grab Bar
I bought this product for my parents' bathtub and was concerned that either one of them might fall. The bar I was looking for was one that was easy to install where I did not have to drill any holes on any part of the tub. This grab bar does not disappoint in performance or installation. I was able to install this easily with the adjustable clamp. The key is to make sure the clamp is opened wide enough to be able to fit over the ledge of the bathtub, and to make sure it is tightened properly. My mother was a little skeptical of using it but it she was surprised at how it was able to support her getting in and out of the tub. She couldn't believe how sturdy it was. If you are looking for a good grab bar I would suggest giving this one a try.
makes one feel safer, but description could be more accurate.
Installed it on a fiberglass tub by using a long and thin piece of plywood on the inside of the tub as well as the outside thereby distributing the clamping force over a greater area. Works great and is very sturdy that way. I still would recommend to only apply as much clamping force as needed to keep it from moving as it might be possible to break the tub. Description states it can be used horizontally or vertically which I do not understand as I think it can only be mounted one way. If there is another way, a picture showing that would help.
Super sturdy safety grab bar that works!
I purchased this grab bar due to its high ratings. I had a section type bar in the past and it kept slipping off. Due to several surgeries, I absolutely have to have some thing to brace against to get in and out of the tub. This one works and it works really really well! I highly recommend this for people with bad backs, hips, and knees. You will not regret this purchase as it makes getting in and out of the tub a much safer experience. The attachment is super sturdy!

Home safety is to important, especially as we get older. The Medline Bathtub Safety Grab Bar has greatly improved our confidence getting in and out of the bathtub. Attaching it was a breeze. After using it a time or two, we decided to slide it down a couple inches. Relocation was simple. Just unscrew the knob and tighten it again. It has remained sturdy ever since. We highly recommend this product.
Decent equipment
My elderly folk is about 110 lbs and uses this device to "assist" in getting in/out of a standard tub. She DOES NOT apply all her weight but just enough to assure that she does not fall. Therefore, please take this into context that it will most likely, like most similar devices, hold the whole weight of a person and is to serve only to assist. With the aforementioned, this product is a hard metal/plastic which appears to work for now and have not had any issues. I would recommend this item to "assist" people in getting in/out of a tub.
What a great replacement
I had a bar sort of similar to this, but it had a nut on top that you needed a wrench to tighten down. I guess I push kind of hard getting up and eventually the bar would stop being flush then lean so I’d have to loosen the nut and get it flush again. Eventually I got fed up and tried to tighten the nut as much as I could....But the nut stripped...This is hand tightened with a wheel system on the side. Just hand tightening and it stays secure. It is also wider on the tub so one side will never lift up...I also like the feel of the hand grip. You get a solid grip that I doubt you’d ever slip while raising or lowering like the bare bar could have. All in all I’m glad I needed to replace my old model. This is much better.
A must for security
This is a must for anyone old! Unless you're Jack LaLane, so you have an idea of how old I am. I admit to being a bit unsteady, especially climbing in and out of the tub. This dandy gadget is the best thing I have ever had for stability, including the permanent installation of metal bars in a handicap equipped tub. It's easier than believable to install. It stays sturdy and tight. It gives me the sense of security that I need to bathe or shower at home alone. I placed it so that it can also be used to help me get up from the toilet. And, I can easily take it with me if necessary. I recommend this product wi with no reservations.
Sturdy and helpful
This grab bar was recommended by my Occupational Therapist to assist me in getting to my chair in the bathtub. It was indispensable when I was non weight bearing on my ankle, and is still helpful now that I can put some weight on my leg. It adds safety to my movements. I may leave it on the tub even when I'm fully functional as an extra precaution, since my tub surround doesn't allow for installed grab bars. I really recommend this grab bar for ease of movement, safety, and confidence.
very easy to attach and sturdy
I have two issues that make this safety grab bar very useful. One is a bad knee, sometimes I can barely bend it. This makes it interesting to get in and out of the high tub shower combo we have. Sometimes I have to bend over and sling my leg straight out of the tub. Grabbing onto the side of the tub can be slippery and low. And sometimes I have balance issues, between the two it can be scary to get in and out of the tub to shower. Since we rent we can't install a permanent grab bar. Most of them are against the inner wall anyway to help get up from sitting in the tub, and don't really help me with my need to get out of the tub and onto the floor. The Medline grab bar is very easy to install and very steady, it doesn't wobble at all. The slightly rough texture is great to hang onto and it feels super solid. I can get in and out of the tub so much easier. We have it at the edge of the tub so I can lean over, grab it, and swing my leg out without having to bend my knee. Highly recommended
