this unit is a spare to the original. I use the W1436 to regulate a spa hot tub. In summer I have it set High (88.3o F) Low 85.1o F). the unit will turn the power off to the heating element if the sensor detects out of parameters. easy to program. the unit is outside and protected from the elements.

Willhi 1436a - wifi Temperature controller

I did not realize the unit I bought was wifi controlled. I was able to make it work after 2 hours of fiddling with the Google app store (a pia) downloading from my pc because google adds prevented the download to my phone, then finally installing the app on the phone by copying the apk to the phone, finding it, and installing it. After connecting it to the wifi it was easy to change the settings. What I do not understand is the need for connecting it at all. There is a setting for bluetooth that did not seem to work. I have several of these controllers and they are easy to program via the keypad. Making it wifi did not make it easier, it made it harder. A bad design I will not buy agaon.

Good updates!

Updates are for the better. I had an older version that served for a few years and finally expired. I did not hesitate to buy the same as a replacement but it turns out to be even better. The plug feels much more solid since it is AC 110V only now. The setup is slightly different and, I'd say, somewhat unconventional but is easy enough to figure out. There is no heat/cool mode selection anymore. Instead the mode is selected automatically based on Ton and Toff selections. Overall, a good value and a good product.

best value in a heating/cooling controller

excellent temo controller with exceedingly accurate and tight control of temps. I use one in my dairy cooler and one in an incubator. You can use for heat or refrigeration. The setting instruction is confusing but once figured out is done. Amazing product for the price.
