packaging and assembly were good. the color description of “brown” is not even closes these units are nearly white like white pine without any stain color applied. very disappointed.

It's very practical and so easy to set up. Folding bookcases are right out of the box useable. Unfortunately I purchased the wrong color and it didn't work for my purpose. I gave it away and made someone very happy.

Nice Organizer!

I used this bookcase as a storage area for bins containing hair care products and other toiletries in one of my walk-in closets: I love the neat look that the closet has now and I can find things easily! I especially loved not having to assemble this; all it needs is to be unfolded and it is ready to go!

Excellent shelf

Beautiful wood grain (natural). Sturdy. Make sure the metal bracket is actually in the wood grove under the shelf. There are provided L-brackets that I almost threw away because they were attached to the bottom inside of the box, so be sure to check for those.

I am very pleased with the bookcases. The quality is excellent and the folding feature makes it so easy to set up. The stacking feature has metal supports to screw two units together. I am so pleased I have just ordered two more to do this stacking feature.

I've had one of these for years in my reading nook, and it held up to some brutal punishment. I needed a new bookcase for a different room in my home, and I was pleased to see they still made these. I would recommend it to anyone who really doesn't want to have to use tools to put a piece of furniture together. It's sturdy, and my experience is that it will last for a long time.

Looks very good. I would rate it as excellent, except that one of the side panels was warped at the very top so that there was about a half inch misalignment between the back and the side panel at the very top of one side of the case. It really isn’t noticeable with most ways the bookcase would be used. The problem is not worth returning the bookcase. I purchased two cases and the second one had no problems. Color and finish were just as pictured. Very good considering the price.

Pretty happy

I have a lot of books and a long wall that would make an ideal place for a library. I bought four of these to see how they would work out, then bought another four, and then another two.They look really nice. The chestnut color is a lovely golden brown. Very nice. The solid wood is reassuring and there is no assembly required, so you just unpack it, unfold it, clean up the packing materials, and then you are done. The shelves are a good size. A double row of normal sized paperbacks fit perfectly.Only two downchecks: They are they are very light and seem wobbly when you unpack them. I was worried they might not be stable enough to be practical, but once the books were in, they were great. The other downcheck are the pegs at the top. Their black color makes them very noticeable and cheapens the look. Maybe you can remove them, I don't know. But they don't just pop out with a gentle tug. However, I have put my huge coffeetable books on the top shelves so the pegs don't real stand out, so this doesn't even merit a markdown in stars in my opinion. Not for a solid wood library that fills a wall for far less than a thousand in total. Less

Wasn't *actually* fully assembled

I got two of these - one came out of the box as advertised. The second didn't - the little nubbies that the shelves hinge on were all unseated on one side, so all of the shelves came out. I was able to reverse-engineer how to fix it, but it was a lot more work than I was expecting (none), and required a hammer and Phillips screwdriver. Overall they're sturdy - do attach them to the wall - and attractive. The honey oak matched the color in the picture, which isn't always the case. They're packaged well, so shouldn't be banged up - the first one is fine with no nicks or dings. The second, I think was fine until the shelves fell out: as I wasn't expecting that I didn't protect the crossbars from it. I was going to give the shelves five stars before I unpacked the second one. Less

I have so many of these bookcases in my house you would think that I owned stock in the company. I like to change things around in my house from time to time and these folding bookcases make it very easy and they come in several stains. You won't go wrong if you purchase it and there is no putting them together only if you stack there is a bracket to make them sturdy if you want. Also there is a little bump or a hole according to how you stack them to secure it when you stack it without the brace and it works very well. I haven't put the brace on any of the ones I have stacked, and the stay quite well, because it makes it much easier when I am ready to move them.

These used to be good bookcases

The first folding/stacking bookcases I bought were great. They were square and sturdy when stacked, even when they were filled with books. I bought matching mantle tops that made the bookcase look complete, provided additional storage and helped to keep the bookcase square. The newest folding/stacking bookcase is flimsy in comparison to the old ones. When it was filled with books, it started leaning to one side and I had to add a brace to the back. It looks like it is incomplete without the mantel top which I am told is no longer available. Why would they continue selling the bookcase and stop selling the mantel top?

Our item came with a bent brace. The color of the finish was sooo rich and elegant. I was upset that structurally I couldn’t make it work. HOWEVER! I couldn’t be more pleased with customer service from Overstock. They helped get the return started right away and made it painless to return with full refund or replace. The customer service agent was so pleasant, helpful and apologetic. You would have thought she was personally responsible for building the piece incorrectly herself. It has made me way less hesitant in making future purchases with Overstock. I know that if I am not satisfied, Overstock will make it right!

I love this bookcase! It was so easy to "assemble". Basically pull out the hinged sides and the shelves just fall into place. It's lightweight, but sturdy enough for books on all three shelves and I love the fact that once it's full I can add another layer. I purchased the chestnut finish which is very nice.I have some maple and teak office furniture and it's a great match in my home office. It was nicely packed and arrived quickly, as promised, and without a scratch.

Beautiful, lovely bookcases

It's true what a couple have written - that these can be just a tad shaky. But they're from Thailand where things are not consistent! However, they're solid wood which is more than I can say for most things these days. They're beautiful and I love them. I have 1 a small bookshelf and 2 large ones. They're all perfect for what I want. And yes, I would purchase the same ones again!

I Purchased It Again!

This bookcase is awesome. Already assembled, just take it out of the box and put in place! I liked it so much, I just ordered another one. It is sturdy and excellent quality for the price. I planned to use this in my basement to store all my shoes and boots that were sprawled all over the place, just to organize myself. It's not just for books. You can store lots of small items that you have, too. I highly recommend this purchase.

After Superstorm Sandy hit our home we needed to replace almost everything. I had had some strong mission style folding shelves many years ago that I had given to a daughter and was missing having them for myself. After along search I found these shelves. I have two stacked and really love how the take up minimal floor space and provide quick access to books I use regularly in the den. The bonus was the color match of our cherry desk. As they lean back a bit I placed a few felt pads at the top to protect the wall. I look forward to an easy breakdown of the shelves if we need to move them.

Absolutley the best purchase I have ever made! I am a college student and this bookcase goes with me everywhere. If you are a book junkie like me and need a nice bookcase that isn’t an eye sore and that can travel with you as you move then this is perfect. It can hold a alot too! One shelf was dedicated to my textbooks only and it held up just fine. Seriously this is hands down the best thing I have ever bought. If my house caught on fire this is what I would save.

I love this bookcase! It was exactly what I wanted and perfectly matched the product description. The bookcase took about 10 seconds to set up and I was able to put it to use immediately. The dimensions and light weight made it easy for me play around with the placement of the item in my office. It arrived in great shape and in a timely fashion. I'd definitely buy another one of these (or several), and I recommend the product highly. Excellent value!

Attractive, sturdy, and stackable, but books slip when shelves are less than full

Attractive, fairly sturdy, and easily stackable (up to 2 high). The 27" model fit perfectly into the niche between the wall and an existing stack of bookcases. A nice practical touch are the barred ends, which keep books from falling out when the shelf is full. Only drawback so far: shelves are very slippery (due to the varnish), so when shelves are half-full, the books in the middle slide slide outward. Easy to correct with bookends, however. Overall, happy with these new bookcases.
