Sand Removal from Well Water

Our well pumps a small amount of sand. This Spin-Down filter does and excellent job of removing the sand. I changed the plastic valve to a stainless steel one for ease of operation. Very simple to periodically open the valve and purge the collected sand out. I installed two of these in series. The 60 mesh first then the 100 mesh.

Good product to remove sediment

Good product to remove sediment from water - installed on well water line before water softener. I can not believe the amount of sediment it prevents from getting into our drinking water.

Works fine

I had one of these for many years and the housing finally cracked and started leaking. Luckily the design has stayed the same and all I had to do was replace the housing while leaving the 'T' section in the line. Looks and works great again!

Whole house filter

We replaced an older filter system that connected to our well providing water to the house. Attached is a photo of the new filter & piping.

Seem like a great product

Using this for my well as I was getting some debris caught in irrigation valves and heads. So far so good at a much lower cost than other spin down filters. Only thing I didn't like is it took 11 days to get due to shipping method used, but it was free shi

Just what was needed

We have been experiencing a very fine sediment in our well water. The spin down filter with a 100 micron filter seems to do a great job of almost completely eliminating the sediment.

I've got a lot of sediment in my water. I use one of these as a 1st filter, followed by a standard whole house paper filter. I tried various micron sizes, and of course there is always a trade-off. A smaller size like 500 or 1000 will trap more junk, but need to be rinsed more often. I've settled on the 250 for my needs. When my well is really bad, I rinse this every couple of days. If I didn't have the Rusco filter, I would be replacing $7.00 paper filters once a week or so.Rinsing doesn't do a true backflush unless you plumb an extra reverse flow into the line. I decided just to have a second filter, so once a month I just switch them out so I can clean it. My drain line is semi rigid, so i use a PVC Union to quickly disconnect it.My original housing is 7 years old and doing fine. QC had the best price on the web, incuding shipping.

The filter cover is very fragile where the shutoff valve is connected. I had to buy the cover separately which was ridiculously expensive. The cleaning action by opening the value does not wash out the sediment accumulated on the filter very well. The unit is over priced. The filter gets dirty and get blocked in no time requiring frequent cleaning.
