Beautiful but poorly designed
We have two Metris E faucets. They are gorgeous. Both faucets developed difficult-to-turn handles (one hot, one cold) within a year. Hansgrohe recommended replacing the cartridge (at our expense). We replaced one cartridge, which did nothing to improve the handle issue (the cartridge we removed looked fine — no scale build up or other signs of damage / corrosion). The second sink’s handle could not be disassembled (plumber gave up after an hour of trying). Terrible design. Hansgrohe service was slow and unhelpful (much like their documentation). Avoid this faucet set like the plague. I wished we’d done some research before our purchase — there are numerous reports of this handle issue across the internet.

Hansgrohe ruined this faucet with the new escutcheon/handle engineering. Should have a separate retaining nut for the valve body. The way these are designed you need to remove the handle/escutcheon AND valve to remove the cartridge because the escutcheons will freeze and lock to the lower nut. If you are even able to remove the handle you will need to replace it. Hansgrohe is great about sending out new handle kits but replacing trim every time you replace a cart is a joke. Most higher end brands are doing this. Even CAL ??

This product looked good on paper, and looked just as good in real life........I had a plumber install, and it was not simple. This is not a do it yourself. Installed today............so looks good and functions well. But plumber says design flaw is that when you have to remove a handle (like to replace a ceramic cartridge), the flange underneath the handle is not designed so that it can be removed without damaging it........so hopefully it will last forever.

Great design and quality, we have very happy clients with this set.
Very difficult or impossible to service (my experience)
I just ripped out one of these expensive faucets and am getting ready to replace another. This is an extremely high quality faucet in terms of materials and construction, but the serviceability of the design is terrible. The flat escutcheon ring at the base of the faucet handle screws onto a hidden ring sitting on the deck and screwed onto the valve body. That escutcheon ring must be unscrewed in order to service or replace the valve cartridge. If, as was our case, that ring is stuck due to age and/or deposits, you cannot service the valve. This was the case on all four valves on two 5-yr. old faucets in our Master bath. At this point in the faucet's life, the valves had become very very stiff and hard to turn (wife not happy at all). Also, with this connection frozen and faucet handles not removeable, the only way to remove the faucets was to go under the deck and cut off the water line fitting and a pair of mounting ring tabs on the brass valve body with a Dremel cutting disc. Very challenging work and something I could only undertake having the right tools. This has got to be one of the worst designs for servicing I have ever seen. Very much NOT recommended!

I will say right off the bat, as in the user instructions, that if you really never work with any faucets and fixtures, that it may be safer to make sure a licensed plumber does the installation. You may overlook things, or misunderstand. But having stated that, this instruction booklet is one of the best I have seen. It is clear, and is as thorough as can be reasonably hoped for. The book earns that fifth star for easy to install. The smartly engineered design gets another star. The deciding factor may be if you need to ad the other holes in the mount for the handles. Single hole designs are available, but I prefer to have separate handles. Should you decide to do it yourself, you probably will not be able to excuse buying al manner of fancy and exotic tools and gadgets. It takes just three sizes of metric wrenches (I do not favor adjustable ones), a couple of screwdrivers and a metric hex key (Allen wrench). Hansgrohe knows how to manufacture high quality faucets using no-compromise materials. That is why at even this price, I give full marks for value. And it is easy on the eyes as well as the hands. It is EPA compliant, handling a strong water pressure to give a flow rate as high as 1.2 gallons per minute. The brass and chrome are easy enough to clean so that you do not build up soap residue and the gritty deposits from hard water, like I have cooking in the Phoenix canals under that tender summer sun. No harsh or abrasive cleaners, just use simple water and a cloth or sponge. I am reminded of the superior Hansgrohe fit and finish with each use.

This 2020 year model of the Metris Faucet seems very well made. It installs like any other standard faucet. The low profile drain pull rod is located at the back of the spout. It extends down below the counter top and connects to the drain lever via a connecting strap with holes in it. It is like what you find on most other bathroom faucets. The handles feature ceramic cartridges and their action is smooth and precise. All of the major components are machined of brass and have a heavy and weighted feel. This 3 hole design works best with 8" widespread layouts. The aerator produces a fine stream with little spray and splash. It has a strong flow at 1.5 gpm. The finish is very uniform and consistent. It resists spotting and cleans up nicely with a wipe down from a soft cloth. This is one of their older designs but has a classic modern look.

Beautiful and solid faucet but unit appeared to be used. main faucet’s threads were damaged, faucet was misaligned on base so stopper rod could not be connected and install manual was for another faucet.
Had this over a year...still love it. Easy to keep spotless, too.

I like the beautiful chrome faucet. They are easy to install yourself as they come with easy to read and understand instructions. The fittings are made of brass. You have to keep the handles clean and water off of them, as they will get gummed up from soap and hard water. I would guess they last a lifetime. The stopper comes out so youcan adjust and keep gunk out of the drain.

One of the faucet sets came with 2 hot valves - make sure your center hole is large enough for this faucet, doesn't fit many sinks due to this issue.
Great Product!
Installed this faucet in two bathrooms now and really like the quality of Hansgrohe.
