Let me clear the air a bit...

Very happy with the quality and aesthetics. After 8 years of ownership the locking mechanism "froze" up and I could not open the door. I was worried when I saw all the questions on here stating they could not get ahold of customer service. Not sure what that was about, I got right through to a tech with one phone call. I sent pictures via email and the tech answered quick. I ended up just taking everything apart to relube it. Works like a charm again. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these!

UPDATE: From a previous post. Sadly, this special order took way too long. Lost out on a $1200 profit. Home Depot refunded my money after waiting 10 weeks.

Definitely Secure

Quite the security screen. It is clever how it locks and unlocks. Solid and well made.

Third door of this type I’ve installed so it went okay all things considered. Unfortunately the hydraulic door closer which was included in the other door sets was not included in this. Customer service said the $1,100 door wasn’t a premium model. Told me I could order and install one after market. Good to know. I picked it up at HD so no delivery.

Security without the prison look.

We wanted front door security. So many door designs are obvious deterrents. This unadorned screen, in black, is just about invisible.

No clue what is going on with this order!

Ordered door on 8/7/24. Estimate arrival 9/27/24. According to Dennery Home Depot store left messages w/Unique Home Design prior to arrival date with no response. On 9/28/24, I personally witnessed Melli & Valerie call & send message to UHD I appreciate them for helping me locate my special order. I can’t move forward with my project until gate is delivered.

Amazing quality. Well worth the investment. However, it’s tricky to install, especially the locking mechanism. I request you higher a pro if you’re not skilled at installing.

Horrible door do not purchase

Purchased the door and within the year there wad an issue and had to be repaired. 3 years into the purchase and the door completely jammed. Trapped in your own home. Tried calling the manufacturer and could not get to a live person. Beware of this safety hazard. Home Depot sales person tells me they have been having issues with this door.

Lock broke in three months

This doors locking system is horrific! It was great for about two months and then I noticed the lock kept getting stuck. I was locked inside my house and had to pay someone to take apart the lock to open it. Paying over $1000 plus installation was such a waste of money for the door that looks cool but doesn’t lock. I contacted the company several times and they never returned my call and emails. A handyman I know said he has another client who had the same issues.

Delivery service was excellent at delivering the door to where it will be used. However, Jesse O. in the Millwork section of the San Mateo store was outstanding in working with Unique Home Designs in getting me Qwikset smart key lock tumblers. Really outstanding after sale customer service!

Great security door!

Easy to install and it just looks amazing

I have purchased three of these with a fourth one in my cart. Beautifully engineered, And Very nice looking. Yes, They are expensive.

These tale a little time to install, but are very nice, robust hardware!

Missing parts!

I purchased a bronze meshtec security door in store and discovered it was missing the door handles, hinge and a few other items. Customer support cannot source parts. What a headache!! I may need to removed what I installed and return this Meshtec door if they cannot send me the parts.

We will see how it holds up to the weather

The instructions are poorly written.

Manufacturer quality is top notch. But the instructions leave a lot to be desired if you don't have the one installation style they are written for. Also, instructions are consistent at labeling which parts to use, but not which fasteners. This leads to confusion if you pulled all the parts out and separated them to confirm the contents of the box - not all of which are given an identifying 'letter' sticker. To top that off, the only screws that could be used for hinge attachment (again, not labeled, but sufficient quantity and type) are too big for the holes and one screw must be sacrificed to tap them out. This could easily be an average DIY install if the instructions were written better and hardware properly identified and matched.

Locking Mechanism is Defective

The door itself is OK. However the Locking Mechanism is complicated and defective. It subject to jamming and could prevent you from getting out of your house in an emergency . Locking device is not made well probably made in China or another foreign country. It has 3 dimensional locking parts and you have to raise the handle and turn the switch to engage it. After one year of use the handle Jammed many times and I call for service. It look weeks to get someone to come and replace it . Then guess what happened, it jammed again I requested help from the Local Home Depot they were not responsive. So now I have screen door that does not lock. I requested that they send some to at least put a small bolt lock on it they did not respond.
