This cookware poses a food safety risk

We received a set of this cookware as a gift. While my wife was preparing breakfast, she heard a loud crack but she didn't know where it came from until she went to stir the oatmeal and discovered a round piece of metal on top of the food. She fished it out and then saw that one of the rivets for the handle looked different than the others. She sat everything aside until I got home to look at it. I discovered that the rivets that hold the handle on have an aesthetic cap that is pressed onto them. This poses a risk in two ways. The cap can come off and land in the food posing a choke hazard (think about serving this to your child or grandchild). Second the cap is not a tight fit and creates an uncleanable crevice that food could be trapped in and then possibly grow microorganisms that could cause illness. I am an engineer for a food manufacturing company and we would never design a piece of equipment design for food contact that had a crevice like this.
