Moen gold - Shower Rod HARD TO FIND - only disappointment - why dont they sell matching HOOKS - I have looked eveywhere and cannot find anything that matches this gold!!! So I have champaign hooks hanging on MOEN GOLD! Disappointing how designers and buyers can pay attention to detail. When we buy this the hooks that match should be a added suggestion.
Changed shower bases and installed a straight bar instead. This product seemed to be made in good quality. The packaging was odd. Came shipped in a taped up cardboard box. The packaging was a clear plastic bag. There were no instructions or anything else in the box. It was returned with no questions at my local store. It was returned simply because we used a straight shower base instead of the curved base by American Standard.
This is not chrome, more of a stainless steel. I know this because there's a very stark contrast between the shower rod and all my chrome fixtures it sits next too. Very annoying as I went out of my way to find a shower rod in chrome specifically.
Just installed a new shower, and thought I’d get a straight rod, but couldn’t find one in brushed nickel. So I bought the curved, and it is great! I bought double hook shower rings and they glide over the rod and the water stays inside. Recommend!
Design Flaw
I don’t know how I didn’t see the major design flaw sooner.
This is a well machined product that looks great when installed. The biggest feature is that the attachment disc has multiple holes so that it can fit existing anchors and new holes do not need to be drilled into the tile. This is not true of competing products that were available at the big box hardware stores.
The rod itself is just what we were looking for. We wanted a nice looking curved rod and we’re very happy with it. The mounting hardware for the drywall that came with it was a big disappointment. It was flimsy and actually failed and put holes in the drywall. Fortunately, my husband had better wall fasteners on hand. We expected more from Moen.
[Rewarded Review] Curve shower bar OR FANCY CURTAIN bar
So I thought I got wrong bar I was looking for tension one and thought it was straight probably shouldn't rush shopping lol anyway idc if there helping reward or not for this if you're looking for a fancy shower bar or even curtains this one is so great. It extends ridiculously far and the fact it curve so the shower curtain doesn't attacking you with cold nonsense drops making it top bar ever. The polishing on it was so nice too and very easy to clean.

Brushed nickel finish matched other brushed nickel accessories. Easy to install. Looks good. Very functional. Only negative comment is that the rod does not come with wood screws for installation in stud material. The kit comes with hollow wall anchors only. Good anchors, but useless for stud install. Instructions say user must supply own wood screws. Do not know that until package is opened. Otherwise good shower curtain rod, and ready to install on hollow plaster board walls.

The overall product is great! Looks great in my bathrooms. The only con is the mounting hardware provided made the job harder than it should have been. I’d recommend using the plastic screw anchors for this job if needing to mount to drywall and not studs. Overall a solid product.

Shower rod looks great! It took about ten minutes to install with the included hardware and is much more secure than my previous shower rod. There are a lot of reviews here which blame the product for issues which would never have arisen if the directions had been read and followed. As with any project, verify that the included hardware is intended for use in your application. This rod comes only with drywall anchors. If you are installing directly to studs, into tile, or into some sort of fabricated shower surround, you will need to buy the correct hardware first. The caps which cover the pole are fairly large. If you plan to install the rod itself flush to the top of the shower surround, it is going to result in caps going above or below where you want them. Find where you want it to actually hang, measure to that point (twice, of course) and begin drilling. With the particular style of shower rod this is (curved) you'll want to install it already assembled. If you do this and you are right-handed, install the right side first. With the curve of the shower rod, you won't be able to easily use a drill gun on both sides. If you do the right side first, you'll be able to easily use the drill gun on those screws. The screws on the left side will have to be done primarily with a manual screwdriver. If you install the left side first, you'll find yourself having to manually screw in the right side with you left hand. Just a tip, YMMV. And one other word of warning. If your home is like mine, the toilet is only a few inches from the bathtub. Keep in mind that the curve could push this thing out far enough to interfere with toilet usage in small spaces. To keep that from happening, I set the install points about 2.5" back from the edge of the shower surround on both sides. That way, with dual shower curtain hangers (hooks which allow for a plastic shower curtain to hang inside the tub and a fabric one to hang outside -but on a single hook) it still leaves plenty of open space inside the tub area, while keeping it from poking out so far as to hit legs of those sitting on the toilet. Long story short, read the instructions before you start and carefully measure how the placement will affect rod components as well as the curtain itself. If you do those things, it will be a quick, easy and sturdy install.
looks nice-used as tension rod and no trouble
I almost didn’t buy this rod. I read all the reviews about how it was hard. How the end caps didn’t fit, etc, etc -NOT TRUE. So if you have never lifted a hammer or a screwdriver ever before, this would be difficult or confusing . I made sure to check, disassemble and reassemble the end caps before trying to mount it. It is a common sense project and the caps have to be facing the correct direction or they will not fit or lay flat, its just simple angles/science to figure this out. Other that which was really easy install, it looks great! I am hoping it will be rust proof. I think the warranty said a lifetime but i think i read something about 3 years. If i can get three years out if it i will be happy. I installed it directly onto the porcelain tile so we reslly wedged it in. If you have paint or even raised fiberglass, be careful because too much pressure will cause damage

I read a lot of reviews that mentioned that the template for the brackets are inaccurate, and if you use them you end up with holes in the wall that do not match the holes in the brackets. Thanks to these reviews, I knew not to use the templates! Thank you, Home Essentials Direct reviewers! I installed this shower rod into drywall above a tile bath/shower. I had another person help me for about 5 minutes. He had to hold the rod in place while I made sure it was level and marked the holes with pencil on the wall. He also had to hold the rod in place while I did the final install with the screws. I used the hardware that came with the rod and it seemed fine to me. The hardware is meant for drywall, so if you are installing into any other material you will need your own anchors. We'll see how well it holds up, but the rod seems completely secure and looks great!

I found these reviews helpful when shopping for a curved shower rod, so here's mine. I had no problem with it - delivery was fast enough, it installed just as advertised, looks fine, and has been glitch-free in use for daily shower over the couple weeks since. Generic comment: I love a curved shower rod, it's a huge improvement over the straight one (which didn't go to waste; I relocated it slightly to become a second rod to act as a drying bar, which is great to have). I was new to the drywall anchors that came with this rod, but a little common sense, advice from knowledgeable hardware store help, and/or a little internet search on the subject should make it plain enough, it's really not rocket science. Just take your sweet time and proceed slowly and deliberately, double and triple check your measurements, and any/all little mysteries will eventually dissipate.

I don’t understand all the hate on the install. Yes, I read that the template is wrong. I wouldn’t have used it anyway. Yes the mounting equipment for the drywall is cheap. I would use my own anyway. Installing this wasn’t much different than the last few I have installed at past houses from all different brands. The rod itself seems well built. I installed it about a month ago and I’m using roller curtain hooks and they haven’t scratched or damaged the chrome finish. I did drop the pole when installing and it didn’t dent or anything. I gave it four stars because of the known issues above but overall I am happy with this purchase and would recommend to anyone as long as you know what you are getting in to.

I thought $45 was a little too much money for a shower rod. So I purchased a used version of this for 25. Home Essentials Direct claimed that it was in a good condition with very minor and unnoticeable imperfections; well, my rod looks absolutely new and I still cannot find anything that would make it look used. What I really like about it is how easy it is to install. The caps that go over the screws hide the hardware and make the rod look seamless. I like that It is fixed to the well. Tension rods dont do well in my bathrooms, they tend to dig into the paint or slip off tile. This one has the perfect arch giving me extra room in that tub and looks very high and despite being very light. I definitely recommend this one, even at full price. Even with all of the warnings from other reviewers, there was still a problem I didn't foresee which could have been easily avoided by additional markings on the templates. The decorative covers for the screws are quite a bit larger than the mounting plates. Once I had installed the rod, I was disappointed to find that the decorative cover hung over the edge of the shower wall a bit. I had to remove the rod a remount the plate. Here's what I can gather from all reviews and my personal experience. 1. Mounting screws included for drywall are garbage. 2. There is no mounting hardware included for tile, studs, etc. Be prepared with your own rust proof screws/anchors based on the material you have to install into. 3. Test fit the decorative covers to see exactly where they will end up before drilling. I wish they had simply put the dimensions for the covers on an accurate template. 4. Don't use the templates. Do your own measurements for the distance between screws or you will have trouble. 5. Think carefully through each step before completing it. I should have done this to avoid my mistake. The rod seems to be a quality piece. The decorative covers should fit a bit tighter to the walls, but it's not bad. If I see even a hint of rust, I'll be back to update this review. Thanks to the other reviewers for the helpful tips. My installation could have gone a lot worse.
DN2160
This is a terrible designed shower rod. To start off with, the kit specifically didn't include wood screws to install into studs. That was the first problem second, the was the curve is designed you can't tighten the screws because the shower rod curve blocks the screw driver access to the screw. A better solution would have been to use a pin with a pole through the bottom of the pin shaft where a Carter pin could be installed. Third, the covers over the mounting post snap into the mounting mounting post. Because of the close tolerance between the cover and the mounting post and the fact the cover blocks the view it is difficult to get the cover to snap in place. I have ended up with a dangling cover on one end and an exposed mounting post. Now everytime a take a shower I'm reminded what a piece of junk this shower rod is. I expected a better product from Moen.
