DO NOT BUY- stops working after 1 year
Purchased a year ago and really liked it- easy to install and the actual lock with key was an awesome feature too (didn’t know at the time that feature would be key for accessing our house). Fast forward to a year later and the thing is completely dead- replaced batteries, tried resetting it and nothing brought it back to life. Now we have a super expensive deadbolt that doesn’t do anything ‘smart’ and functions as a normal deadbolt with a key. Look elsewhere if you want a smart lock that actually works- we will be too unfortunately.
Alfred smart lock with zwave
The Alfred smart lock is a very attractive and sleek smart locking system. The install was very straightforward (reversible if you need) and the app works great and is easy to use. I’ve used other smart locks, albeit they don’t share their lock grade like weiser or Schlage, I’m assuming they are all the in the same ballpark. For convenience and looks this is a great buy. I haven’t hooked up yet to my smart home system, but when I do I will update on that process.
Exactly What I was looking for
I was looking for a zwave deadbolt lock I could control from Home Assistant. This allows me to lock / unlock from the Home Assistant app on my phone while also giving access codes to family members. I am using a raspberry Pi 4 model B with a GoControl HUSBZB-1 USB Hub and using Pyscript Python scripting for automation. When configuring the device, I had to select Secure Mode as it would not give me the entities I needed in unsecured mode.
Very good product
Very good product, good quality and easy installation
nice!
no one told me you needed to buy the extra wifi connection to get this to work with my smart home, other than that it was a decent buy!
They have a flaw
Everything about this lock is great with the exception that you can't set any code you want which is a deal breaker. They force you to confirm to their security standards which means no repeating numbers or sequential numbers. I understand why but it's really not the manufactures place to tell me what code to use. Bought several of them and returned them all for a lock that lets me pick whatever code I like. Which is every other lock in the world. They should at least make this an option, which it is not.
Does not work
I put this in following the directions step by step. When I finished I was surprised that with my $1000 mesh fastest sped internet that is only 4 feet away, that it would not stay paired. When it does pair it only obeys a command once in a 10-20 min interval. Run do not buy unless you like to buy $150 paperweights that have no use.
