No instructions

Like the previous poster said. It would have been nice if they inlcluded installation instructions or at least made them available on their website. And of course they’re closed for the holiday today. And it’s very unclear how the doorbell attaches to the mounting hardware. I expected more from Baldwin to be honest.

modernish doorbell button

I ordered this doorbell button in the satin nickel finish because it was plain and modern in style and a good fit for my mid-century modern ranch house. The received item matched the description, was well packed, included installation instructions and all necessary hardware, and was relatively easy to install in the existing circuit (by non-pros such as us). We are pleased with it. I had previously ordered a stainless steel doorbell from a different supplier, and it was OK, but the machining of the corners wasn't so great, so I returned it to the supplier.

Great look, end-result is very nice - but, installation not that simple.

Was very excited when I opened the small box and saw the color/quality of the metal which was exactly what we wanted, gorgeous finish and nice heavy metal. Unfortunately, then came the negatives. There were absolutely NO instructions in the box. If we were not removing the prior doorbell button, we really would have had no clue if we were doing this correctly. Then, the mechanism behind the button were so large that we kept having to cut bigger and deeper holes in the siding and wood behind it. Thrilled with the end result - BUT, they need to provide directions and need to advise of what REAL depth and width the hole is going to need to be.

Really dressed up the front...

This doorbell button looks great on the brick of my front entrance. It matches the door hardware and the brushed aluminum floating house numbers near it. The specifications listed on the site helped me to know that this would fit the small space in the mortar between the bricks. I love that the light is illuminated and installation was simple. It sure looks better than the 35 year old plastic doorbell button that it replaced.

Solidly built

The snap on cover is heavy, solid metal. Good quality. The plastic button light quit within days but the bell still works.

Careful if replacing an old button...

We didn't use this item ( used same item but a different finish) but if you do purchase it as a replacement to an 'older' switch be sure to salvage the resistor from the old doorbell button or this won't work correctly.

Okay, it's only a doorbell (and a classic, non-camera/non-bluetooth/non-Ring bell at that!), but it's a beauty. Clean, modern styling looks great with our new front door and is lit at night. Love it.

After reading the reviews I was a little worried about the install. Installed the bracket and fortunately for me the screw holes from the old one lined right up. The only difficulty was that I had to extend my wires, after that it was easy peazy.....Just like any other door bell button!!!
