Very nice book case. Easy to assemble. Very heavy to move. Need two very strong people to carry inside and construct. Need adequate space around unit to assemble . Add 3 feet all around bookcase to assemble properly. Great value.

Paintable... kind of

Read the product details thoroughly. We didn't and assumed it was solid wood from the title and mini description. It is press board and wood veneer. We wanted to paint the bookshelf which is not recommended with the finish thus were counting on solid wood in order to sand. We were able to accomplish what we wanted but we had to do a lot more hand sanding to avoid sanding too deep and exposing the press board. That said, it is possible to sand off the finish if you intend to paint.

Heavy bookshelf, looks very nice. Was easy to put together

This bookcase looks nice in our office but the quality is mediocre. The finish is very thin and not durable.

The bookcase is very solidly built, the pieces are quite precisesly manufactured, so as a result assembly --although a bit complicated--works well. The piece look really great. My only reservation is that the back--made of 1/4 finished plywood folded up accordian-style with pieces taped together--is a bit skimpy, and it is tricky to unfold the back and install it without having a visible crack in at least one place. Might be better to provide separate plywood panels and let the customer fit them tightly together as part of installation. .

Great looking and sturdy with some QC issues

These are beautiful shelves when put together, and the instructions are pretty clear. They are real wood veneer over high density fiberboard, with solid wood trim - so the look is great but they are heavy as heck to stand up once assembled (not a minus, but have a couple of people handy). The shelves arrived with some separation on some of the shelves' trim, which we were able to glue and clamp. Otherwise, they were pretty easy to put together and look fabulous up.

Super heavy. Noticed the gap in the middle from top to bottom only after assembly.

This was exactly what we had hoped. We paid (good price) for a handyman to put it together and set it up. It looks wonderful and will hold all the books we didn’t have room for.

super sturdy and well built

Boxes and unit arrived damaged. I needed to stain an area where the veneer was broken off. Finish on back panels was very unevenly applied. Back panels were taped, once again misaligned, and with a 1/4 inch gap running the full length of the assembly. These details ruin the appearnce of what would otherwise be a serviceable bookcase.

No labeled parts to match with part numbers in directions.

Poor instructions and quality control

I’ve never assembled a piece of furniture with less clear instructions or poorer quality control. The pictures of hardware did not match what we had. Holes were drilled in the wrong places. There was a big gap in the backing. Worst of all, one of the pieces was glued wrong, leaving a gap at the bottom and preventing us from attaching the top front piece.

The finish is nice. The value/money is poor. Basically you pay $570 for a bunch of particle boards. Secondly, the instructions/diagrams are poor. Some of them are wrong, misleading, lacking and difficult to understand. It took me about 4 hours to assemble half of it and then I got stuck because of incorrect instructions or a wrong piece of the product.

Perfect and heavy duty

The bookcase back is badly designed with a pressed cardboard backing that has seams in the middle of each of the three shelf areas - presumably designed this way to fit in the box. The backing could be made so that the seams are behind the vertical shelf dividers and thereby wouldn’t show. Also the center seam didnt fit tightly together so there was a visible gap in the center if the back. (Though the gap can be brought tightly together by turning the piece on its side, unscrewing about 20 screws, pushing the sides of the paper backing together and re attaching the backing to the frame. After that, run a strip of black electrical tape down the middle and viola.
