This is a "get what you pay for" item. Is $80 a lot of money for a filter? Of course. But, consider what you get. This filter actually "filters". The air quality in our home is excellent with this filter, and I use 2 per year. So, then, is $160 or so, dollars expensive for excellent air quality? Of course not. Previously, my furnace filters were the fiberglass, big box store type at $8 each. Yes, they filter the large dust particles, but not anywhere near the April Aire 213.

Inexpensive but ???

The price of Aerostar MERV 13 filter price is certainly attractive --- cheaper than other vendors. But FIRST --- I'll note that the assembly-instructions for the side-rails are slightly confusing. It takes a bit of thought to interpret those instructions correctly. Then --- SECOND --- since those side-rails do not securely engage the channels of the filter-housing, I'm concerned that there will be air leakage around each side. Any leakage would seem to diminish the filtration effects.

Bought 2 pack. Delivery time quite reasonable. But 1 of the filter boxes was torn open on the end and the filter was distorted bit on that end,, especially on the top. On the bottom rail of that end, the filter material appeared not to have been attached properly as it did not sit flat on the bottom rail. Instead there was a ~2inch gap between the bottom of the filter and the rail. I' concerned that air will leak around this end and thereby reduce efficiency of the overall filter. The plastic bag enclosing the filter was not sealed (which seems to be always true), I taped ripped box shut with several pieces of masking tape to prevent dust and critters from entering during storage in my garage, I have photos. This is not the first tine I've received filters that were distorted on the end. I'm considering other vendors.

I have been buying my furnace and fridge filters from this company for several years, and they have proven to be very good filters. I have no problem with the quality of the filters, but this time it is the quantity. I always buy my filters in packs of two, because it saves a little on the price. My last order {10596055 08/27/2024} didn't work out that way. I purchased the two pack of furnace filters as usual. This time I only received one filter, and crumpled up paper where the second filter should have been. I still haven't been able to make contact concerning this issue. I didn't want to leave a low rating as the filters are great, but sometimes it is necessary to get attention. When/if this issue is settled, I will make a new/revised review.

Love these filters, been using for 10 years now. We have a maintenance program with our hvac installer. They recommend this product but the price is almost double that Discount Filters charges.

[Rewarded Review] Does not resemble an Aprilaire 213

This filter is not a direct replacement as advertised. The silly wire stabilizers are hard to install and probably couldn't be installed unless you are a mechanical engineer. I should have read the reviews before purchase. It does not seal the around the edges, especially the ends which will allow dust to slip around the edges and into your ducts and then back into your house. It was on sale but I had no idea it is so poorly designed.

TLDR: The $9 savings vs. a reputable seller of the Aprilaire 213 filter on the web is not worth it.

very happy with them, They fit great and are 1/2 the price we normally pay for these filters. Only thing the box they came in was torn up and we are just lucky the filters were not damaged on this trip. They may need more packaging to protect them.

Poor design

This is not quite a replacement filter. The ends are made of cardboard which may not survive well in a HVAC setting. Also this replacement filter comes with steel rods for assembly before install, not something I should have to do if it is a replacement filter. The original filter has rigid plastic ends that install easily out of the box

Received a product that I did not order!

I don't have a "rate" for this product since I never have used any whole house filter other than the Aprilaire 213 filter. Again, I ordered Aprilaire 213 filters, but was delivered another "brand"! When I finish using this Aerostar brand, if I ever do use it, I may be able to rate your Aerostar filter.

Aprilaire 213 Filter

Convenient to install in comparison to the previous filter with all the dividers, but a bit pricey for that convenience. Just installed, so I don't know about it's longevity and have no way of checking it's MERV 13 efficiency. Delivery was prompt.

I’ve always had great service from Discount Filters. Last year I had new HVAC systems installed, so this year I needed a different kind of filters. And Discount Filters had them. I ordered, had quick delivery, and had them installed. Great products and great service continues! Thanks!

Good product, Thin box, Shipping damage

The filter is GOOD. But the thin product box it is in is NOT good for shipping, yet that is how both Walmart and Amazon shipped a filter to me, and both boxes were crushed, torn, and taped. The filter was a little messed up, but with a scissors and light cleaning the filters will do the job. If you can figure out how, ask for them to put it in an actual shipping box.

I have been buying this filter for many years. The filter remains the same, but the price is climbing up outrageously. So the value for money is going way down.

Live in an extremely dirty area. As a result, since these filters trap so much particulate, I’m constantly changing every 2 months or less. Really helps keep the heating/cooling unit and the house free of dust.

Hv been ordering this air filter since I installed my new furnace 4 yrs ago. Ugh been very satisfied with it. Change it as needed - about every 11-12 months- even tho it doesn't look very dirty. When service technicians come out to check furnace he would mention the filters are doing ok! Happy with the filters!!

This is not an actual viable replacement. It does not fit. No tracks top and bottom. The only reason I bought it was bc it appeared on the same page as my normal filter as a cheaper replacement. False. Not even close.

New home. New furnace. New brand of filters. First time installed by our system tech and seems simple enough. Filter definitely needed replacement after home construction last year. So I guess it was a good one since our interior ducts were clean! Filters are pricey but probably comes with having a high-efficiency heating system! Vendor definitely offers a very reasonable price and great delivery! Am just about to order a couple of more filters!

Very pricey, but a true hepafilter. This filter is light years beyond the common fiberglass "filters" which are only dust catchers and not very good at that. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Does not work in Aprilaire 213

This filter has plastic pieces that snap in to hold the filter expanded. It does not have the side rails that an OEM 213 filter has. This will allow air leakage. Also in my system there are cross braces that the 4" filter just fits through. With the plastic braces on it won't fit through, and without the braces it won't stay expanded. Whoever designed this was not very good in their job. If you have an Aprilaire that requires a 213 filter, do not buy this one.
