Drain cover hazard
This is a hazard, the drain cover and slides causing falls. It has always been an issue. I’ve looked for products to try to remedy the fact that the cover moves every time you get close to it, my granddaughters have fallen way too many times, until I finally removed it all together. But without the cover, your foot still falls into the drain area. Taking a shower is supposed to be relaxing, but not with this particular design. What can I do?
Broke my back
This product should not even be on the market, in my opinion. I stepped on the drain cover, it flipped over and I fell breaking my back. It is NOT safe by any stretch of the imagination according to my experience.I have always loved Kohler products and can’t believe they even designed this accident waiting for a place to happen
Very Nice Pan With Some Flaws
The appearance of the pan is very nice. The color, ice grey, was perfect for my situation. It does have a smooth surface, so we'll see if it's slippery when wet. Feels very sturdy and rigid with little give. If I was only reviewing the looks, I'd give it 5 stars. I knocked off one star because, as some have noted, the pan can have some issues with squareness or other anomalies. It's fiberglass so was most likely made by hand using a mold. On the underside there is stranded wafer board imbedded in the fiberglass along with 4 wafer board feet. In my case, one of those feet was a bit miss aligned and required some extra effort to level it. Unlike a lot of shower pans where the install instructions show the wallboard coming down to the top of the flange edge, the instructions for this pan say to fir out the walls so that the wall board will go over the flange. Not sure why or if it matters, but I figured if that's what they call for then that's what I'll do. In the end, there's a bit more work to installing it. All that being said, I do like the appearance and overall feel of the pan and don't regret my purchase.
Drain cover is uncomfortable and awkward to stand on
With the shower drain right in the middle of the shower base, you have to stand right on the cover. The cover is curved to let water shed off it, but makes it uncomfortable to stand on. Also, it flexes when on it and pops up if you step on a corner. Bad design. Need advice on how to make this be more safe and comfortable. My 75 year-old mother feels like she is going to slip. Otherwise, the rest of the base is great.
Product arrived with a crack
This was a special order and we waited over a week for it to come in. I went to get it, packaging was seriously damaged. I did a quick check and it looked ok. Got it home, opened it up completely and saw a big crack on the face of it. So we now get to haul it back to the store, reorder it and wait another week. I’m not sure why the store would even receive this item with the packing as damaged as it was. Very frustrating.
Major safety hazard
This base looks nice but has a significant design flaw which creates a very real safety hazard. The center drain has a cover that does not click in or lay flush. Stepping on one corner causes the other end to flip up. The edges “stick” using 3m squares but those lose their adhesive quality from the water and soap exposure. If you read reviews, Kohler has been dealing with complaints about this safety hazard for years but is still making the product. It’s quite a liability. I wish I knew about this problem before I got one..it has caused us a lot of stress.
There is not a straight line nor a level line anywhere on this unit.
It took a lifelong tiler & a helper 3-4 hours to set the six mismatched “pads” ..Very frustrating as it should streamline the process.. The threshold as well has a 3/8ths inch dip over a 48” span…

The base was not flat. From corner to corner it was off by 1/4”. Also the curb was higher on each end than the middle and had to be shimmed as well. Would not purchase again.
Product was correct
Arrived and installed without any issues.
Kohler Archer shower pan disappointment
The front edge of the shower pan was cupped top to bottom by approximately 3/8” to 1/2”. We had a second delivered and had the same problem. Because of a time crunch we filed down the bottomside of the pan so it would lie flat. However, when we installed the Kohler Levity shower door we then had a 3/8” to 1/2” gap that had to be filled.
Recommend!
Practical shower pan for anyone with long hair. The look is clean and chic, highly recommend!
Mostly happy with this product
We chose this base to go with our new shower wall surround as shown in the picture. We liked the low threshold and the clean look of the hidden drain. After a year of use, we are pleased with the product except for one minor issue: the suction cups that hold the panel in place came unglued after a few months, which allows the panel to tilt when you step near the edge of it while showering. I expect we can clean off the old adhesive and glue them into place, but we have not done so yet.

Quality control really missed the mark on this one. Front of pan was banana shaped, the fiberglass underneath the pan was irregular and didn't sit flat, and the back side of the hole was only half ground for an incomplete seal. Usually very happy with Kohler but this was a big disappointment.

I like the look of the shower pan. The low profile threshold and drain cover looks modern and clean but would work in a transitional or traditional style bath as well. The pan looks smooth but still non slip. Does not have the pebble texture that most pans have that can be difficult to keep clean. Very solid. No creaking or flexing when I stand on it. Hubby installed it according to the directions using mortar.
48” Koehler Shower Tray
Great design.. easy installation
[Rewarded Review] Standard
No issues with base. Instructions were good. No chips.
Drain cover defective-DO NOT PURCHASE!
The drain cover has come off several times while showering. Almost fell when it popped off. Plumber came twice to check it and said they have experienced the same problem with the same product in the past. Would have rated this a zero. Very dangerous as it could result in falls and injuries in the shower.
