Im not exactly sure how I feel about this bathtub yet. The price is good for a porcelain cast-iron, but Im a little worried about cleaning it. Also the texture is a little cottage cheese. Its not smooth like a porcelain toilet.
This has been a great bathtub for us. It is quite heavy, as can be expected, but the delivery was good and the quality seems perfectly fine. Many other reviews almost had us scared off the product but our tub does not have any defects and was shipped properly. It is a bit lower sided than other tubs but I actually really like that.
New tub
I bought this a couple months ago but just got it in service today. 1st one came damaged and 2nd one came with the front skirt curved on one end? I didn’t notice until it was too late so I decided to just keep it. Tub is beautiful otherwise once I got the ridiculous stickers off. I can’t believe you glue all of the stickers to the finished side. Not smart.
It’s a fine tub—deeper than many 60” tubs
You do need a 7” spout for this one. The grippy surface in the bottom of the tub is difficult to get clean. The surface isn’t “porcelain smooth” but rather a little irregular and dimpled. And we send it back 3x because it kept being damaged in shipment.
Item was delivered with large chips of enamel exposing the cast iron. I was slightly amused that the delivery guys actually started to take it off the truck to attempt delivery. Tub was returned and I will try delivery one more time. Kohler should at least try to protect the tub from damage maybe use corner guards
Kohler quality is slipping, bad.
There were several manufacture defects. 2 dimples and one large ripple across the tub length. All defects weren't noticeable until after install and lighting was placed above tub. Now they are VERY noticeable. Everything was documented and pictures were sent to Kohler for dispute. They sent out a tech that is going to try and fix the dimples but the wide ripple across the back is not fixable. Unfortunately the tub is already installed and we'd have to replace backer board, plumbing etc.
Such a disappointment
I can’t believe the regret that I picked this tub. I went with the big name that is trusted. I went with timeless cast iron over the cheap new materials. There is a non slip texture on the bottom that you will never get 100% clean! Why why why did you add this Kohler?!?! It just attracts dirt and doesn’t let it go. I have bleached and scrubbed with soft scrub no luck! I hate using harsh chemicals, that’s why I went with cast iron! Uuuggggg it’s installed, I’m stuck with it. I’m so disappointed.
Defect, but great customer service
I purchased Bellwether 60x32 tub from Home Depot. I noticed a scratch in the finish after I got the tub home. I was instructed to contact Kohler for a solution. Kohler was extremely helpful and gave me a finish repair company to repair the defect. This did not go so well. A small scratch turned into a roughly sanded, and noticeable painted on epoxy spot 12" in diameter. The finish was not the same and looked terrible. I had the company come out 3 times to make the tub look as new. They were unsuccessful. I was not happy as this is a main focal point of the new bath and I wanted the durability of a cast tub not a repaired painted tub. I called Kohler and explained the issue. This was an 8 week span since I purchased the tub.
Great Tub but But Beware of Spout Recommendation
Tub is great! What I found out is that the apron is on the wide side. Meaning the tub starts farther away from the control wall than most. This may impact the tub filler spout you choose because shorter ones will barely reach the edge of the tub and discharge water on top of the overflow. The install directions provide a min recommended spout dimension. It’s hard to find one that meets this recommendation.
Immediate disappointment
This was my very first purchase of a Kohler product. I was so insistent getting a high-quality cast iron tub in a beautiful, simple design to replace the old, cracked tub we were removing from our bathroom. This was more expensive than other models, but I wanted a sleek and elegant look, one this tub should impart. However immediately upon entering the bathroom after the install, I noticed multiple large, obviously depressed areas in the finish of the tub apron. This is not standard orange peel or "bumpy" texture, but rather standalone swaths of imperfection that, to me, ruin the look of this expensive product, and illustrate serious issues with Kohler's QA process.
The Bellweather tub we purchased was a special order return...
The Bellweather tub we purchased was a special order return clearance that was in fact a 30”Villager but marked as a Bellweather 32”. Per manager when I pointed out the discrepancy after purchase: “ the store was charged for a Bellweather so they priced it as if it was and assured me I don’t know how special orders work.” We overpaid > $100 full retail of a Villager 30” tub. I was appalled at the deception when I researched the model after we brought it home. We ordered remaining $10k plumbing needs elsewhere because of this. There were two of these tubs on the floor mis-marked.
[Rewarded Review] There were imperfections in the tub
The tub is beautiful but in the crate prior to installation, we did a check and noticed that there were some noticable dimples. There was also a dark black mark on the apron. We went back to the distribution center and asked for a new one and it also came with some dimpling. My driver said that this was a common complaint from others who have received this tub. it seems as though this was a batch issue and the tubs are still within kohler's specs so they're not recalled. It's such a shame bc the tub was perfect in every other way on terms of style and dimensions.

The product is in good condition and it probably works good. Nothing against KOHLER. What's terrible is the delivery system at home depot. I recently place an order and they sent the wrong color tub. Now I'm trying to return it and its nothing but problems. They use another company to pick up the returns. They come unnotice and after you schedule the second pick up they won't take the huge pallet (6' x 4') that came with the tub. Trying to deal with it on the phone has been a nightmare. If you order a tub, better hope that they get it right the first time otherwise its a hustle. By the way the cast iron tub weights over 300 pounds
Great function, poor appearance
We purchased this tub for a new install. Delivery was great, no damage, other than the weight it was easy to install. The cast iron tub keeps the water warm for at least an hour - I always get out long before it gets cold so I dont know for sure how long beyond an hour it will keep warm. There are two issues I have with the tub. The white enamel covering the cast iron is semi transparent in some places which means the tub looks discolored. I cant fix this. I didn’t notice it right away and even if I had we wouldn’t have had the time to reorder another one. Now that it’s installed with a tile suround this thing won’t be going anywhere. I’m just disappointed that this is a perminant issue that I have to see all the time. Another review mentioned stains and I assume the enamel diacolorations are the stains they were talking about. The second issue is more of an irritance. The none slip texture that is part of the tub gets dirty quickly. Our well water has minerals in it and there is an orange ring in the texture near the drain hole. I’m sure bleach would help clean the texture up but I try to avoid harsh chemicals. Not sure what I can do but I will figure it out. So for function, this tub is great, but for appearance it’s pretty disappointing. And at this price point I expected more.
[Rewarded Review] Cracked porcelain/Rust
I really liked the depth and look of this tub. We ordered the special drain kit and 8 inch spout. However, our tub had multiple hairline cracks throughout the tub. We had professional contractors install it but did not see the cracks initially. Rust spots appeared throughout the entire tub after our contractor filled it with water to test it. The tub is very heavy so now we have to pay to have it removed and pull up freshly laid tile. We have one bathroom for my family of 6 so we will be without a shower for another 2 weeks! Very disappointed!

Though it seemed overpriced to me, I bought this white Kohler tub to match a white Kohler Choreograph tub surround. The whites do not match; the surround is noticeably grayer, but as it turns out I’m ok with that.
[Rewarded Review] They used to be great, but I'm not so sure anymore
I recently purchased a Kohler Bellwether cast iron bathtub, based on the idea that historically a cast-iron tub is a "forever" purchase. It is sitting in my unfinished bathroom now, and I really want to return it, but because of it's weight and all the work is was to get it into the house, I am torn. The porcelain in the bottom of the tub on one side is so thin that it appears splotchy where can see the darker cast-iron right through it. There is also a lumpy, wavy area where the porcelain did not lay flat but piled up instead. These are quality control issues that should have been caught at the factory. I'm not happy but the cost of having it returned is very problematic in itself. So disappointing!
Beautiful Cast Iron Tub
I received this gorgeous cast iron bath tub last week. The quality is amazing. This day in age, it's very difficult to find something worth what you actually paid. The only downside I have is, you're only limited to KOHLERs drain; I purchased the Clearflo Bath and Shower Drain (Model # K-7259) and that too is beautiful. I just wish it was suggested during the purchase of the bath tub. Oh, and the spout, again, you cannot purchase an average spout for the tub. You need a minimum of 7". I purchased a shower and bath set (with valve included) to save some money but after hooking it up, we realized the spout isn't long enough. Again, I wish this was suggested at the time of purchase from Lowes. That too is an unexpected cost and a very hard find (still looking for a spout 2 weeks later). I haven't been able to use my bath tub yet due to the special orders that's needed to hook it up, but if you take a moment, make a list and read every single review, you should be fine
[Rewarded Review] DO NOT BUY
I bought this tub thinking I was buying a premium product. Kohler customer service is however saying I damaged the finish and not offering warranty assistance. It now has rust coming through what were unnoticeable microscopic cracks. Given that I used professional movers to move the tub (which I watched) and my contractor had a thick sheet of plywood across the top while he was tiling I believe Kohler could just have easily caused the damage. There are other factors that you should be aware of. I knew it was a heavy tub, but I ended up needing to hire professional movers. It probably only took them 30 minutes to move the tub into place, but movers have minimums meaning I had to shell out $300. So to put $1100 into a tub that you buy for looks and think will last a long time and to be stuck with unsightly blemishes is a bit unnerving. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere. Stay away from Kohler.
I would highly recommend and would buy again!!!!!
Ordered this from eFaucets.com. I was surprised at the super fast delivery. However be aware that the shipping service is a type of commercial freight using a tractor and trailer. They called me the day before telling me what time they'd be there and they would deliver to my house. Well the driver called the next day and said I'd have to meet him somewhere and he could not come to my neighborhood. Understandable but aggravating to know at the last minute. Thankfully I live in a small town where I know everyone and had a local supply store unload it and load it into the back of my pickup. Worked out much better that way actually. I highly recommend a heavy duty dolley. My friend and I managed to get it into the bathroom very easily using my dolley. At first we were scared to death how to move it but it actually worked out very well. It was very well packaged to handle being moved around. Installation was very easy. I would NEVER go back to the other type of tubs. The cast-iron is by far THE BEST. This tub in particular. It sat right in place perfectly. You do need the Kohler K-7214 accessory for the drain and overflow, as I had read before buying. Easily installed to the tub and looks great as well. You also need to figure out how to rig it without the required pipe fit as Kohler apparently doesn't sell it anymore and I have no idea why. I managed to use a 22.5 degree elbow. it was tight but worked without any leaks. After getting the tile done the first shower was amazing. Thats all I can say: AMAZING. You can tell it is not cheap and that there is a lot of quality involved in the development of this tub. I'm in an old house so I had one cast iron tub but not as roomy as this one. I would say that after all the work and tile was done I have spent $1,500 more than just merely buying a good fiberglass tub. But looking back at it I'd have to say it is so so so worth it. My buddy that helped install it is already preparing to order one!
