Is it?

The keypad assembly is made with cheap plastic. For something you expect to be durable, this part is sadly lacking. Something snapped off during removal of the unit during initial set-up. I expected something better from this brand.

EF473E Safe Review

THE BAD: originally scheduled a delivery date, but was cancelled. never told me about the next scheduled delivery date....they just showed up. fortunately, i was at the house. poor communication. also, the 'seal' on the right side of the inside of the door is a bit torn off. don't know if that will affect performance.

Material and Workmanship

The safe is fine but the workmanship of the material (carpet) inside is not fitted properly or glued down properly.

Stout

Seems to be stoutly built. Handle tight, lock system seems to be good. Had a combination safe, but my wife could never get it open. Only complaint I currently have is the holes to secure the safe to thecwall aren't 18 inches apart, the distance between studs.

Incorrect capacity

This safe is listed as 5.5 cu ft. If you dig into the Product Details section, you will find the correct capacity listed "extra large 4.7 cubic foot capacity". The safe itself is fine, but Home Depot is over charging for what is listed as a high capacity than it really is. I ordered it thinking it was a higher capacity, but the box it is shipped in also lists it as 4.7 cu ft. I have contacted Home Depot support about this repeatedly and they refuse to correct the listing.

Love the safe but some precautions for you

I bought this for its size. I wish it was 1700 degrees for an hour but again I needed the size. It was very heavy so you will need a dolly and 2 people to move it. I had to insert the batteries twice to make the safe lock and unlock.

Great quality and easy ways to open great size for any space but big enough to keep everything inside you need

Very happy, right size for our needs

Solid well built strong box

Easy order process, the safe is a solid well built fire/water resistant strong box. This safe also has 3 secure ways to make a second combination code. The original code will never change. It will be an excellent backup. I am very happy with this purchase.

Safe was delivered damaged. Handle was sheared off, inside of the safe was cut up. I was told have to bring it back to the store to return. To HD credit, they ended up having it picked up.

It was dented in two spots
