Three months in and fridge sounds like jet engine

The delivery and first two months of the product were fine. It seemed to hole temperature and was quiet. Then all of a sudden it started making a really loud compressor noise any time it needed to run, I can hear the fridge two rooms away with the TV on. I have tried reaching out to the company several times with no response. I definitely would not recommend the product.

This is my second time purchasing this wine refrigerator from Home Depot as I needed more additional cooling. Both units are very quiet and keep their temps for each zone. Delivery was excellent from Home Depot,

Bad quality, disappointing warranty service

The first fridge we received would not hold the correct temperature. Despite being set for 55-60 degrees, the temp immediately dropped into the 30's before I unplugged it, fearing that my wine would be frozen. I called Schmecke who suggested I return it to Home Depot and re-order another one. The second one worked great for a few weeks but then started making a loud knocking noise that we could hear several rooms away. By this time, we were outside Home Depot's return window for appliances so I called Schmecke's customer service line for warranty service. I left several voice mail messages with no response and eventually got a live person to talk to. I had to send copies of the Home Depot receipt, pictures of the fridge from all angles to show it was installed properly, and a recording of the sound it was making. Schmecke said they'd send a replacement fridge if I cut off the cord and sent them a picture showing that the fridge was disabled. Only after I did that did Schmecke say that they didn't have any black fridges in stock but would send me a stainless one instead (SHMFWCC331DLWSS). I had specifically bought a black fridge to go with my decor and didn't want stainless. The black one had made noise but it looked nice and kept my wine at the right temperature. However, Schmecke wouldn't provide a refund since a "comparable" fridge was available. Since I was somewhat stuck, I accepted the stainless fridge. So far, it keeps my wine at the right temp and is quiet. As for the black fridge at issue, 2 out of 2 were defective.

Excellent controls and ease of placement. Perfect dimensions for 33+ bottle container. They could make use of the bottom shelf (does store wine, but hard to get in and out). Would I recommend it, YES!

Very poor Technical Support.

I had an issue with the temp switch in the door which necessitated knowing how to reconnect the wire loom to the temp switch. I was told no wiring diagram was available from the factory. I then said “can I just order a new door?” I was told no spare parts are available by the Customer Service dept. But I was told they would give me a 15% discount on the purchase of a new one. !! Terrible Customer Service. Purchase at your own risk!!

Cooler is not deep enough for longer wine bottles!

cooler only fits standard size wine bottles. It will not work for anything that is even slightly longer. I had to return it.

Works well for what I intended the fridge to do. Love the dual temperature control option. Plus can store Soda and Beer on bottom shelf. Illuminated Light looks cool. It is bigger than I expected though. Be sure to do proper measurements. Wine taste better at proper temps!

Really cute wine fridge but lighting is glitchy.

Damaged and the 2nd one was too. Moving on…

Finally found a unit I liked!! Couldn’t wait to set it up. Unboxed at home and the door was crooked and you could see some damage at the top corner. Returned and got another. Got that one home and the door was straight but about 3/8” too low plus the seal “sagged” at the top so it wasn’t a good seal. We found that the hinge on the bottom was bent. Not going to bother trying a 3rd one.

Exactly as described. We followed the directions...and some of the recommendations in the comments...for settling, turning on, and loading in batches. It has been working beautifully in the almost month that it is here. And it is super quiet! Really pleased so far with the unit, purchase and delivery, and clarity of information.

The unit is a bit noisy and it would not accept all the wine bottles due to the height of the bottles. Will be looking for a new unit that is deeper and will accept the taller bottles.

Second try's a charm

This is our second Schmecke cooler. We looked at reviews on three websites prior to ordering and 95% were great and the others said the cooling system didn't work. Our first cooler was one of those--freezing on the bottom (literally registered at 32 when set to 46) and 70 on top when set to 62. We took it back--easy peasy with Home Depot and only weighed 65 pounds and ordered a new one. This one is perfect. After two weeks, it keeps temps well and holds about 30 bottles. The longest Riesling bottles ONLY fit in the bottom where they lay sideways and are a pain to get out, but the shelves hold all but champagne bottles otherwise. I've had other similar sized coolers and this works to my expectations.

This wine cooler is great. It holds approximately 30-33 bottles, depending on size and shape of the bottles and is silent even when the cooling unit is running. So far, I have not had any problems with this cooler and I keep my temperature at a constant 55 degrees for both white and red wines.

Love it! It is not loud. When the house is completely quiet you can hear a soft whirling noise when the compressor is running. Love that the colder section is the lower section which holds the most bottles, perfect for my white wines. Per the owner’s manual you cannot butt this unit up against the wall as it needs room for air circulation. Overall, I am extremely pleased.
