Spec sheet is WRONG--NO digital zoom

The "Technical Specifications" linked in this product listing claims that it has "Digital Zoom (16x)". Based on reading this, we bought one of these cameras, hoping that although it's part of the Amcrest Smart Home products (which have less features than the Amcrest IP Camera products), that we might still get the digital zoom feature that the older Amcrest IP cameras had, where the picture is zoomed inside the camera and sent over the Internet already zoomed.

Amcrest REMOVES digital zoom from cams!!! Stupid.

Amcrest has removed the digital zoom function from all their pan/tilt indoor cams. Older models had this function. Not having it is a deal breaker for me and my uses. Without the digital zoom one is stuck with a field of view that cannot be tailored to the specific installation point. I have about 30 of their older PTZ cams in the 2M and 4M series. I resent having my system obsoleted by loss of function when I have to replace cams or add more cams to the system.

So bad it must be a deliberate effort

Amcrest staff are overeager to sell cameras to the point of ignoring or getting wrong simple questions about specs. When the staff say the apps and the manuals must be wrong, it’s a bad sign. Different cameras work with different apps, so don’t mix and match. Plan for returns to cost money, so don’t experiment.

Great Interior PTZ

This camera is a great quality for price balance. At 4mp it has a great picture for indoor use and comes with a mount so it can be hung in the most advantageous place. The power cord is also extra long so it can be mounted a good distance from the power source. As far as using the app goes, it is very easy to set up with the quick start guide in the box to help you get going, and the controls are intuitive as well.
