I really wanted a food saver and bought this one. I used it for the first time and am really impressed with how it seals and vacuum packs.

I've had it for over two years and aside from replacing the bags I've had no other maintenance. I've never used the handheld so can't comment, I just use the main component for sealing everything.

FoodSaver Vacuum sealer

Because of the design of the vacuum sealer sloping down from back to front, it does not allow larger food item to be sealed without requiring the bag to be a few inches longer (wasting bags) to accomodate use of the sealer. The vacuum sealer looks good, but it doesn't allow larger food items to get any closer to the sealing element than more than a few inches.

Replaced, but beware!

Handheld sealing did not work.

Got this yesterday, took out of the box, and started sealing food. The instructions were easy to follow. Look forward to many years of using this product to save me money when I buy bulk food.

I purchased this to replace another food sealer that just wasn't doing the trick. This thing is awesome, I should have bought it before the other two... the only thing I don't like is that the cord is too short. Otherwise, this product is great.

Only Buy this One if you MUST use 11 Inch Bags vs 8 Inch Bags Only

You literally only need this larger VS3120 Food Saver if you absolutely must use the 11-inch-wide bags for larger cuts of meat like Chuck Roast, Pork Shoulders, etc. Although the compact model (VS1120) only works with 8-inch bags it is much easier to handle than this larger one (the lid is lighter and doesn’t require using the side lever to open - just a convenient top switch and you can easily pop it open). It also stores easily and take up less counter space. It will fit into a 15 Gallon Plastic Bin to store in a Cabinet with the 8 Inch Bag Rolls. I ended up buying both the compact (VS1120) and this regular size (VS3120) Food Saver only because I use the 11-inch bags occasionally for Freezing and Sous Vide cooking of Pot Roasts, Pork Shoulders and Corned Beef. I keep this larger one in the Basement and only get it out when I need to use an 11inch Bag.

Defect on control panel

Ugly looking finish on control panel face will be returning this. There is obviously no quality control at Food Saver factory. It did work very well though.
