I bought one very similiar to this at Sams many years ago. Has lots of drawers etc. One of the finest and heaviest piece of furniture i ever bought. i have enjoyed it every day since. Very well made. Mine came in one piece though. i did not have to assemble it.
I have had the desk about 3 weeks now. With all the shelves (which I wish were a little deeper), it was easy to get organized. It's somewhat smaller than my old desk but, that's a good thing; it's keeping me more organized without clutter. The desk meets my expectations and is a very nice looking piece of furniture. I would buy again.
Lloyd Brown Pedestal Desk with Hutch
Like the desk. A bit to assemble, but not terribly hard for anyone that can turn a screwdriver. The large drawer in the middle cannot be pulled all the way out because it binds. So, I don't pull it all the way out. Way better desk than those cheap sawdust and glue jobs.
To stay that some assembly is required is an understatement. This is a major assembly project. . I had to make two corrections on alignment. On the three drawer cabinet, the center drawer guides were miss aligned and I had to lower the side rails 3/16". To install the deck top I had to re-align the four holes that connect the top to the two side cabinets to get the screws to mate with the nuts. . The rest of the construction has been okay and the quality is very good.
Base is great - the hutch????
I like the base - the desk part but the drawers are very shallow and measure a little over 2" tall so you have to be careful what goes in there. The construction was easy on the desk but not as easy on the hutch - it takes two people. the hutch is worthless to me because the shelves are only 8" deep so I can't put many of my books and full size letter pads inside, even removing the shelf. For the price it is not worth it to me. The space between the bottom shelf of the hutch and the desk surface is only 15" so larger monitors will not fit. Laptops are fine but measure your desktop before buyng.
Close enough to get the job done
Desk is solid and well constructed. Documentation is easy to follow and assembly is easy, but don't be in a hurry to get it all together. Be meticulous. My reason for less than 5 stars is design. Given today's monitor stands and the move to reduce neck and back pains in the workplace, most monitors sit higher than 15" when a stand alone stand is used. I've placed a 3" spacer between the hutch and the desktop which allows for adequate clearance. A simple modification of the braces on the rear of the hutch/desk is all that is required. I've enjoyed my desk so far, and hope to have it in my home office for many years to come.

Nicely designed desk and hutch. I spent about 6-8 hours (total) putting it together. Assembly can be a bit intimidating for those unfamiliar with furniture assembly. The hutch was the most difficult to assemble since several parts had to be held in place at once (this will require assistance). It looks great and seems quite sturdy once assembled. I experienced one minor issue. The keyboard drawer front was warped and would not close properly. I contacted customer service and was sent a new drawer front at no cost. Kudos to their customer service!
Amazing value!
I move so I'm buying a lot of furniture this month and I've been this watching this piece for awhile. It has definitely been my favorite purchase so far and I'm so glad I purchased it. Superb quality, easy and understandable instructions, extra screws and hardware which were all labeled and neatly packed. Overall a very high quality, well made piece for a super good price. I put the desk together by myself, super easy. The hutch was a little harder, I had to use objects to keep the boards balanced....it was tough! So I'd recommend two people for assembling the hutch. If you've been thinking about this piece, don't hesitate! Buy it! It's worth it!
Double Pedestal Study Desk with Hutch
Purchased the Double Pedestal Study Desk with Hutch. The photo on the Web site shows much darker wood than what I received which was disappointing. Tried to match other furniture in my office. Assembly instructions are not accurate. The parts for assembling the drawers were labeled different letters/numbers than the instruction manual. So, Do NOT tighten the screws until you are certain the assemble is correct. I had to order a replacement part because of a large scratch in the wood when I removed it from the packaging. Part came within 5 business days, which was good.
Great Piece of furniture. Poor design.
I really love this computer desk. Appears to very well made and has lots of storage. I have done exhaustive research and this would meet my needs. It came well packaged in four boxes. It is very heavy so this desk would last for years.
Excellent Quality, well made, beautiful furniture!
Very satisfied with the quality and size of this desk. The drawers glide easy and the cord management is awesome. The filing drawer accommodates letter or legal size files which is nice. The keyboard tray fits a 19" keyboard. The hutch is narrow so small items will fit inside the cupboards and shelf. The desk top is an ample space for monitor and any desk accessories. It took 2 people about 4-5 hours to complete. Get yourself a helper and order this desk, you'll be happy you did! This is not a particle board desk, this is really nice wood furniture that was made to last. Just Love it!

I recently purchased this PC desk. The price was incredibly good, but like all good things please remember that you must assemble the unit which comes in four separate boxes. You should have two people helping with your assembly. Start with the two smaller boxes which are the left and right desk. Then the third box which is the middle drawer and desk top. We assembled the first three in our living room because of the ample space we have. Then proceeded to move the left and right drawers to our desired location and installed the desk top there. As you build it will get heavy. As for time frame. The left desk took my wife and I one-hour mind you I have done this before but if you're going to do it, make it right the first time. The right desk took us about one-hour & fifteen (more parts) the third part or the desk attached to both desks thirty five minutes. Last but not least the HUTCH! Take a brake have some lunch. This build should be done in a long kitchen like table believe me you'll see, it is more tedious, because of the way they made the back board it will resemble a jigsaw puzzle that keeps falling apart. After the hutch was assembled it was easy to transport it to our desired location and finish the project. The hutch was about 45 minutes, all in all it's a task worth taking. It was priced right the solid wood looks great and I know it will last a long time, and we took pride in the project.
Nicely Packaged and Good Quality
The desk arrived undamaged - a good start. The packaging was of high quality, with plenty of well-wrapped pieces and parts. Instructions were easy to follow, although I managed to get some parts upside down, and had to redo the assemblage twice. Took about three hours for this older lady to do. It does require a helper when setting some of the heavier pieces. One drawer guider was misaligned, but a simple fix resetting the screws. The desk itself is absolutely lovely. It is a heavier rich-colored wood and no particle board! This one should last a while!
Well made but has some drawbacks
My husband put this together in about 5 or 6 hrs. I helped with two things and the rest he did all by himself. He even held the hutch part up alone and screwed into place. My husband said directions were pretty self explanatory and he liked the way everything was labeled with extra parts included. After the hutch was completed though, we were both disappointed that the drawers weren't deeper and the shelves can't really hold any books. And if it can hold books, it can only hold small sized and not very wide books. You could stack books but they would probably hang off the edge. The filing cabinet can only hold files in one particular way, sideways. The area for a printer isn't going to be able to fit our copier/scanner/printer either. All these reasons were pretty much the reason why we bought the desk in the first place. It's a shame because this really is an affordable, quality made desk, but it's not really functional for adult use. A young student, yes. I am including pictures that other people haven't shown of how deep the shelves and drawer is. Hopefully these comments and pics will be useful for someone.

This is a heavy solid wood desk. I'm impressed with how sturdy it's built and it looks great! The design of the desk parts and the hardware they use is all top notch. When it arrived I was a little worried because every box had a significant gouge mark on it. When I unpacked each box there was not a single scratch on any piece. I was very impressed with how the boxes were packed and the amount of foam protection used. The assembly directions were pretty good. Every part was accurately labeled and they threw in a spare fastener in most of the parts bags. There are several pieces that can be easily installed in a reverse orientation which requires you to do it over again later. This level of detail could be improved in the directions. All of the parts fit together perfectly!! This is a big assembly project and you will be amazed at the number of parts. I am a fairly able handyman and it took me six hours to assemble the desk and hutch. The desk portion is not complicated, just time consuming and I did it by myself. The hutch portion is a jigsaw puzzle of many pieces that you need to hold in place before installing the last piece. My wife helped me, I couldn't have done it by myself. You have to sign up for a very lengthy assembly project, but the quality of the desk is worth it.
4 Stars
We bought this desk because it looked very sturdy and well made. It arrived on our doorstep in 4 large boxes weighing over 70 pounds each (poor UPS driver!) I have to say, this desk was extremely well packaged! Better then most furniture we've had shipped to our door. It definitely will help if you open the boxes in the labeled order (1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3, hutch). There are instructions and a "hardware" box of screws/etc appropriate for each box, so you aren't looking through hundreds of small parts to find what you need. I helped unbox everything and my husband put the whole desk together mainly by himself in less than 3 hours. It wasn't until he got to the final box (the hutch) that he got a little frustrated; it's a bit hard to put together (almost like a puzzle), so get a second set of hands. So why the 4/5 stars? The hutch is a bit wobbly, even with the included stabilizing brackets installed. Every time I pull on the magnetically closed doors in the hutch, the whole thing shakes and my nick-knacks fall over. I will have to have my husband come up with a fix for this. Also, the cable/cord cut-out on the bottom center of the hutch is a bit small if you're trying to feed a plug with a third prong (ground cable) like on my iHome extention/charger. Also, a heads-up, the three smaller drawers are VERY shallow. They look like they aren't, but they are actually only deep enough to hold items about 1 1/2 inches high. The quality of the wood and the ease of assembly, in generally, make this a great choice for anyone needing a new desk. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who asks!
Nice Pieces, Some Assembly Challenges
The quality is pretty good for the price, solid wood with some veneered surfaces, but the main structure is all hardwood with a nice finish. Must assemble yourself, which is usually not a problem for us. Things sailed along well until we got to the hutch. Ideally we could have used the help of three or four people to assemble it. Holding all of the pieces together while trying to screw them together was quite a challenge. If you don't have three plus people I highly recommend masking tape to help provide the additional "hands" needed. Once it went together it was pretty solid and the pieces look great for my husband's new desk. Although frustrating at the time of assembly, I would recommend this combo at the price I paid.
Beautiful Desk, Pain to assemble, Missing pieces
The desk is beautiful and well made. The hutch is beautiful also, but is not as solid in regards to construction. Assembly took about 5 hours in total. I was missing several pieces needed to build the desk right out of the box so I called Home Styles customer service and they shipped out the missing/damaged parts within a few days. In total it was about a week from the day the desk arrived until I was able to fully assemble it due to missing pieces. I was a bit disappointed that the keyboard tray is only big enough to accommodate a standard size keyboard, meaning the mouse must reside on the actual desktop. The computer cabinet has no ventilation with the exception of the hole for the wires to exit the cabinet. My PC rebooted several times due to overheating before I realized I would need to leave the door open when the PC is running. I plan on cutting a hole in the back panel of the PC cabinet to allow for ventilation. The only other issue I have is that my full size office chair will not fit under the desk due to the width of the opening, but that isn't the desks fault. I would definitely recommend this desk, but beware that you will experience some issues along the way and need to account for that when making your decision to buy this desk. You definitely need to be confident in your ability to assemble furniture and not be upset if you need to make adjustments along the way to make everything fit right. I looked at several furniture stores and big box stores prior to buying this desk and they either want well over a thousand for something comparable or they simply don't have anything comparable to offer. I would say go ahead and buy this desk and make it work. It is very unique after all.
