This is the second time we ordered this tub. It’s nice and deep, are kids are tall and this tub works great for long legs. Hate the acrylic tubs they look ratty in a year.
This tub is perfect! Just what we were looking for! The overflow drain is located higher than normal so the water level is deeper which is great for soaking! The delivery service was TOP NOTCH! Couldn't ask for better delivery guys!
Check out this beautiful tub! Holy deep soak. We have a small area and I wasnt sure wed be able to fit a real soaker but this is the bees knees. Perfect for bubbles and reading.
No sliding glass door options!!!!!
The tub is nice, BUT ....... after installing and tiling, and as I now see from older reviews, I am finding it impossible to find sliding doors to fit the crazy small 2" rim. I called AS support and they have only one jinky 1/4" door that looks like something out of 1980s. No "barn door" option of any kind. Buyer beware!!!!
I wouldn't have purchased this if I had known it would require special non-standard plumbing parts. The options are limited in function and color, and apparently made from cheap plastic. When it breaks, the only option is to replace it with the exact same cheap plastic plumbing part (drain and overflow specifically.)
Best Alcove Tub!
This tub is great, it is deep, comfortable, and well constructed. I would highly recommend this tub over others. I previously purchased a Kohler acrylic alcove tub and had to be returned due to quality issues. This tub is constructed completely differently and is of a similarly or less expense than the hollow/thin acrylic alcove tubs. This looks beautiful and similar to a traditional cast iron tub.
The best bathtub! We installed this bathtub in our Boston rental property 3 years ago - it’s held up so well. Great for a deep soak, easy to clean and made from porcelain not plastic. We loved it so much we chose to buy a second one to install in our new home. Wayfair provided amazing delivery service the tracking feature to see where the drivers were was so helpful.
Poor Quality bathtub
At the store they presented to me picture of different shape bathtub so I've made a purchase. They've sent me different shape and really poor quality enameled, like a coffin, tub.
It is very beautiful and nice appropriate size and color for my children’s bathroom not slippery it has a rough surface, easy to clean . The contractor said it is a good quality made of , not heavy sturdy, not easy to break easy to install. Encouraging to buy
Could be better, move on
I was excited to get this tub. It was deeper than the previous tib and I was looking forward to a good soak. I have been able to do that but there are a few thungs I dont like. First, this is my secind tub. During the install, the timer dropped a tile and chipped the tub. 🙁 I considered a different tub at the time but all the plumbing and prep was done to this tub’s specifications. After install the edge was caulked, looked good. But now I am noticing a gap at the edge and the wall. The weight of the water and a person appears to flex the tub and opened a space in the caulk. I am not happy with this development and if it wasnt such a nightmare to change ot the tub, I would. I will caulk it with wayer in the tub and hope the gap stays closed. The pictures are when no water is in the tub. The gap is bigger when there is.
Chipping After 1 Year
Had this tub less than one year & there's a HUGE chip of pain that has come off. It's in an area that gets almost no traffic, so there's nothing we could have done to crack the enamel. Total waste of money. Would never buy this again!
This is the second time I’ve purchased the American Standard...
This is the second time I’ve purchased the American Standard Cambridge tub. When we remodeled the upstairs bathroom we put one in and I love it! Now for the downstairs bath. I like that it’s more solid like an old porcelain tub. I was also looking for a deep tub which this is.
The white finish under the clear finish was not complete...
The white finish under the clear finish was not complete in several areas. Tub was already installed by contractor so we couldn’t return it. We love the size and how deep it is but the finish gives it a poor rating. I would surely check the finish on any future purchases.
Orange peel finish
I just received the American Standard Americast Cambridge bathtub that I had ordered. I have never seen a finish like this on any of the tubs I have ever had, whether they were cast iron or steel. I was expecting a smooth finish. No where on the American Standard purchase information does it state that the finish is like an orange peel instead of being smooth. I am very disappointed. Since there are no tubs in show rooms it is hard to know that this is what you are getting. I will definitely replace this tub.
It's a little less "white" than I expected, which is obvious because of the absolutely shiny white subway tiles that are installed in the alcove. But the added depth of a soaking tub is ideal. I did a lot of research before choosing this one and knew that I wanted to avoid the more popular acrylic tubs that can crack and don't hold the water's heat. That's very important when you're wanting to soak. And the bottom has the right amount of friction built into it to avoid any chances of slipping. The only surprise was that the front of the tub (the drain end) is several inches narrower. I'm not sure that is going to bother me, but I did notice it right away, having gone from a 30" to a 32". It's wider in the back where it counts though.
Love my new tub. Its like a spa experience. For those reviewers who said there were no shower doors that fitworked with this tub, please see the pic. This is a Dreamline “Aqua” door. Its gorgeous, really. Plus very functional in this small bathroom. Get this tub for your small bathroom, no regrets. FYI. The one I bought from Wayfair was returned due to prolonged delivery timeframe. Purchased same from another company thanks to their quicker delivery. My contractor could not wait on Wayfair.
Tub finish is like an orange peel
The tub just got installed today. Haven’t used it yet. I am very very disappointed in the bumpy texture. I have to think this finish is intentional. In no way is it smooth. Someone else commented about it. I should have paid more attention. But after it was delivered on a pallet it seemed too late to return it. I hope we can come to terms with it. We’ll have to. It’s in now.
Terrible Finish.
I bought this tub because i wanted a quality bathtub to go in our remodel. The americast tub i looked at in my dealers showroom looked great. Unfortunately the tub i received has a terrible factory finish. The white coating is way too light in several spots and the metal beneath is showing through the finish...it looks like the tub is dirty. With the finish this thin it not only looks bad but i'm wondering how long it will hold up.
Impossible to find frameless sliding glass doors
The tub looks nice and feels solid, but I have probably spent a hundred hours or more calling shower door installers and searching the internet and home building stores to find frameless sliding doors--you know, the ones with the barn door look--for this tub. The problem is that the flat part of the threshold is only about 2 inches wide. AS recommended a couple of doors but one no longer even exists, the other had heavy metal frame all around it (think 80's), and NONE offered a brushed gold option. I regret this purchase.
Great compromise between monster/heavy cast iron and flimsy resin and steel options
In our search for a soaking tub to fit a relatively small 32" x 60" that was built in, we found that there was very little offered. Apparently, cast iron tubs start to get just too darn heavy as you make them bigger so the only options are in the enamel/steel and resin products. The resin are way too easily damaged for a permanent installation IMO and enamel/steel sounds quite tinny and lets water cool quite quickly when trying to soak. Finding American Standard's Americast design in this tub was a godsend. It looses one star because the enamel finish is a sort of orange peel instead of a smooth, fired looking finish. We went with Artic White after reading reviews that indicated the standard white was a bit on the yellow/off white side. The Artic White does indeed match better with the cool colors of Carrera Marble we are using throughout the new bathroom.
