This idiotic thing -- which looks like something from the 50s -- took forever to install. Then it worked once, and hasn't since.
Receiver problem
3 wires coming out of ceiling. Remote receiver only has two to accept, then three wires to fan. Remote won’t work.

This is the remote that I knew would fit in my fan according to the Monte Carlo site, so I went with it because I didn't want to get something that wouldn't fit in the canopy. It was easy to install, but the remote is just not very sleek and because it has no smart features, I don't think it's worth the price.

Sadly, after paying an electrician to install, the receiver promptly stopped working. It was a replacement for one that lasted just a year and a half. Just going to use the pull chains.

Two problems: 1) the picture shows a wall mounted unit and a hand-held unit (which is what I wanted, but there is actually only one transmitter, which can be placed in either one or the other, not both.) 2) This unit was more expensive ($85) than buying a Hampton Bay wall mounted unit and a hand held unit separately ($30 each), both of which include their own separate receiver. If you only want one or the other (wall or hand held), buy the Hampton Bay unit and save over half the money.

The remote works well. A little big but easily allows for three speed options. I like keeping it on my night table next to bed.
