Do Not Buy
Don't be fooled by the looks of this desk yes it looks nice but remember what your paying for it. This is the cheapest poorest quality piece of furniture I have ever purchased.
Nice desk but won't replace the cracked top
I bought this desk and it's damaged on the top part. Cracked corner likely from the shipping process. Sauder does not want to replace the top bc they do not have a stock date. Sauder suggests to go to retailer to fix but I have already take everything out of the box. This thing is like 100 pieces. Waste of money, would not buy from this brand again. They will not replace like they say
U-Shaped desk
I have not been able to build it yet because NFM messed up the order and delivered 1 wrong box out of 5 boxes. It looks like good quality, I started putting together what I could and it does take time to build it. One good thing, is Sauder customer service. 1 part was broken and 1 missing. They already sent me individual replacement parts. It makes me more comfortable that in the future, if I need a replacement part, it will be easy to get!
Beautifully crafted product
Large desktop for accommodating desktop tools, lamp, monitor, wireless keyboard / mouse combo plus working items (documents) and coffee cup!
Looks great, but top isn't solid
We've had this desk at my job for several years now, and it's held up well. It looks great, and normal wear and tear doesn't show up too easily on this. Our entire office is full of Sauder Heritage Hill furniture, since about a decade ago, and they're all solid and look good. I'm only here writing a review because we need more Sauder Heritage Hill furniture for a new employee, so I thought I should review the pieces we have that have been good enough to keep us coming back.
Desk looks great!
Desk is exactly what I expected. I love the traditional executive look. The desk is a bit larger than the one I had before. I was actually looking for one a little smaller, but was not able to find anything I liked that had the executive look I was looking for. One thing I strongly recommend you do before purchasing this desk. Make sure you measure your space where the desk will be placed, including the open or access space in the room after all your furniture is in place. When my desk was assembled and placed in my office, it appeared to "overshadowed" the room. This was primarily due to the large table I have in there which I use as a workstation and to hold two printers. I also have a couple of side chairs and a large file cabinet in the office. The file cabinet will go in the garage and I will be changing out the two side chairs with one executive side chair. I also plan to replace the workstation table with a much smaller one and use my desk to correlate and stable documents when needed. I have a pretty large home office, so after these changes I should have plenty of open space. Overall, I am please with my executive desk! Oh, one more thing. The desk is a little over priced, in my opinion. That is, if you are purchasing it at the regular price. I bought mine on sale. So I am please with the deal it got.
Beautiful stable desk with detailed direction
Beautiful comfortable and very stable desk.
Would buy again if it was already put together...
Scratches easily thankful for the furniture markers that came with it. A MAJOR PAIN to put together by yourself. I was so mad & frustrated after 3 days working on this it would have been better if I had paid them to put it together for me & I am great at putting things together. Would have been better if this came put together would never do this ever again. Way too much to go thru with this & the directions have you go from book to book without doing other details that left you wondering what about these other parts then you learned you should have already had them on yet it never mentioned to put them on cause they have you going to the next book or skip to pages ahead if you want this section to your left or right it just makes this a total mess in the end. I had a few pieces leftover I did not know where they went, did not care at this point since the entire beast was put together. Mine came with a bulb that was already bad, messaged the company. As of a week later still now reply from the company on getting a replacement bulb for what we paid for this as a whole 4 piece system. Lucky they are getting three stars... This would have been better with under the counter & above the counter lighting which I added myself which really makes this stand out!
Solid Desk, looks great!
Desk is visually appealing for a home office, and very sturdy. I've had desks in the past that were made of flimsy materials, but that is not the case here. The assembly is time consuming, you need some experience working with your hands and maybe a little patience to do this the right way. If not, consider hiring someone to do it for you to ensure all moving parts work properly and peices fit together well.
Nice, solid desk but a nightmare to assemble
Desk is very nice. Feels solid. Heavy. Just what I wanted. Assembly was a nightmare. I've assembled many pieces of furniture, etc. recently due to new home. All can be challenging but this was worst by far. Made it through a few steps then called family member who is really good with this stuff. It was endless. Hours; what a frustrating slog (Plus some malfunctioning pieces, but customer service immediately got on it and sent the replacements parts to me within 2 days.) Finally I called my expert handyman who's been doing this stuff for 40 years. To complete steps 10-22, took him four solid hours. The handful of people on here saying it's "easy to assemble," I have to believe them, but all I can say is: you are gifted people. Like I say, I've assembled a lot of these and this was just a miserable experience all the way through.
Great product, but modesty panel and hole alignment issues
It's beautiful. Took me 7 hours alone to complete, since some holes are not lined up exactly. Definitely need two people when installing the modesty panel (panel in front of legs) - I followed directions and did not hit the panel while installing a side drawer pedestal (sections installed upside down), but it gently fell over on its own, damaging the two screw holes and panel. After glueing drastically and help with another person, we finally did an ugly repair of the panel and holes. It works, but would be nice if directions said do not install that piece alone because it would be damaged. Also, can't alter holes to one drawer face panel any further (drilled new holes near original ones), so the drawer has to be helped in with two hands; if not the drawer does not fit with the other small drawer face panel. I paid a nice chunk of change for this desk, so I wish all areas lined up better. It's sturdy however. Looks great in my home office.
Probably Not.
Desk for my personal use. I already have an identical desk and have had it about 5 years. It was great. The one I bought this year was a disappointment. First, the desktop was broken when I received it. It happens, and the U. S. service desk shipped me a new one right away. Well done. Then I started assembling it. The dowel depth holes were way to deep and too large. No need to tap it in as instructed because it just fell in the hole and wobbled around. As an additional second order effect, there was subsequently not enough glue in the package so I had to use a lot of my own. Predrilled holes for other parts were not in good straight lines and sometimes were as much as 1/8+"" out of line. It appears whoever was running the CNC didn't know how to use/align the machine, or no one ever did QA to keep the quality at an acceptable level. FYI, Factory ID: F02105, Lot: 567992, Manufactured April 2022. . I don't think the QC was up to Sauder's standards based on my previous experiences with Sauder products. I made it all work and I'm using the product. It works fine, but I had to tweak the alignments. I strongly suggest a Sauder QC manager take a look at this factory. Vietnam is well known for sloppy work, so you need to do more frequent QC or you might want to look at another country in Asia where QC is better. I hope this helps you!
Poorly Done Instructions and Structural Problems
The product is okay if one has middling expectations. Here some problems you will have to cope with:
Solid Built
The product is packed in a box and is so heavy that my wife and I couldn't lift it out of our truck and workers put it in. We opened the box and removed the pieces individually. There are other reviews which complain about the instructions and agree they could be a little more clear. While a feel that I am quite mechanically incline and do many major home improvements, it took me three hours the first night to assemble the basic desk. Another three hours the second night just assembling drawers, and an hour the third night installing drawer hardware. It's was due to difficulty, but due to time consuming installation of all the screws. You must assemble with only a screw driver and not a screw gun which can easily strip a hole. All hardware was provided and all pre-drilled holes lined up. Marking of the parts could have been better but I found the assembly sketches to be accurate and helpful when instructions were questionable. After assembly you will need to make minor adjustments to the drawer tracks to prevent them from rubbing against each other and the desk trim. I did not find any portion of the basic design to be lacking, such as thin material bowing and lacking sufficient thickness to hold a screw. At this point I am very happy with this purchase.
Solid Desk, Smart polished look
Bought online and picked up from store, needed two guys to lift off of the store trolley and heave into the back of my SUV, this should have been my first clue as to how heavy the actual box was. Being a 6'4" and slightly overweight, I was reasonably confident that once I got home, I could lug the box from my car, through the garage, across my backyard, up over the deck and once inside, drag the box across the carpet and slowly lower down the stairs to the basement where it would eventually be assembled. Dead Wrong!! I almost gave myself a hernia trying to just get it out of the garage.
Beautiful desk, but extremely CHEAP materials.
FYI, I thought Office Depot did a great job with delivery. Only 2 parts were partially broken (the lateral sides of the keyboard drawer, not fully split, just a crack in eat one). Why don't I blame Office Depot? Because the materials ARE SO CHEAP. I don't mind that it took me hours to put together (41 yo female with doctorate who has been through many prior years of having to put together furniture from the college days so I'm very much used to putting together furniture). FYI... you DO need a second pair of hands for certain parts of assembly and for moving the desk (again, bc the furniture is SO cheap, it needs to be gingerly handled).
Top cracked
Bought this desk from store near us and discovered that the top was cracked. Took it to a different store and exchanged it. Examined this one quickly in the loading zone in front of the store and couldn’t see a crack as obvious as the on in the first desk, but after getting this on home, it also had a crack, although a smaller, less noticeable one. I kept this one because these are very heavy packages and I didn’t want to go back for a third time. I attribute this problem to the material (particle board) and the packaging. The boxes are long and very heavy, so anyone who picks up the box from one end will cause the box to flex. There is no rigid piece of packaging that runs the length of the box, so the stress is on the longest piece, which is the top of the desk and particle board has no real grain to handle the load, so it cracks. Other than this issue, the desk looks nice and it went together without much trouble. Would recommend with reservations—check the top before leaving the store.
excellent experience with manufacturer
I bought this for 3 weeks now. A few parts came with defects, I called in the manufacturer directly, they sent me the parts very quick and it was free. Nowadays, most of desks are unfortunately made with artificial wood boards which was composed of wood chips with strong glue materials, and laminate finishes. This desk is one of them. There are a few things to share. The glue bonding chip wood are very, very heavy, the desk is about 180 lbs. The non-natural wood is not strong and can't handle nails well. There are 8 plastic cushions that use nails to attach the bottom of the desk. Even with small nails, I could even see a few of them made cracks in the boards. Because of all wood boards are filled with chemical glues, I have been using fans to blow smells away. Once it is built, it is sturdy and solid. However, I can not lift the desk by holding the desk top wood. With the weight, it is almost certain, I could possibly damage the desk, because my top board would come off from the log boards (a,b,c,d). The screws that connect the desktop to those 4 boards are simply not able to stand the lift force. When I move it from a place to other in the house I have to disassemble it first. If moving within a room, I can just push it. Anyone has a better idea, please share. The desk is beautiful, and it is spacious; its keyboard tray is cute. For $300, it was a good buy. It literally took me 10 hours to set it up, the video from manufacturer is helpful. While you attach leg boards (a,b,c,d) to the desk top board, you would need a helper to hold the 4 legs to avoid leg boards damage.
Excellent after sale experience with manufactor

Excellent Value
After some lengthy research on reasonably priced pedestal desks, I settled on the Sauder Heritage Hill Double-Pedestal Desk in the Classic Cherry finish. Upon receiving the large and heavy package, I was pleased to note that the parts were well packed and protected and all the finished pieces were in excellent condition. The assembly instructions were easily understandable and aided by detailing drawings that helped with orientation of some of the parts. My only point of critique would be that the one drawing for the installation of the drawer slides on the right side pedestal are too small to note the correct orientation of the slides for two smaller drawers. Later in the assembly process, I realized that I had installed these slides opposite to how they should have been installed. An easy fix, thank goodness, but an updated drawing would eliminate this possibility for other buyers, going forward. I was able to finish the complete assembly in under 3 hours, with only one drawer front realignment required. The touch up pen that is included is an appreciated feature that allowed me to make some very minor touch-ups to the finish upon completion. I am extremely pleased with this desk, especially since it is an engineering wood product, and would highly recommend it to anyone in need of a budget friendly piece of office furniture that has great looks and functionality. Thank you Sauder and Office Depot/Office Max for making this product available and at such a wonderful price point!!
