The plastic nipple to attach shower hose to was glued and threaded into main body. I put the hose on loosely to test fit. The insert unscrewed. Very light duty. Looking for a better option without a remodel.

Very easy to install and the quality is excellent. I bought this after I paid almost the same amount for another inferior product that was proved useless. Recommended!!
Waste of time and money
It is really not worth the effort of pulling it off the shelf. The biggest problem with universal items is they aren't. Returned it nd spent 2x as much for the moen one. Five minutes later it was installed. The money at that point more than paid for itself. Time is money. If this is the type/lack of quality of product that HD sells then, I would recommend divesting from this big box store. I bought 4 things that day. Returned 3of them due to defective, quality issues or just plain worthlessness.

All parts are included for easy install. However the securing ring and screw is not clear as to the position of the screw. The inner sleeve does not have the hole completely drilled through. The adapter that was previously installed was against the copper pipe. Instructions were not clear if screw was to just be in plastic inner sleeve or against copper pipe.Aside from that , the install was fairly simple.

Descriptions & photos are very inconsistant. Pictures in instructions are the same model for different down spout diverters. Eventually had to buy a second diverter. Beware of item with connection for shower hose.

The plastic slider was too loose, which leaves a big gap. The water is gushing out vs dripping. The o ring is extremely tight, might be out of spec. It was difficult to put it on without pushing the o ring out. I ended up bought the drip free spout, a better design, with same price. It works much better.

Product was difficult to install according to directions. Set screw would not penetrate installation sleeve. Ended up tossing out plastic sleeve and soldering on copper extension to water line and then screwing spout onto copper. Nice to have pipe tape in kit.

I tried installing this 4 times. Leaks out the back the first three times. The third time, the leak penetrated the wall and damaged my ceiling downstairs. The 4th time it didn't leak, but blew off the pipe. Now I have to go find a different solution as well as repaint my ceiling downstairs. Yay!

The labeling of the product was hard to determine that it was for a handheld shower fitting. That text was very small, and we bought the wrong one. Also the packaging had been opened and we were not able to see everything inside the plastic to notice it was the wrong product. Had to return. Would be nice if the "Handheld Shower Fitting" wording was more prominent on the packaging so mistakes did not happen.
Good water deverter from tub to hand held shower
I liked this one better because the shower hose connection is closer to the end where the water comes out. This makes it easier to hook up the shower hose. Some tub spouts have the hose connection near the tub end which can make it harder to hook up the shower hose especialy if you also connect a water shut off valve too. if you do install the shut off valve, then you can have all the water go to the shower head coming off the wall to have more water pressure there but then if you want water to come from the hand held shower, you just open the valve. Also I like the hose hook up at the tub spout instead of at the shower wall so you have more use able hose length to shower off your private area between your legs better.
Fabulous!
I didn't even know this product existed until I was lucky enough to meet Lou at the Home Depot in West Des Moines (? University Ave). My elderly uncle was no longer able to deal with the stairs that were required to get to his bathroom that had a shower. His same-floor bathroom had only a tub spigot, no shower. I came to Home Depot looking for one of those cheap/nasty rubber shower hoses that fit over a tub spigot, so my uncle could more or less shower in his tub. When I explained to Lou what I was looking for, he showed this unit to me. It's exactly what we needed - it has a normal tub spigot, then diverts to a ferrule when the tab is pulled up. It took less than 5 minutes to install - just unscrewed the old spigot & screwed on this new one. We added a nice screw-on hand-held shower unit to the ferrule & life was good. No muss, no fuss, no leaks. Note that we were fortunate in that the original spigot, which had been on that tub for 50 years or more, came right off. And that there was no issue with the tile or drywall behind that spigot. We were also VERY fortunate to have run into Lou at Home Depot. Without him, we would never have known that this item exists. Thanks, Lou!
Barely Meets Minimum
The instructions for this spout were very poor. If I wasn't an engineer I probably wouldn't have been able to install it. The instructions told me to align one of the pieces with a hole in the nipple, however THERE WAS NO HOLE! Rather than trecking back to HD, I just drilled a hole in it myself, Then trying to tighten the set screw was also difficult since it was close to the wall and the top of the tub. A allen-type cap screw would have made it much easier. I finally got it installed and it seems to work...for now. Pay the extra bucks and get a good one, however I needed one ASAP and HD only had this one.
Taiwanese JUNK
The plastic male tread fitting snapped off at the base when I attached the shower hose. I tightened it finger tight. It is unfortunate the adapter is made of brittle plastic instead of brass or bronze. The water flow out of the spout is terrible. Very low flow. This item is poorly made, poorly designed and a waste of time, money and effort.
