Good for dry climate!

The tiny drain holes get clogged up easy from mulch, leaves, etc. Then the water gets in the fixture, burns out the bulbs and sometimes ruins the fixture entirely. I've had to replace two of them already since last year.

This was a replacement of a 20 year old outdoor fixture. This is a heavy, solid, quality product that I can highly recommend.

no product support for BZ55000

The only reason I had to purchase these was because they are only available as complete units. Apparently no component parts are available for repair. As a service project by our Boy Scout Troop for the church that sponsors us, we installed 5 of these Hinkley BZ55000 fixtures as ground mounted tree lighting. Over the course of 6 or 8 years and a number of lamp changes, the threads on the mounting swivel where it screws into the weatherproof box below have deteriorated to the point that the fixture just falls out of the threaded hole. 3 of the 5 fixtures suffered this issue. with the stress of the weight of the fixtures, wind action and the repeated pull of separating the shade for lamp replacement, this situation is understandable but not pleasant. I don't know if other customers have suffered this problem, but for me it has been the only downside to the function of the fixtures. What I find unacceptable is the inability to acquire repair/replacement parts for a problem that is pervasive among the fixtures we purchased. If your intention is to create a situation that is unnecessarily costly to the customer, you have succeeded in grand style. This is truly a supplier/manufacturer problem, not the fault of New York lighting, I realize that. You can, however , pass my displeasure along to the proper culprits in this issue. Thank you for a place to comment on something that makes this product ultimately useless. unable to acquire component parts.

Outstanding!

The Hinkley units are well designed and fabricated from high quality materials. Component Fit & Finish are of commensurate quality. They are designed to sustain and dissipate the heat from a 175 Watt incandescent PAR 38 bulb. Using a LED, lumen-equivalent bulb instead will extend unit longevity well beyond this units already very long life expectancy. Of course, you are going to pay premium for such quality.
