Elegant scent

I blind bought this candle as I had heard great things about the scent and I am pleased to say that it didn’t disappoint. The scent is not your typical floral or sickly scent but a warm wintery amber with a hint of spice which is perfect for colder nights at this time of year. It’s not too strong but leaves a lovely lingering smell in the room once it’s out. Will definitely buy again.

Obsessed

I had this candle on my wish list for about a year but finally took the plunge when a promotion came on the site. I had a feeling I would love it (I’d never actually smelt it before) and it exceeded my expectations. I’m a big fan of anything amber but this is just amazing. Even when it’s not lit I can still smell it when I walk in the room. I would buy 10 of these if they weren’t so expensive!

Not a very strong scent

As the title stats - the scent is not particularly strong and I think there are better candles available.

An Inviting Scent

i am a creature of habit and tend to lean towards my faves from Byredo (Bibliotheque, Tree House and Carrousel) but have found another to add! when given the opportunity to burn, the Ambre Japonais draws you into the room with warm and sweet scent. only drawback is it takes longer than 3 hours to burn to the edge ;)

Unusual

I love a number of Byredo scents and so I was really keen to try this candle. The black wax and jar are stunning and it burns evenly and cleanly. The scent is very unusual - a smoky oriental. Initially, I thought the scent was barely noticeable but on the second burn, it really kicked in. Maybe even a little too smoky and strong for my liking. It is definitely an acquired taste. I will burn this again on a cold evening which is more suited to enjoy this fireside scent. I think it will grow on me.

This candle smells incredible! I have this in the bathroom by my tub and it fills the room with a warm scent that is not overwhelming yet doesn’t get lost in the room atmosphere

Great throw, beautiful scent

Bought this about a month ago to add to my growing collection of scents from this fabulous brand - I'm obsessed!

not as spicy as I was expecting

This candle isn’t bad but from the description I was expecting something a little ‘spicier’. This candle has a deep, warm, sweet scent. Almost like a sticky maple syrup smell. The bourbon vanilla is definitely forward and the black peppercorn, coriander, sesame, and sandalwood definitely take a back seat, but are not totally undetectable. I typically like musky/spicy/autumnal deep scents so I thought this would work for me. I’m not a fan of super stron smells so I found the throw to be adequate for my space (400sq ft). Also, I purchased this scent because the biblioteque was out of stock. I later purchased biblioteque and was much happier with that scent. I still light this candle from time to time but will not purchase it again.

Lingering fragrance

Having tried a few ByRedo candles, I purchased this when I wasn't able to get hold of my favourite Diptyque one. These candles are beautifully packaged and come in a stylish glass pot; it's just unfortunate that the opaque dark glass means the candle doesn't flow through it. I've found these candles need to burn for a while before giving off their scent, but once they do, it lasts. This one reminds me of bubbling caramel and I think would be a great fragrance for Autumn/Winter. I would purchase it again.

Cozy and stylish winter at home

I bought this based on reading the description of the scent alone. It smells amazing and looks stylish on my bedside table. The scent is very suitable for winter.

An Underrated Gem

I have always looked past this candle, as I don't particularly like amber. However I was given this as a gift for my birthday and my word it's amazing!

Beautiful scent

My absolute favourite out of the Byredo range. I find some of the Byredo candles smell lovely in solid form and then become not so nice in burning, but this is a beauty! Warming, calming, the perfect blend! And in a beautiful black container too... perfect.

Sensational!

This is such a discreet, ethereal scent with a spice amber undertone. I do usually prefer candles which fill the room with their aroma - my favourite candles are from Diptyque - but there is something so unique about Byredo candles that I just love. The quality of the black candle and wick is excellent, it burns very evenly and lasts long.
