Good, but certainly not the best, version of Emma
I didnt enjoy this version of Emma when I watched it in the cinema, but chose to give it a second chance. Certainly not my favourite, but I did enjoy it still, and glad I did give it a rewatch.
Innovative and heart warming.
I love Johnny Flynn as Knightley. This film is a great new perspective.

Emma DVD 2019
An entertaining version of Jane Austen's novel
It was on time and my daughter loves it.
It arrived on time and our daughter loved it.
Great
Wonderful movie to watch
This is the best version - watch it!
I was so pleased to be able to get this dvd at a bargain price and it arrived in perfect condition - even with the cardboard outer cover. In my (humble) opinion, this is the very best adaptation of Emma. All the actors are brilliant - I actually understood who was who and what was going on - the aesthetics and cinematography are absolutely stunning. The costumes and actors - Bill Nighy does a fantastic job as Mr Woodhouse and Miranda Hart plays a blinder as Miss Bates! It was lovely to see Callum Turner - always the rogue eh?!! This has become one of my absolute favourite films - it deserves every single one of it's 5 stars!
Delightful reworking of Jane Austen's novel
Delightful reworking of Jane Austen's novel. Anya Taylor-Joy and Bill Nighy are stand-outs as the Woodhouses. Autumn de Wilde's fresh and bright direction is inviting and cheeky. Would have to be the best Austen adaptation after 2005's Pride and Prejudice.
Best version so far
If you love the book, you will love this film. Best version of Emma I've seen. Took a wee bit of time getting into it, but brilliantly acted by all, and played for the humour in a way I've not seen before. Got the balance right between humour and serious - lots of light and shade. Great music. Bought as am a huge fan of Jane Austin's novels, and was interested in the music and acting of Johnny Flynn; I was not disappointed.
.It's Captivating. .A Joy To Watch..
I Just love this version of Emma... This copy I bought for a friend, as I didn't want to part with mine..There are a few films I can watch over and over again, this is one of them... I just find the whole film captivating..The actors, the scenery, the photography.. Just Perfect..
Chegou rápido. E veio certinho, parece ser original e roda bem. Eu gostei muito.
A more capricious Emma than before
I was at first not much liking this version of Emma who seemed quite the very spoiled cold & selfish little rich girl, but we have to remember that is exactly who the character Emma is. And when written she was not meant to be much liked. This production was beautifully made. It looked stunning and all the cast seemed fine enough. They tried very hard for this version to be VERY different to the two 1996 versions & also the 2009 miniseries (Romola Garai) which I love the BEST of all versions. I also thought they made the locations grander than they ought to have been but as I say I think they wanted to be different to the others & in doing these RISKS must be made. I thought after seeing some of the cut scenes they should have been kept in because with those scenes the movie would have flowed better & the story better understood by a NEW audience less familiar with EMMA. It was difficult watching this movie without the cut scenes. To me there seemed little to no romantic connections with any of the characters. So, it seemed cold. If it lacked anything it was any warmth of relations between all the key characters. The decision to cut key scenes is made by the director & editing. The problem is this is a 2-hour movie, but I feel the cut scenes were a mistake. I think in this onethey tried to be very different to all the others. Sometimes it may be editing or direction, even casting I do not know. But I feel it was what was left out that determined my vote as being less than it ought to have been. This is sad because I feel sure all the actors tried very hard. I give it 4 stars for the cast who are not in control of what is left in & what is cut from the film. In this film I do not feel it flowed as it ought to have and that has more to do with editing or direction I assume. I will have to watch it again to see if I change my mind. But, having the 3 other Emma's I doubt it I think I got it right. The 2 1996 version were shorter in length and managed to convey the right & key story & emotion that lacked in this one.
Excellent and very entertaining
Great characters and very amusing
Worth getting.
I really enjoyed this version, some reviewers werent so keen but I found it enchanting. The quality of the recording ie excellent as well, Im used to blu-Ray being upgraded on a 4K player but I doubt a 4K version would be any better.
