Reviews
Wow, this handheld shower head has wonderful water pressure. Installation is a breeze. Although the rubber strainer gasket on the magnetic arm was backwards so it didn’t thread closely and water leaked. Once reversed it was perfect. I cannot say enough great things about my shower experience. It was the best. Highly recommend.
60" hose length a bit short, plastic ball crack
The magnetic attachment mechanism is a great design and works very well. We are still using it about 2.5 years now. The negatives: (i) hose 60 inch was a bit too short for us, (ii) I did not feel comfortable with the plastic spherical adapter fitting near the wall. Plastics become brittle with age and I did not want to risk a failure. It turns out, there is a compatible ball adapter fitting sold elsewhere, LASCO 08-2465 1/2-Inch Iron Pipe Shower Arm Ball Adapter, Chrome Plated. I saw a lot of negative reviews here about the plastic ball adapter. I hope they can see that a solution exists.
Poor quality, poor design, do not recommend
We have had this shower system installed in our bathroom since May 2021 and this morning the shower head snapped off in my hand as I turned on the shower. We have also had issues with the diverter not working properly since the day it was installed. The diverter won't fully pull up to divert all of the water from the main faucet to the shower head leading to an excessively loud shower, water shooting out of multiple areas and other issues. For the amount of money we spent on this, I would have expected higher-quality materials, a better design and a more productive/efficient product.
Shower-head ok, but magnetic part is a disaster
Purchased end of January. Had it installed less than a week ago due to a number of reasons, incl. waiting for my guy to have it done professionally. Anyway. The shower head is not bad at all. But the plastic part that it attaches to (magnetix?) and that in turn attaches to the main pipe thing attached to the wall - is horrible. Even though everything was installed properly and professionally, it just keeps leaking, to be more precise almost spraying. I have a video but I don't know how to attach. Not only is it annoying, but I keep losing water that escapes from the leak! I've never had this kind of problem with my two previous shower-heads, which were BOTH Moen brand btw. The kinds I had are unfortunately both discontinued, and I've had and enjoyed them for years. That's why I decided to stick to the same brand name. And so, I got my third Moen shower-head, which really disappointed, so much so that I started looking at other brands for my next shower-head. Because this magnetic stock thing really is not working and it's a very very bad idea to have the plastic part serving as a liaison between the water flow and the shower-head. If anything should be discontinued, then it should be this idea of having a plastic part connecting the water flow and a shower head. Or maybe you can change it to being all metal, I don't know. This is something your designers / engineers can work on. In the meantime, I as a customer, am not a happy camper. It is past my return policy, I have spent money on this shower-head and now just a week later of using it I have to spend money to buy a new one. I don't know if there's anything that can be done to remedy the situation, but it's really frustrating for a customer to be stuck with this model that has a flimsy connection to a water flow.
Plastic Connection Breaks
The first one I purchased leaked at the plastic connector and the shower pipe that comes out of the wall. Second one broke while adjusting the shower head. The connector needs to be made of metal not plastic. Loved it while it worked. Loved the magnetic connector. Just wish they would make a metal connector.
Bought two, both defective
I have been using one of these shower heads for 5 years so with good results so when i had to replace the head on another shower I purchased another one. Installation is simple and I was impressed again by the fact that there were no leaks even though the fittings were only hand tight. However in use the shower head emitted a very annoying high pitched whistle that increased in pitch and volume as the water flow was increased. Changing the shower spray pattern did not affect the noise. I returned the shower head and exchanged it. The next one didn't make noise but sprayed large volumes of water from the connection between the shower pipe and the magnetic holder. The gasket on this fitting is a flat rubber washer with a metal screen insert. The mating surface on the plastic magnetic holder was conical and when the fitting was tightened the gasket was pushed off-center down one side of the cone and would not seal. I returned the shower head and didn't bother getting another one. I really like the older one I have but enough is enough. Two strikes and you're out.
Nice shower head but not what I needed
I installed this shower head no problem with no tools. After watching a YouTube install video I bought some teflon plumbing tape for $2 to wrap around the pipe coming from the wall. No leaks! However the magnetic holder did not have enough flex in it to direct the water where it needed to go so I exchanged it for a Moen Ignite shower head which has a ring to hold the shower head. This allows me to twist the shower head more into the centre of the shower.
Design flaw in good product
We like the magnetic shower head. The cradle connection is made of plastic, has cracked. Finding a replacement part has proved very difficult. Perhaps they need to upgrade to a nickel plated metal one for the strength. Overall satisfied with the shower head and hose.
Listen to the reviews!
I spent too much time researching shower heads due to my thick - long (lower back) length hair. I require a good amount of water pressure to achieve a real clean feel. However, I still had a budget for our forced bathroom remodel. The thought of paying some of these prices, crippled me... for a shower head because it's not traditional chrome, maybe? I disregarded so many reviews telling myself to think of all the other positive reviews. Surely they would have come back and edited their opinion if something went wrong with the product?!? Right? 3 months = $25 per month for a now broken shower head. Due to the quality of the product not the user. Please see photos of the inner tube ballooned out causing the actual head to fly off and attack unexpected naked me! So, much worse than dropping the shampoo bottle on your toe when your eyes are closed surrounded by the warm water then Bam!
Not ideal for larger showers.
This appears to be a nice design, and the magnetic feature is nice, but there are 2 design flaws and 1 cosmetic flaw. Design flaw #1 The head sprays in a narrow pattern. This makes it ideal for a narrow rectangular shower, not a larger shower in a master bedroom. Design flaw #2 The wand hits the wall when trying to angle it down to direct the spray on you. There's no "wiggle room." It's either spraying past you where it's not needed or just barely down to where it's useful. To compensate for this, you would need to replace the pipe from the wall with a longer pipe. That would allow you to continue shifting the angle further downward. The cosmetic flaw is that for all the beauty in the brushed nickel, the grey plastic ruins the appeal.
Moen shower head
I dont love it. The shower head is too small and at an awkward angle once installed. My old one was perfect but unfortunately it broke down in a place that could not be fixed so I purchased this $99 moen one. Can't adjust the shower head as I would like to when using . The hose is too short as well. I may take it back yet.
Serious Design Flaws - She's going back
I bought this and when I returned home I decided to read some reviews prior to installation. I dismissed the "hose" issue people were having, thinking I could figure it out. After installation I let the wand hang down and ran the faucet on full hot to ease the hose into a more natural shape. The hose did indeed become slightly more malleable, and I assumed I got the "kinks" out of it. Immediately I found the wand would not stay engaged with the magnet at the angle required to use this as a standard shower head. I tried adjusting the mounted "T" angle to allow a more gentle looping of the hose. This helped slightly, however it gave me a false sense of accomplishment. During the first use the wand fell off (magnet is too weak for even the slightest hose misalignment), proceeded to hit me in my face as it fell to a hanging position. I'm done trying to get this to work as it should.
Great faucet for the price
I was going to install this myself because the instructions were pretty straightforward, but had to call a plumber after all because my shut off valves were bad. The faucet isn’t as heavy as the Delta I was replacing, but it looks like better quality. The spray pattern on this is like a fan, which is great for spraying plates and plates and other large items. The water and spray force is very powerful and water splashes on the counter. I definitely don’t need the button that makes it even more powerful. My sink is on an open island, so no backsplash. I would give it 5 stars, except the weight that keeps the spray hose in place had to be secured with a zip tie (not supplied). It was even in the instructions to use a zip tie. I didn’t need the base plate because I only had one hole and it fit perfectly. The base plate looks cheap and if I had to use it I probably would have returned the whole faucet and bought a different one. Lastly, the lever to turn it on and off can be put on the right or left side. I would have preferred it to be on the right since we are all right handed, but the hot water would have been pull forward, which is way too easy to accidentally do every time you need to turn on the sink. That’s not good for my tankless gas water heater or my grandkids that like to get a step stool to wash their hands and help me cook. So, it is on the left and will take a bit to get used to, but everything is functioning beautifully and I am happy with my purchase.
Great shower head, easy install, strong magnet.
The house we are renting had a terrible shower head. This was a fantastic replacement and went on super easy. No tools needed. I was worried about the magnet holding the moveable head in place - but it's way stronger and more secure than I had thought it would be. Lots of setting options as well. Definitely recommend.
Broke after 6 months
Worked great for 6 months, lifted up and away and the swivel joint broke away from the back of the head just before the incoming water line connecting threads. Plastic appears to be quite thin.
Terrible - Inflexible Hose
I thought I was buying Moen quality, but was I ever surprised and disappointed. The handheld sprayer was good, the hose is terrible. It is not flexible and thus cannot be seated well on the magnet. To get a good, stable magnetic grip, you need to aim the head up very high, and even then it comes loose from the magnet. I tried running extremely hot water through the hose to make it more pliable, but after 30 minutes, there was no improvement. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU WANT A GOOD SHOWER EXPERIENCE.
It leaks and it's made of plastic
I tried with and without teflon tape, and all levels of tightness, including hand tight with 1/4 turn with a wrench. It always leaks where it connects to the pipe coming out of the wall. The washer in the connection also gets deformed at any level of tightness over the lightest finger tightening. Maybe the end of my pipe is sharper than typical and doesn't mate with the washer correctly, but I don't care. This cheap plastic hand shower isn't worth any extra expense to get it to work. Oh, and I tried to call Moen on a Saturday, which I'd think is the traditional day of home repairs, and they're closed. They want me to call back on a weekday, my traditional day of being at work. They might need to rethink their support center days off, if they really cared.
When my hand-held shower head sprang a leak and the settings could no longer be changed, I bought this item. I am short, so it was always a stretch to get the shower head back in the holder. Enter the new Moen Escape! The magnetic hold makes it so easy to replace - it just snaps right on. The six settings are easily changed, but you do have to do this while holding in your hand. It was so easy to install - just insert the washers, wrap with plumber's tape, and yes, tighten only by hand, and voila! it's done. The hardest part was getting the old head off the pipe. I'm so pleased, I ordered a second one for my other bathroom.
Worst Handheld Shower head I've purchased
I was given a 75% off coupon and purchased this. It is not a metal hose, it's plastic. The magent wont stick to showerhead due to the plastic hose getting in the way since it wont relax the slack on it like a metal one will. It's quite distrubing that a product like this is even being sold when you can't even use it for what it is meant to be. Also the shower head the connection to the head is plastic , my experience in the past with a magnetix is that the plastic head broke after a year or so of use- wouldn't be surprised for this to happen as well over time.
Wonderful selection for accessibility
I recently broke my ankle and had to start using a shower chair. It is a struggle to use a standard shower head as it is hard to lean back and adjust while sitting and especially when in pain.
