Fantastic Planter!

I used mine for trailing vinca. It trailed over %26 down the planter, almost covering it completely. A neighbor asked if it was a shrub, not knowing the vinca covered the planter. Stunning %26 beautiful result, as the vinca had room to grow %26 trail.

Handsome. lightweight planters

These are handsome planters. The concept of self-watering by growing the roots to the very depths of the container is dubious. The lightness is fine for home, but something of a problem in a public building. The plant inserts took ingenuity to remove so that we could put rocks in the bottom to prevent theft. Still, they look good, and I have high hopes for them.

These planters are BEAUTIFUL at the front of my house! They extend the entry way and draw your eye to the front door. I used a spray paint especially made to paint plastic in order to match the green door, steps and latticework of the house. I love them - they make the exterior of my house feel welcoming and like ‘home.’

Mayne Self Watering Planter

I bought two of these to place in the front of my house. I had them shipped straight to the house. They are very strong and very pretty. They are the classic look and look great next to my white fence. These will definitely last a long time. One great important feature is the self watering resevoir inside the planter so that you don’t have to water as often, as well as the shelf inside, so that you do not have to fill your planter wih dirt which would make this planter too heavy to move. Its just perfect! Glad that I got them while they are still in stock!

I love these and then I don’t. I have had mine for over two years now and after a year of use I decided to drill a hole at the bottom to prevent them from holding water. I got these in the spring and I really hoped the concept would work and prevent me from asking neighbours to water our plants while on vacation, but in reality by the time the root system of the plants get mature enough to reach the lower soil and dip into the reservoir of water in the lower compartment, the season ends and winter arrives. With all that water inside them, these need to be moved inside, which is very challenging when they weight a LOT. The evergreens have died inside and next springs we had to tilt these sideways to drain the rotted water soggy soil, which was such a mess. So we decided to drill holes at the bottom, preventing them from retaining water, yet allowing them to stay out year around, which begs the question why get one in the first place for such function. We live in MA and winters are harsh. I do like the look of them, but that’s about it. Less

I don't recommend this unless it's just for "looks"

Nice big tall planter. But you can only put water into the reservoir through the top (where the plant is planted, which means dirt will also move through into the reservoir), there is no outside access to add water unless you drill a hole into the structure (which they suggest you do, but they don't do that for you in the construction product design). Also, the "tray" in the center can NOT be removed, despite their instruction book that says it just lifts out, which is does NOT as it is wedged under the interior design of the planter. It's attractive however, so I put silk plants in mine and avoid the problems mentioned here. Also, that way, I don't have to monitor if a real plant is getting enough water in the troublesome reservoir.

We ordered this online from HD for the style, color and maintenance free material. The size is perfect for between our garage doors and looks great. We also bought a 12 in. Torino Square Silver Plastic Planter from HD in silver/black. It slips perfectly into the top of this planter if you want the ability to remove what you plant easily - and use less soil/dirt. When fitted together, the 12 in. Torino Square Silver Plastic Planter looks as though it's part of the Nantucket Planter. They are a great combination. Because we are not using the self-watering feature, we placed rocks in the bottom to prevent it from tipping over. If you too combine the two planters, you may want to drill drain holes in the 12 in. Torino Square Silver Plastic Planter, depending on the plants used and location. Less

I ordered the White version of these tall pot planters to coordinate with my white front porch veranda. They look great situated in a row, and are very stable on flat surface. I tried to remove the inner tray, but it was REALLY difficult, without resorting to using a tool (screwdriver). Since I didn't want to damage the inner compartment, I left the tray inside, and simply added 2-3 inch layer of small stones for better irrigation, then filled up the containers with potting soil. The added weight of the stones & soil provided further stability; the planters haven't been knocked down by strong winds (yet). The 20 year warranty is a really great selling feature, as I purchased cedar wood planters 15 years ago from a big box store, and most of them degraded within 10 years due to harse inclement weather. So pleased I discovered these planters through Wayfair!! Less
