This was the perfect bookcase/display case for my small studio. The upright case saves floor space. People who see it who live here in this senior assisted living place, ask me where I got it.

Worth the time and Money

This set of shelves is everything it was advertised to be and worth the time it will take you to put it together (unless you're a handy man which I am not) The shelves have space for everything you want to store while beautifying your office or living room.

Not actually for books

This is really for picture frames and knickknacks. The shelves can’t hold the weight when filled with books or papers. Very disappointing. It’s a bad design with not enough support for the shelves.

Searched high and low for this quality of bookcase

This is a great bookcase. I looked at all the popular retail furniture sites, and everything in the under $300 price range had reviews that made it obvious the shelves couldn't actually support books (as opposed to trinkets and such.) This bookcase is actually designed to support hardbound books, and unlike virtually all the other ones I came across, the back is not made of flimsy cardboard. It's a solid piece of wood. I managed to assemble it by myself, which was relatively easy, even though the instructions were pretty crappy without any text and slightly confusing illustrations. In the end, the assembly is pretty intuitive. It did take a while, and because of the weight, I would definitely recommend assembling with another. All in all, I'm super happy with it. I know it's going to last. Also, I like having the feet at the base. It feels more stable than it would otherwise.

Sturdy

When putting it together, I sometimes mixed up the direction the boards should sit, so putting it together was time-consuming and a two-person job. When I tried to pull apart a piece that I put together wrong, the particleboard around the peg broke. I Super glued the peg back in place, and the bookshelf is sturdy.

This unit is very well built and sturdy. The legs lift it off the floor to make it easy to clean the floor under it.
