I did a lot of research before selecting two of these beautiful mercury glass pendants for over my kitchen island. I wanted a statement piece, but, we do not have high ceilings, and we are a very tall family & don't like the light to obscure our view across the island when standing, so, I needed a fixture that was wider than it was tall. This 12" wide fixture fit the bill perfectly. The only reason I have not give these pendants fives stars is because of the unstable way the shade is designed to balance on a tiny washer. The teeny tiny diagram does not give much/any information as to how either the metal or plastic washers are supposed to be correctly installed. I played around with the assembly for a while, & decided this set up was not going to work for me, just changing the bulb would have easily cause the whole shade to crash down and shatter on my granite island. So I went to the hardware store, purchased two metal rod and pendant kits for $20 each & used the kits with the Kichler shades. The kits hold the shade in a simple, secure, "normal" way & I am very happy with the outcome. I put the pendants up myself with no issues and they look beautiful. Essentially I should have just ordered a pair of Kichler shades without the pendant assembly parts, but, it only cost me $40 extra to put them up in a secure way, so overall I am happy. I'll find another place to use the Kichler metal rod pendant assembly, but with a non breakable shade - rattan or metal!

This is a gorgeous fixture, and I'll give it high marks for looks, even though we eventually replaced it because it just had too much "presence" in a small-ish kitchen with 8' ceilings. A 9' ceiling and it would be perfect... or in a tall foyer area.

Beautiful light

I love the style of this light and it looks great hanging over my kitchen sink in front of a row of 3 windows. The way that the glass shade is held in place is not very sturdy, so be extra careful when installing and cleaning. I feel like it should be better secured because it can become easily dislodged. Mine arrived with a chip in the glass, but customer service was quick to send a replacement.

Design Fail

Love the look without a doubt, however, the design of the light was not well thought out. the glass resting on top of moving parts makes it hard to clean and they never stay in place and are always crooked. Drive the OCD in me crazy. I have a newly built home and dealt with them to this point but I am now on the lookout for new lights that have a globe that is fixed in place.

How do you clean the mercury glass?

I have to replace a mercury glass pendant because of damage. I am interested in this one- but how do you clean the glass? The one I am replacing was problematic because I could not clean it- when I touched it the 'mercury' coating came off. I would like to replace it with another- but need to be sure that it is cleanable.

This fixture didn’t have a good method to hang from the ceiling. It felt like it would fall in an earthquake. So, I had to buy something to replace it.

Very happy with the lights and the price! High quality, arrived in perfect condition, sets the mood with Edison style old fashion night bulbs, very warm looking The glass fixture is had to maintain a level position after cleaning

Great Kitchler Light

Absolutely love this light. Perfect for over the sink. We wanted something that was similar, but did not match our pendant lights over the island. Easy installation!

Kishler Quality Very Poor

We ordered Kishler pendant lights for our kitchen island and found the glass shades float on a u-shaped washer and rubber spacer and are not fastened securely to the light. I called their engineering to see it something was missing because the glass shade kept falling out when we tried to clean it. The said to use two people when changing light bulbs or cleaning it. We returned all three pendants immediately. My wife ordered more lights. It took 6 weeks. We went to pick them up today. OMG!!! She accidentally ordered Kishler again. Cheaply made. Same poor engineering. Screws to mount to the ceiling too long. Vague, incomplete instructions. Avoid Kishler!!! It’s our 37th anniversary and we’re fighting over this crap. I just dont feel like taking them down and shipping them back again.

Looks great but very poor instructions. The instructions are not complete in explaining how to attach the glass globe to the down-rod and it seems to just balance on top of the large split washer. Two large plastic and two large metal split washers were included but the diagram and written instructions do not show how they install and the globe seems very insecure possibly even posing a safety hazard if somebody tries to clean the glass globe.

Beautiful mercury glass shaded fixture

I love the mercury glass glob because of the shine but also it partially hides the bare bulb and won't show every bit of dust that lands on it. I love the interesting and traditional shape it has. Purchased two to go over my kitchen island

Truly stunning.

Absolutely gorgeous light. The only thing I wish it was a little 'safer' about is the mercury glass literally just sits on a washer. Gravity holds the pendant down and in place. Seriously beautiful though!

Love the shape but not the glass

Unfortunately, the glass looked more dirty to me then elegant.

The lights are great quality and substantial. Note from my electrician is that the mount that holds the glass in place is not so stable so you would not want to accidentally knock them.

This is a great looking light fixture. I took off one star because the glass is somewhat soft and easily chipped. While putting the glass on the pendent, it chipped, even with careful handling. We love this fixture, and just hope that it will last.

Gorgeous Fixture with One Big Flaw

I shopped for quite awhile to find the right clear glass pendant light for my butler's pantry. I wanted a medium size fixture with enough curvature to be interesting, but also not too busy. This one fits the bill perfectly, with a graceful silhouette that combines modern styling and historic charm. The chrome accents add sparkle as well. I'm using a dimmable edison bulb in the pendant which gives off a nice warm light. Overall this fixture was a great choice for my cottage kitchen remodel. Now for the problem. When installing, the pieces barely fit together and it was very difficult to balance the pendant so it did not look lopsided. I know I'm going to face the same issue when it comes when it comes time to change the bulb or clean the glass, as the pieces just float on top of each other and don't fit together securely. I don't regret my choice but the build quality of this fixture is a definite flaw.
