Great product, packaging needs a little improvemen
The filter itself is great! The problem lies in the packaging. I generally buy these filters from another brick and mortar store, but as usual, Walmart’s pricing was way better. I have 4 dogs and these filters really keep the dust level down. They also last at least 50% longer than the cheaper, lower rated pleated filters.
No longer have to comp with plants for oxygen.
I like that my family is no longer dusty And allergen free. what I recommend other shoppers do before purchasing is find out where your air filter is located. I did not know with my own home and it helps so much. we breathe in same air a whole time now new fresh air good.
excellent allergen blocker and dust mite barrier
this is my favorite, affordable air filter.
False advertising!
False advertising! The picture shows 4 filters in a pack for $18.97, but when I received my order, I only got one filter. I complained to the guy but he couldn’t do anything. So, I returned it and went to Lowes to buy two.
Good Customer Service
The product fit. I parked in the garden center parking lot. I was immediately greeted by Jyla. She stopped what she was doing and walked with me to help find my product. Jyla has great customer service skills and enjoys interacting with customers. In this day and time it is hard to find young people with such skills. Jyla should be rewarded for her customer service skills.
More expensive isn’t always better
Ease of use, cost effective dust and allergen filter! The more expensive versions aren’t always the better options. This filter has an MPR (micro particle rating) of 1500, and an MERV rating of 12, which is more than sufficient for the average home. The filter is ‘thick’ enough to trap small particles from dust, pet dander, bug debris, bacteria, viruses, etc, but still ‘thin’ enough that it doesn’t overly restrict airflow to your furnace/AC unit. Unless you burn candles all day, every day and have a fireplace on and going daily, and therefore have soot to filter, or someone in your home is severely asthmatic, or COPD, or another respiratory disease that already makes breathing difficult, there’s no reason to go for the MPR1900/MERV13 (the blue one). If you do notice that your house maybe isn’t getting cool enough in summer, or warm enough in winter, you would likely benefit from going even lower than this purple one, to the red, which is MPR1000/MERV11 for better air flow. The particle size allowed through is slightly larger, but we’re still talking microparticles here. Small enough that the naked eye prob won’t be noticing a difference- but the air flow will be increased! Hopefully, if you’re new to filter buying (new homeowner? If so, congrats!!!), this helped! I’d recommend not buying a 2, 3, or 6 pack at first- but one of each, maybe red, purple, and blue, and see how they each perform for you. Are you dusting more or less? Are you sneezing more or less? Are you feeling the air coming from your vents, and feeling comfortable temperature-wise? Good luck!
Great fitting filters
I did research and found that pleated filters are better for your a/c unit than fiber glass spun filters as fiber glass has a tendency of not catching as much dirty air particles. I ordered the merv 8 filters as research had shown that they are what is required for Home use on older units. There filters fit right in and unit appears to be putting out better air flow than the previous merv 13 filters that I have been using. And best of all they are made in the USA. I will order more when I need to re-stock.
Great AC filter
My wife picked one of these up yesterday. I've been using cheap ones for years - pleated ones that I faithfully change every 3 months. I noticed that our air smelled fresh. She mentioned when she came home that she had installed a new filter she bought. I am extremely impressed. Don't think we'll ever use anything else. Even with our UV light in our unit this makes a noticeable difference. Well worth the extra investment. Great to have such clean, fresh air in our home.
Great product - just cannot use it
I recently bought a furnace and I have been told by a distributer of Lennox furnaces not to use the filters - with a Lowes customer representative present. Modern forced air furnaces, (my only guess is this allows for higher efficiency) lack the fan power to pull through any beyond a cheesecloth like membrane. Thus, if you are using a forced air furnace, you must accept and expect unfiltered air. Any use of a filter like this is just too much for modern furnaces.
Great filtration, but how much pressure drop?
A major concern with more efficient filtering is airflow restriction.
