Strong and great value

Super heavy and strong. It feels regid and I have made curry paste in it. It ground my lemongrass, garlic and spices well.

Ads for Mortar and Pestle sets should include both outer and inner diameters so the customer will know if they are getting the 1 in or 1/2 in rim size, since both at available and by the same manufacturer. I found the hard way that if the first picture is from directly above, that typically means a narrow rim, and a nearly head-on view means the more standard 1 in rim.

Great product

I bought one a week ago and it turned out better than expected. The outside is smooth and the inside is textured roughly for effortless pounding and grinding. Inner diameter is 5 inches and the depth is about 3 inches. The pestle is 6.5 inches long and is heavy enough to get the job done and still feel lighter. The volume is a little more than 500 ml, and the best part is looks stunning. All in all a fantastic product.

Excellent quality product. Larger size. Great value (price seems unreal for granite). Be sure to season it before use. Crushed up spices, onions, garlic nicely.

This is an excellent product - properly heavy - and does the job perfectly. The price is considerably lower than others we had looked at.

This mortar and pestle set is heavy duty, and large enough for big meal preparation. The coarse inside of the mortar makes grinding any item a breeze. The entire product screams quality!

This is extremely large and very heavy. I was expecting something smaller. However, it does do the trick. It might be a good thing it is larger since I can mix different spices at once.

Best value mortar

This mortar and pestle is everything most people would need. It is just big enough for larger sauces reaching a price point of much smaller mortar and pestles ($30 and under). The granite is an attractive well polished and the way the final finish is ground at a spiral angle seems optimum for muggling grinding. The bowl is big and deep, the cavity pretty much made from a perfect 1" thick bowl of granite with about 3/8" thick circular base. I do feel the base tapers down to a small area than expected (makes it almost look like its floating on the countertop) and there is not much extra thickness at the bottom but it does seem very sturdy and should be stronger then most home chefs need. This is a 2nd one for me, I have a larger heavier one too and do not regret that and recommend getting as big as possible, but for the cost its diminishing returns and this is a fantastic value and hits all the spots a good mortar and pestle should have.

It's solid rock so glue something to the bottom so it doesn't scratch your counters or table. Never had a Mortar and Pestle before. Seems well made. Used a couple of times. Washed and oiled. I bought the larger size because I can always grind small amounts if need be.

this is/was my 1st granite mortar purchased and I actually returned it, bc the inside bowl is impossible to get fully clean. Due to the rough surface, no matter how many times you wipe it out with a paper towel, there is always grey granite dust (?) residue showing. I imagine this might then be in the prepared food items as well. I may try a smooth-surface marble mortar instead.

I bought this item because it is one of the bigger type available.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! My hubby bought me this mortar and pestle for Valentines Day.... he let me have it early! It's solid and well made. It's actually cheaper than I expected it to be. Guacamole has become beyond easy to make. I feel like a cooking pro with this baby!
