Love it. I haven’t used it yet, however, the quality is weighted and well made. Looking forward to using this product/cooking.

Great Mortar

this mortar comes with a pestle it hold approximately 1 cup volume. it does an amazing job grinding different foods. i love it. it's easy to clean too. only reason I give 4 stars is because I wish it was a little bigger for the price and but I would buy this again

These work very well. I was skeptical whether they would add value on top of just putting a tray under the herb pot / repotting the herbs and watering them. They do: they last longer and are more stylish than having a supermarket herb pot out on the open. They are absolutely not necessary if you don't mind watering your herbs every couple of days, but I normally forget, and these last about a week so I'm very happy I have them.

Cheap and Possibly Harmful

I was so excited to get this M & P for Christmas. I had chunks of sea salt that needed to be crushed, so I put the salt in the mortar and began to crush it. The white salt turned gray and black!! Whatever this product is made of, it comes off on your food. Needless to say, this item quickly went in the trash (more than 30 days so I could not return it). Don't waste your money. Invest in a higher quality M & P.

Heavy and works well

Heavy and sturdy. Good product. It is pretty heavy as it is solid stone. There are grooves in the base of the mortar making it a little bit challenging to clean. Good product that will last for decades.

Black Granite Pestle and Mortar

I found this at Target after searching the internet and only finding similar items that were twice as expensive. I took it out of the box and immediately ground flaxseed and chia seeds, as recommended by my eye doctor for dry eyes. I was expecting it to take some serious time and energy without electricity, but my seeds were almost completely powder in less than a minute! I am very pleased by the heavy quality of the item, the packaging it came in, the price, and the efficiency. Very highly recommended.

Love it

I didn’t think I would like this little thing, but here I am on the verge of ordering a second one. Aesthetically, it matches my granite countertop and granite cutting board but that’s a personal preference. For functionality, i love the longer pestle and deep bowl. It serves my purpose of smashing a few garlic gloves or chile pepper. No need to get my big granite one for such a small task. The item however didn’t come with instructions on whether it needed to be cured but however it does say it’s unpolished for a rough grinding surface. Using my experience And judgement I decide to grind some rice to rid of any gray granite powder which I did find even after I rinsed the item off. Will repeat the process until no residue is left and use my new kitchen tool ASAP.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thought of a project that I needed one of these for, did a quick google search, target had multiple for same day pickup, I drove to the store, and walked out with exactly what I needed for less than $20. Though this isn’t going to be used for food but rather grinding of periodic elements like charcoal and other substances that can break down to fine powders, it will do exactly what I need it to. Great quality. Real stone. Heavy. Very thick walls. Could fit a baseball in it just about perfectly. Looks cool. No complaints. After all, it’s a bowl and thick stick made from stone. How bad could it be? Haha.

Great Mortar and Pestle

I can't believe that I have purchased one of these before but this mortar and pestle is great. I followed the instructions on how to season it and reduced dry rice kernels to rice flour, made garlic paste, and reduced pepper corns to exactly what I wanted for my recipe. It is great. It weighs a lot and has a solid base so it is very easy to use. All you have to do for cleaning is water - no soap, no dishwasher.

compact, lightweight and easy to clean

Compared to other mortars and pestles I've used, this is very easy to maintain and carry. I've dealt with heavier ones that made me feel as though I were training to be a bodybuilder rather than a homecook. This is very light, though there is a bit of weight to it. It gets the job done perfectly and is small enough that you can store it away easily.

Beautiful mortar and pestle.

I got this mortar and pestle to grind eggshells and small amounts of coffee beans. It's an easy-to-handle size, well-packaged, inexpensive, and pleasant to use. Others have said it needs seasoning, but it seemed to be pre-seasoned out of the box. The inside felt smooth and oiled. I ground some rice in it at first to check and the rice was clean. Highly recommend.

Great Gift

I purchased this item as a Christmas gift for my dad. He ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT!! He cured it and has been using it! It has a great weight and is very sturdy. So glad I read the reviews and chose this one!! It's beautiful! He wants more than one. I may get him a couple more he loves them so much!
