So promising, but not as durable or easy to use as hoped
I was initially really happy with this tumbler, but it dings and scratches very easily where my other tumblers have not. The straw broke really easily, for example. I did put a protective boot on it, but that doesn't cover all of it. the inside metal is also quite thin and easily dented. Plus it's so well sealed that it doesn't spill, which also means it's hard to draw up water easily through the straw. I am going to switch to a hydro flask tumbler, which has a far better straw and works well both to avoid spills AND to let you actually get water out through the straw. Finally, it's so tall that it tips very easily.
Great purchase
I own 3 of these cups and have nothing but great things to say. I was so surprised by the negative reviews I just read because I haven't experienced any of those issues. I purchased 2 40-oz tumblers a little over a year ago. One for me and one for my husband. Initially, I thought it was a very expensive cup just to hold water. However, one day, I left the cup in my car overnight and asked my husband to go get it. When he came back inside, he said do hou know there is still ice in this cup. The cup had been in my car well over 24 hours, and we live in sunny California. I was amazed, and so was he. After that, I purchased him one. We both use our cups every day with no issues with sweating or leaking. I purchased my 3rd cup last week and hope I continue to have no issues.
👎🏼DONT DO IT!!👎🏼
First of all I have 4 Owala freesip tumblers and have no issues with them at all, love them. This is the worst stainless steel tumbler I've ever had! It sweats terribly and of course don't hold ice at all. Owala and Target both have generic customer service responses and they're a joke. Owala requires a receipt to submit a claim which I didn't keep since all four of my other Owalas are of such high quality. If all you want is a pretty tumbler for decor, have at it. If you want a tumbler to keep drinks cold, this isn't for you. So disappointed & disgusted with Owala.
Quality:good
Broken straw and handle<1yr
NOT DURABLE. Had less than 1 year. Handle unattached and straw broken. I wanted to be an owala girly bad but the freesip I had literally fell apart in my hands and this… just no. The straw snapped in half so I’m already using an after market straw because they’re always sold out. We’ve had to tighten the handle more than once. Now the welds broke. It’s still a cup but without a handle on a big tank like this it’s just not easy to use.
[Rewarded Review] Worth it
My husband bought this for me for valentines and i absolutely love it!! I have several other tumblers- ozark trail, tervis, stanley dupes, stanley, etc- and this is definitely one of my favorites. I have owned several owala cups before and have never had any issues with them. The top is spill proof which is great since i work in a doctor's office. As far as it keeping ice, no issues there either-keeps for 2-3 days. Its definitely worth the price. I highly recommend this cup for anyone.
Ice melted within 4 hours
The tumbler itself is cute, however it does not keep your drinks cold for longer than a couple hours at a time. I filled mine halfway with ice this morning at about 7:00 and then the rest of the way with water, and by 11:00 I realized that all the ice had melted and my water was just room temperature. The lid was on securely, and my tumbler was not sitting in any direct sunlight so for the ice to be melted within 4 hours is disappointing. Other tumblers I’ve used will keep ice from melting for a day at a time sometimes. Won’t be buying anymore from this brand.
Not Durable, Terrible Cup
This review has been copied from the one i submitted on the Owala official website. I purchased the Owala 40 oz tumbler in the color Polar Brrrr from Target less than a month ago. I was looking for something larger than my Hydroflask 32 oz, something that had a handle, sip or straw, was leak proof, and fit in my cup holder. After lots of research to determine which brand i should buy from i landed on Owala. This is my first ever Owala cup as i’ve been a loyal Hydroflask user for years now. Within my first 24 hours of owning this bottle it fell at work and dented the bottom of the cup. After reaching out to some Owala groups on social media they all suggested i get a boot fit for my cup. So now i have a boot but it doesn’t help because the design of the cup is so top heavy that it falls and tips very easily. in my years of owning hydroflasks i’ve dropped them a few times and they’ve never had paint scratch off the way the Owala does. This morning it fell out of my backpack while walking to my car and hit the concrete. the plastic lid is scratched where the "sip" is making it scratch my lip and the handle popped off when i picked it back up after it fell. I’m not sure if this is typical of Owala bottles since it is my first one and i’m VERY disappointed that i cannot get a refund because i invested in this bottle for college when i already am low on funds. I’m so disappointed with my purchase because i had such high hopes. On a positive note, this cup IS leak proof given the straw drips a bit on initial tipping and it does keep drinks hot and cold for hours. I just wish it held up better since its price point is quite high. I wish I would’ve just invested in the Hydroflask model instead of this one as I know they’re more durable.
Love these tumblers
These Owala tumblers are my absolute favorite. I'm clumsy and have a habit of knocking over/dropping things. These cups are very durable, and as many times as I've already knocked it over and dropped it I haven't had any leaking or damage to the cup. Also, I don't know what it is about these specific tumblers, but my autistic kid who usually will only drink milk is constantly taking my Owala (which I use only for water) and drinking it. I'll definitely be buying more.
Just Get a Stanley instead....
Frustrated does not begin to express how I feel. After only a few months of use the top portion of the handle on my Owala has broken and seperated from the body of the tumbler. All other aspects of the cup prior to this were great. It kept things cold for long periods of time and I honestly like the design vs a Stanley. Very disappointed in the build low quiality though. I should've spent a little extra and purchased a Stanley (Which I now am going to have to do because I didnt save my receipt from this purchase so I cannot file a claim thorugh Owala without proof or purchase) :(
Hands down my favorite cup!
I love this cup! I did not want to spend the money on the Stanley! And I didn’t like the feel of the Stanley, this handle feels more durable, the straw attachment comes off nicely for cleaning and is not flimsy. The seal is great it keeps ice cold for 3 days. I have actually left it out on the counter and ice is still in it with water or my beverage. The only downfall is Target does not carry extra straws. And I wish they would. I like to have extras because I am known for the straw that goes down the garbage disposal. Or it slips through the dishwasher and melts.
She gets the job done!
I haven’t experienced the handle breaking off or any rust like other reviews in the 3 weeks I’ve owned it so far! Aside from that, I think most people have given it a bad review because people keep thinking a water bottle structured like this should be applicable in every single setting. This is PERFECT for my bedside table. This is GREAT for my car’s cup holder. Cute on my desk. But a workout? Running various errands? I’d never think to use it for that. It’s not practical. If you can afford this, you likely own other types of water bottles that are far more versatile than this. Just accept that these Stanley’s and their knock offs aren’t meant to be paraded everywhere. It’s okay! This water bottle is great, but just like 99% of water bottles. It’s not revolutionary. It’s truly not that deep, y’all.
Great 40 Oz tumbler!!
I keep putting a Stanley 40 Oz in my cart but never actually buy it because it's not leak proof. This one is! I love the colors (I got white so that the stickers I bought show up really nice on it) and I love the lavender highlights. The seal on the lid comes off and should be cleaned at LEAST once a week. All bottles are this way or yes, they will get moldy. Gross, I say, too people who aren't cleaning their bottles. The only complaint I have would be how the handle is attached. It screws into a tiny metal piece welded to the cup. Mine became loose after a couple weeks and tightening it didn't help. I finally unscrewed it and bent the metal pieces a bit so it was more snug when I reattached the handle, then rescrewed it in. It's tight now, but not like when purchased. If they could do a better attach job that would be great! With that, it would be perfection!!! As is, it's very close!! 98% perfect. Love it!!!
Stanley Who? You NEED this Cup.
There's a lot of hype going around with the Stanley cup, and in an era where we're encouraging drinking water, everyone definitely wants to find "the cup". I read a LOT of reviews regarding many different cups, and took awhile before committing, but I always went back to the Owala. It came highly recommended from one of the few influencers I trust, and let me tell you, IT.DID.NOT.DISAPPOINT. If you're in the market for a solid, durable, reliable and investable cup, this is the ONE. I am SO glad I finally took the plunge and ordered this cup, my water intake has increased exponentially, it keeps drinks colder for much longer, no leaks, and I love that I have the straw option, but still maintaing the cold. That's unheard of. My boyfriend loves his Yeti, and I finally found my female version. 10/10 recommend, you need this.
Great Tumbler
I see a lot of other review that are similar to what I want to say about this lil cup! I was waiting for the Tie Dye Stanley 40oz tumblers to be in stock at target. I was going on a lil road trip and was hoping to get one before then. But they never restocked so I did some research, looked at other tumblers and their reviews, and landed on the Owala 40oz Tumbler. I got one for me and one for my mom! It’s an amazing cup, it’s holds ice all day, it fits nicely in my cup holders, and it’s toddler friendly!! My 2 year old loves to use it (steal it from me) and it’s easy for him to hold plus it doesn’t really leak! It’s slightly cheaper than the Stanley and I really glad I got the Owala!!! If your looking for a cup similar to the Stanley ones (same capabilities) than this is a great option!!
Better than Stanley IMO
First let me write about my experience with Stanley as I assume like many others I opted for this cup due to those never being in stock. I purchased a Stanley 30 oz tumbler due to all the hype. I like the style and the fact that they have so many different colors. The CONS I found are: - The straw does not hold shape if you are a biter (my children love drinking out of my cup and I had to buy another pack of Stanley straws because they flattened both ends of the straw which leads to my next point) - The straw comes out SO easily. My kids are constntly pulling it out throwing it on the floor (gross). - I didn't want to continue to buy straws that were specific for this cup. You can only find them online at certain palces and after shipping I spent over $20 ON STRAWS. Let that sink in.... (insert eyeroll) This led me to the Owala. I LOVE this cup. THe straw holds shape so my little biter kids can drink from it and I don't have to deal with a flattened straw. It doesn't even have bite marks from how hard thr plastic is! Second, I actually flip the straw upside down so that the kids can't pull the straw out. They haven't pulled it out once in the week i've had it. Third, there is a suction that holds the straw which makes it harder for them to pull up. I am very pleased with this cup and happy I tried it out!
Owala fan from the beginning
I’ve been an owala fan for 3 years. They aren’t kidding when they say they design bottles for people who drink water. I’ve tried other reusable bottles over the years and ALWAYS comeback to my owala. I did fall for the Stanley hype. But I don’t get it. It’s cumbersome, doesn’t fit all that well in my cub holder, leaks at the slightest tip and doesn’t keep thing cold *that* long. I actually find myself drinking less water and reverted back to my 32 ounce owala, wishing they would make a Stanley dupe their way. So when I saw this, I knew it would be good! And I was not disappointed!! It is sleeker, doesn’t like, allows me to sip and use the straw with ease. I haven’t done an ice test yet, but I suspect it’s similar to my two 32 ounce originals (yes, I have two, I usually bring 3 liters of water to work with me as I’m particular and don’t like my work water). So so so excited! I’m happy to donate all my other reusables to anyone else. My collection is complete!
[Rewarded Review] Love this cup!
I was chosen to receive this product in an exchange for an honest review. I got the black one and absolutely love it! I bought and decorated my cup with UGA vinyl stickers! It looks so good! This is just a plus that makes me love this cup even more! It keeps my drink cold for hours (all day into the night) and you can use it with our without a straw. It has a straw spout or a mouth spout. I love how the cup fits in my car drink holder, and I love how it holds 40oz so I can drink more water in a day! The only negatives is that the cup is hand wash only, and after the cup of full it is a little on the heavy side. Overall I love this cup and would but another one!
Difficult to drink out of
I really wanted to love this product. My Owala Freesip is my favorite water bottle, but I was mildly envious of the Stanley cup users and the comfortable handle. Now, the handle of this tumbler is fantastic. It's big and comfortable, which is exactly what I wanted out of my emotional support water bottle. It also fits into a cupholder (a feature that I find nice, but not necessary. I found the feature to be more useful when at Target and using the cupholders in the shopping cart. As most stores don't have shopping cart cupholders, however, it will not be a well-loved feature for me). And while it's not completely leakproof, it's splashproof enough that I don't have to worry about the contents spilling if I knock it over. However, this cup is incredibly hard to drink from. The rubber around the straw seals so well that drinking through the straw creates a vacuum. I can only get a small mouthful of water in before water won't come up through the straw anymore. I can somewhat work around this by not screwing the lid on or by trying to expose the mouth-piece while the straw is in. However, neither of these are very good solutions. I am likely going to return this and purchase a new 40 oz Freesip bottle instead. While it doesn't have a handle, it IS completely leakproof when closed while still being easy to drink from. And while it won't fit in a cupholder, it does fit in my water bottle sling making the need for a cupholder essentially obsolete.
Great cup!
I am very impressed with this cup. I love the Periwinkle color with maroon and light gray accents. I also like that I can remove the straw without removing the lid (I have a 40 oz Reduce that I also like but requires removing the lid to remove the straw). I tipped it upside down just for fun to see how much it leaked which was very minimal, especially considering the straw was in. It fits perfectly in cup holders. It has kept my water super cold. I liked it so much that I came back and bought the Marine color for my husband. Also, I’ve seen several reviews mention a straw holder. It does have a “straw holder” when it’s packaged. But, it isn’t a part of the cup. It’s just part of the packaging. Just a heads up for anyone reading reviews to make a decision.
