[Rewarded Review] Good Electronic Deadbolt Lock

It does, the job well, with several handy features. We like the triple unlock options: key, code and app. Using the app to unlock is handy when your hands are full. The code is handy for the kid's or visitor's access, with a unique code for each. The app was just updated to reduce the number of notifications by allowing better tailoring of the ones you want instead of just ALL. It is a bit noisey when it cycles, so not for quiet entry or exit. It would gst 5 stars if quieter. The batteries don't last long in our busy household but are easy to replace. It takes standard alkaline AA batteries only which can be the longevity issue, and the manual states specifically to NOT use Lithium or Rechargeable batteries (something to do with battery voltage per online).

The lock is excellent! The main thing I absolutely LOVE about Kwikset is the re-keying process is super simple. The one thing that would've made this an outstanding product would be to provide at least a 15 second lock delay. 30 seconds is too long. But functionally the product is solid. The app is pretty reliable as well, but PLEASE add a 15 second lock delay option to it. That would make it perfect. Every once in a while the app doesn't update but that may have more to do with a connectivity issue than the app.

Upgrade to wifi

We had a kwikset electronic deadbolt on our door before, but wanted to upgrade to a WiFi model. Change over was very easy and does what we want. I like that I can give someone a one time access or add family members for full access. Nice product. Also really like Kwikset's Smartkey system makes it easy to keep my existing keys for all my doors. We used the original electronic deadbolt for the back door, so we did not waste a serviceable lock.

[Rewarded Review] Love the lock, S/W app is good and easy to use.

I love these locks. I've installed several on various houses.

Have two, one rarely works over the internet

I have two of these. They both eat batteries. I went against the guidance and installed rechargeable lithium batteries. That seems to work pretty well but the battery percentage will show 100% and then 10% then dead, so be careful!

Wishful Thinking

I was hoping this product would work for me, but it disconnected from my Wi-Fi within a day and would not reconnect. Sorry, but I don't have time to factory reset this device every time it has an issue. I returned it and got something from a competitor.

Battery issues constantly

Purchased this spring, cannot keep batteries in it. First set of batteries dead in a week. Contacted Kwikset and they helped me adjust setting to supposedly save battery life. That has not worked. Fresh alkaline batteries and does not matter the battery vendor they will be dead less than two weeks without any use. Good idea but poor product and waste of money. I do not recommend this item.

no replacement parts directly from manufacturer

Uses batteries at a set a month, on a seconday door that is used a few times a week. To replace the batteries you have to slide up on the interior window. The window is fragile and it broke after a year. Leaving the lock looking very unfinished and janky. I called the company to order a new window and they told me they do no sell the part directly to customers, and on top of that the part is only sold as a part of the whole interior cover. You have to get home depot to special order you the part

Call it a partial review. It has been in place for about three weeks now. I had to increase the size of the mortised strike assembly. I'm capable of this with chisels and patience, but not all folks would be. Additionally, I had to make some adjustments so that the bolt slides (lock and unlock) in a very smooth unbound manner. Now it works as expected. The Kwikset app through Android is a bit clumsy and counter-intuitive, but works. And I have it connected to my google home system, which seems to work fine. Finally, after just three weeks I've had to replace a set of batteries. That part bothers me the most because this is not my first newage-technical lockset. The previous one had battery life of 6 months. The battery thing might be a fluke, we'll see. Order to delivery took two weeks longer than the initial predicted date.

Great Lock for Your Front Door - Kwikset Halo

This Halo lock is really good. It looks great and the Wi-Fi connection and its application work well. This is the second lock. I first purchased for my current home and then I purchase it again for a new house being built in Arizona. I purchased type instead of the electronic screened Halo lock because some of the comments about the direct sun light makes it difficult to press the key. This is perfect. The negative thing is battery life. When the battery level gets around 50% or so, the lock starts to act up. This is a minor issue. Now, I am aware of it so I immediately change the battery as soon as I see the battery level to start getting at 50%.

Great Value Prop; Done Rough Edges

I've installed a half-dozen Auras to-date; this was my first Halo. Installing all those Auras taught me that, if the action is not butter-smooth on install, the lock will eventually start jamming. So 1.5 hours of fidgeting with the Halo and getting an extra click Every. Single. Time, I decided to just finish the install and crossed my fingers that I could rehand the lock and make it work. Luckily, it did.

Batteries repeated go dead in less than two weeks

I installed the Halo Keypad less than 5 weeks ago on 4/1/2024 and have so far had to replace the batteries 3 times. The door is not being opened open than half a dozen times a day. The WiFi signal at the location appears strong according to my cell phone. As an experiment, today I did a Factory Reset (Hold 'A' button until orange light comes on and then press PROGRAM button) to see if that will disable WiFi and blue tooth and to see if disabling all of the WiFi features will preserve battery life. If battery still goes dead in such a short time, I will be returning this to Home Depot or the manufacturer.

Don’t Waste Your Money

I have had this lock for a while now, and I thoroughly regret this purchase. It is not a quality product. I had to have the entire hardware replaced because something in the internal mechanics broke. It got to the point I had to force the deadbolt with my hand—far too much force needed for the motor to do any good. It was jammed nonstop. I was on the phone with customer service for a long time, and they eventually sent me a new product. The problem is that this replacement is now having the same issue. I know it’s installed correctly because it worked for several months and then suddenly stopped working altogether. It looks nice, and there’s a lot of potential there. However, it’s not a hood product. They really need to start from scratch on this design. I need to talk to customer service again, but I’m sure this time I will be short of luck.

[Rewarded Review] Great Lock from a Company You Can Trust for Locks

Installation was easy. It works great. It doesnt randomly lock itself while open and damage our door area like the two previous locks we bought from Yale/Nest and August.

Constantly needs factory reset

If you’re using this for a short term or long term rental property that you don’t live near, purchase a different brand!

Lots of room for improvement!

First let me say that we use these halo locks at my elderly grandfather's house to all caregiving to take place without the need to hand out keys. Regardless of how it is used, there is much needed improvement to the app and the lock. We use Lithium batteries, yesterday one was at 70% and today it was nothing. I got an email saying that there wasn't sufficient battery to operate the keypad. This is not conducive for our situation or really anyone's situation. So, lesson learned is as soon as the batteries hit 70%, you need to change them. Don't bother with lithium, it doesn't extend the life. At best we get maybe 2 months out of it and the keypad is used about once or twice a day. I can't imagine people who have an Airbnb.

[Rewarded Review] Best Smart Lock with Wifi

I am using this Kwikset Halo SmartLock with Wifi for over a month now. Initially, I was reluctant because there are other brands at higher price points which didn't really get the job done, so this was just a trail. As soon as I got it, BB Totaltech, installed it for me and the Wifi set up was seamless, we tested it and perhaps the most seamless set up ever. I am so happy with this Kwikset Wifi Smart Lock at this price point, already recommended to multiple people and they are purchasing it. If you turn on the LED indicator, my guess is the batteries will last for 4 months atleast and without the LED indicator, definitely longer. The lock and unlock makes noise, you know that its set up and the app is very simple and seamless. Highly recommend, and I should have opted for this sooner.

not for Airbnb -Bluetooth ok, Wi-Fi is unreliable

Been using this lock for 1 yr. I live in TN the lock is on a house 650 mi. away in FL. Easy setup. Great initial experience. I chose this lock because it had Wi-Fi capabilities so that I could program guest codes for short-term rentals remotely. At least once every 60 days it has lost connection to the Wi-Fi making it impossible to program remotely. Three times the lock came back online on its own within a couple of days. Twice we were able to fix by having someone go to the house and reset our Wi-Fi and power cycle the lock. Approximately 6 weeks ago a storm knocked out the power in the area and the lock has not reconnected to the Wi-Fi since. We have reset our Wi-Fi, replaced the batteries, power cycled the lock... everything except a factory reset which will require us to make the 10-hour drive one way to accomplish. Kwikset customer service has been useless.

Horrible battery life, App keeps getting worse.

After 3 years with this lock, the batteries last 2 months, never the 6 months promised. Only once did they last 2 1/2 months, and few times less than two months. They will, for no apparent reason, lose your key-in code, and just today the lock had to have a hard reset, deleted from the app, and then re-added to the app and all new codes added for each individual. It claimed the batteries were nearly dead after 2 weeks but they still test strongly. I've done all the updates, but it didn't help.

Halo Smart lock

I've had the Halo with key for about 2 years. I've contacted support maybe 6 times. My biggest issue is battery life the lock last tops 3 months with limited use. I'm gone for 6-7 months so the battery life is a big issue. Kwikset has had me add a booster, not use lithium batteries and now move my router much closer to the lock. I've also had issues with intermittent wifi connection to the lock some times it works some times not. As far as the look and working with keys all very good and the Google speaker connection now works well with the latest software. I can not recommend for those that need long battery life. My other issue is the battery indicator on the app is not always accurate and my lock goes from 50% to 20% life in a day? Maybe the new software will help that. I will try with new software but if I have battery issues it's in the garbage.
