Not water resistant!
I bought one of these (the exact same model) last year and it was, and still is, great. I bought this to "connect" to my existing one and double the size. All went well. They look good together. Then it rained. My existing one has a rubberized waterproof coating. The new one does not. The rain practically went straight through. You can see the difference in the attached photo. The left-hand one is the older waterproof one. Not impressed at all I have to say.
