Loudy and Loud

This fan was difficult to set up; the base doesn't fit together well. It doesn't oscellate at all, and I've tried multiple times to fix it. The only "oscellating" it does is spinning away from where I want it to face when I set it up to run. It's loud too, any setting above one is noisy enoug to wake me up at night. The fan noise ramps up and down at random, making it more unpleasant than if it were just loud at one volume. Absolutely miserable, barely even moves air, wish I had read reviews before buying one up in-store.

Practically Useless

Purchased when the AC unit for my home failed, as a stopgap until the HVAC techs could fix it. This thing is a useless piece of trash. It says 36", and sure the whole tower is that height, however what isn't mentioned is the actual fan mechanism inside that moves the air? It's like 8", and barely moves air that far out. If you sit right next to it, maybe it'll cool you down? Needless to say, I returned it. Avoid this product at all costs.

Doesn't move

Doesn't move. The fan turns on, but it won't turn at all. There's a clicking noise as if it's stuck. I guess you get what you pay for. I wish I had just spent the extra money instead of trying to go cheap. Now I'm wasting my time going back to return it and looking for something else. Manual was definitely the wrong choice, too. I won't make that mistake again.

Great cooling tower for summer!

This tower fan does a great job of circulating the air in large rooms during the intense summer heat. The fan was easy to set up out of the box and it is super handy having a remote to change the speed or the oscillation from across the room. My only complaint is that this is a very loud fan, even on the lowest setting.

Should have read the reviews

I just got this fan today. I should have read the reviews. I can deal with the volume, that doesn't bother me. But it is extremely unstable and rocks. It throws a decent but not great amount of air. I wish I had spent the extra $10 for the 40 inch, but I thought it was too large for the room. I have it together and my AC is out so I'm stuck with it now. If you are looking at this don't get it, get the 40 inch!!!!

Perfect in kids room

My kids get really sweaty in their room when they sleep, even with the AC on. They said they wished they had a ceiling fan like we do in our room. I decided to try this and it has been perfect! It’s big but not giant, works super well and is very sturdy. Even with them running around it’s never gotten knocked over. We have it in every night for them now and it oscillates to hit them both. It cools them off perfectly. They can turn it on, up or down themselves too. No complaints at all, I’m so glad I bought this. Price is amazing too!

Waste of mo

I purchased this can on one of the hottest days this summer. Got it home and it oscillated for maybe the first hour. Did a little troubleshooting which still didn't work so I exchanged it for a new one the same day. The second won't oscillate either. I called Holmes but the CS rep told me there is no way he can help me troubleshoot and I need to take it back to Target. I will be returning it for a full refund.

Cools, oscillation malfunctions out of box

Am I impressed with this fan? No. Does it cool down a room? Yes. The oscillating mechanism on this fan is faulty out of the box. First, the base itself is too moveable. Attaching the feet is likely what causes more problems for the oscillating function. The oscillating function catches every time and then it has to take 10-20’seconds to correct itself inly to get caught again on the next pass. But alas, it’s a $20 fan so it’s not like I’m expecting huge things. It cools, which is the point of a fan and why is didn’t get a lesser star review. Just be ware that you are receiving what you are paying for.

Does what it needs to

Taking one star off due to being broken inside the box. Tho I do think this might be Targets fault for improper shipping. Had to go into the store to get a replacement. As for the fan it self it works exactly as I need it and I dont really have any complaints. I was a little worried reading over peoples reviews saying the fan was loud or broke after a few uses or blew little air. I personally don't consider the fan to be any louder then what most fans are. I have a shoe box of room. So its not very big and the fan works well enough to cool the whole room. If you have a small room or office and are looking for a cheap but decent fan I think I'd recomend this fan to friends.

Worked for Two Days

I wanted an oscillating fan with a small footprint. This worked well for about two days. After that, every time the fan oscillated, it made loud noises and didn't move smoothly. I still have it, but use it as a stationary fan.

Get this fan while you can

I like everything about this fan. I have a small apartment and this fan helps cool my space even on a low speed and it does not take up space at a lot. It is not too loud just a hint of fan noise but its not enough to keep you up at night. Yes yes I would highly recommend.

Powerful & space saving fan

Love this slim space saving fan! Nice features: remote controlled, quiet, 3 speeds with timer & oscillation make this a good choice for bedrooms or any room where it’s not practical to have a larger floor fan. Would definitely buy again.

An okay fan.

I owned this fan for a short while and needed to return it. Fortunately I exchanged it for the Holmes New 40 inch Digital Tower Fan which is a much better value for money and produces more air flow while being much more quiet.

Good for smaller rooms.

This fan is just okay. It has nice features that are above what a basic tower fan has. But the air output isn't all that great, It's just okay. It's also on the louder side. This fan is very narrow so in order for it to generate any kind of air volume they needed to increase the motors RPM. But thankfully for a few dollars more you can buy the New "Holmes 40 inch Digital Tower Fan With Clear Display" the noise level at every setting is significantly lower and the air volume is much better. The build quality is also significantly better as well. That's exactly what I did and I'm very happy I did so. So to be honest if you want a 36 inch tower fan from Holmes either buy their 36 inch wifi fan which I also own or their new 36 inch Clean Breeze fan which has a removable blower assembly for easy cleaning. This particular Holmes 36 inch tower fan should cost maybe $35 tops not $40.

Spend the extra $10 for the next one up, this wont last a year

Worked great until it didn't. Used it all the time, turned it off periodically, unplugged it one night to move it to another room and the fan refuses to spin anymore. 11 months almost to the day and the motor gave out. Spend the extra $10 bucks and buy the next model up

Terrible

This fan is garbage. It lasted about 6 months and now barely has any power. Doesn’t cool you off whatsoever. There’s no difference between low and high mode on it anymore, and honestly the low is like literally hardly better than having nothing.

Loud, Uncleanable, & Cheap

The fan is very noisy, great for white noise but terrible if you want to hear the TV show you’re watching. Not sturdy, made of cheap plastic and is a hazard for anyone with small children, this fan has fallen over more times than I can count. There is no way to open the fan up to remove and clean all the dust. It isn’t a super high powered fan (I can only run it on Low due to the noise) and I constantly have it on, I’ve had it around 5 months so its worth it to me. I will not buy again when it dies.

Trash

Cheap build, noisy (clicking/rattling noises), inconsistent fan speed, and defective upon startup (some modes dont work). I got this for $18 clearance from $60 and it aint even worth 18 dollars. Returning immediately. This is a $60 fan???? If this is modern day Holmes, never buying that brand again.

Decent fan, could use some more power.

so bought this when our ac went out to make sure we had some air flow going with windows open while it was still cool. now we own a Lasko tower fan that works great just needed more in the house. I appreciate the included remote and the multiple settings it seems a little weak. while I don't have to be right up on it it feels a little weak once I'm beyond maybe 4 feet from it. meanwhile the Lasko I can feel out to maybe 6 feet. It definitely has done what we bought it for, it does feel a little on the cheap side for the price and the plastic material. I have noticed a wobble to it even when tightening the screws to the base pretty tightly. all in all it's decent enough for an emergency job and will do the job but could maybe get better for a bit more in price.

Safe and blows air

Picked mine up at the store. I was unsure at first and gave it a try and I don’t regret keeping it because it’s been keeping me cool during this hot summer. I might get a 2nd one for other rooms. It also isn’t too loud but loud enough to have white noise to sleep at night. I have it on 24/7 almost and it doesn’t get hot and is very safe and secure. It also takes up little space. Blows enough air for a room or medium sized area. It helps that it spins to cover more area. The air isn’t super strong to provide strong wind but the wind is strong enough to keep you cool if you’re a couple feet away. I’d say get a thicker fan for strong wind. But this is fine enough to cool the room a bit but it won’t cool other rooms.
