Tough project

Being physically handicapped, I had my son-in-law, a retired master carpenter, install it for me. After studying the directions, the project took about 4.5 hours including clean-up. This includes a re-do of several steps, and a bunch of cussing.

The box was totally ripped open. The top & bottom of the 5’ cardboard box was wrapped in plastic wrap and the box was cross- crossed with tape. There was a gaping hole in the center of the box. I could see some of the parts inside. I was not notified of its condition before I drove 2 hrs to pick it up. I declined acceptance.

Looks great!

I love the look of the door. The fact that it only opens on one side is a bit inconvenient. Since the door only opens on the side I enter and exit, I have to turn on the water and adjust the temperature while I’m standing half in and hope that the water’s not too hot while I reach over to adjust it. Otherwise, it’s a sturdy system and the track for the door is very smooth. I like that the door handle can be installed to the inside or outside of the door.

Beautiful Door with Effort Involved

Looks great when installed but assembly system does not allow to silicone between the rails and the walls during installation as the instructions imply. My opening was exactly 44" and had to rely solely on silicone along the inside edges only. Instructions in general are weak and at times unclear. Take the "advice" noted and cut the top and bottom rails a 1/2" short. This will allow you to "collapse" the frame enough to add the silicone (which I did not realize until later).

Not happy with this product

The product I purchased is not what I ordered, I ordered brushed nickel color and it came more antique bronze. The box was in terrible condition however because of the wait we took it anyway. My installer installed the unit while we were away and when we came home we noticed the wrong color. The handles are the right color however the frame is wrong. Lowe’s won’t discount the product and told me I can return it for a refund. I can’t be without a shower for any longer and it’s disappointing customer service.

The box was in terrible condition. I’m shocked that it wasn’t completely destroyed. Home Depot associates even commented. There were 2 parts missing. Not a shock. They were nice but not in a rush to get these to us. This is for your shower!! Just seems like they would overnight or at least try a little harder.

Very nice kit with one exception

I really like this setup. It looks very nice. My only point of contention is the installation manual for the doors. It's mainly drawings with arrows. Some things are explained sufficiently, others things, not so much. The instructions are the only reason that kept if from being 5 stars.

It showed up in such bad shape. (Freight Company?) The box looked like it had taped, re-taped, and the contents enclosed were amongst broken styrofoam no longer in form. The glass made it, so I thought perhaps the other bits might be ok, but they were scuffed, scratched, etc. Home Depot, Jose, was very accommodating and apologetic in its condition on return. I declined to re-order it.

Door broke for no apparent reason

I loved this until about 4 years ago when the actual door side self-destructed for no apparent reason. She said she bumped it with her elbow while washing her hair. Thank God it's tempered glass but my daughter(adult) was still cut up. A tempered glass door should be able to take an elbow bump for heaven's sake.

Sleek look - Pay attention to installation details

The final result is a very nice sleek look, however, I’m glad they had a YouTube video to help with the details of the installation. For example, you can’t use a regular drill bit on a porcelain tile. Or, make sure your mosaic tile does not bump out from the rest of the tiles, all surfaces must be very flat and straight.

walls are very cheap and not water proof

my contractor would not install these walls because he said they are not water tight and after 1-2 years ill have mold and will need to replace the walls again. also it says you can mount it to the studs but that is a lie. the floor seems ok.and the doors are nothing special but work for now. I'm so disappointed with this item and now have to purchase a new walls. unfortunately my contactor put in the shower pan before he realized how awful the walls where so I can not return. do not buy this just buy the pieces separately from a different company.

Love this door. I installed it myself after watching a video on the manufacturer website. It was very easy. Instructions were clear to read. I triple checked my measurements and did two dry fits with the frame before securing to the wall. I used a diamond tip bit to drill the 8 holes and that made my job easy. a stud finger is also needed to ensure there are no electrical or pipes in the area you are about to drill. Overall i am very satisfied. The door also came with there splash guards for the door and panel to prevent leaks.

Horrible Packaging for a Good Product

Liked: Works fine. My nephew installed it with no difficulties. Glass did not break. After reading reviews and directions, I was scared to touch it. But just use common sense and don't be in a hurry. Adjust well for out of plumb walls.

Delayed shipment and material contamination

After delivery missed by 2weeks causing scheduling delays, everything during install was going well ( typical to other Dreamline products I have used). Hanging the second door, it spontaneously shattered in the track. Sending glass up to 14 feet away around corners and such. Now project is delayed again. Luckily no one was hurt outside of a couple small hand cuts and dirty underwear , which is surprising considering that we were within a ft from the instance. Scary yes. Even worse is after researching , this is quite common with tempered glass in all applications. I was not aware , so I will be installing 3M safety film on all my glass panels. The product will keep the glass together if it shatters for any reason, so injury is less likely to happen. Dreamline is attempting to rush the replacement through and I will adjust this as appropriate but I’m already 2 weeks late and down 2 paid man days due to delivery

Installation instructions are highly detailed, but are incorrect on a very important step; the cut length of 3-3/8" from minimum opening doesn't account for a shower that is plumb. The resultant assembly with that cut dim was a line-to-line fit and would have scratched the tile if I inserted it, so I had to take it back apart and recut, personally I added 3/8", and worked great.

Easy installation

Never done a shower door install before. I’m a contractor and will definitely be buying from DreamLine again. Pleased with how simple the assembly was. Tons of great videos online to watch for step by step assembly. Seems solid. Only complaint would be the screws they provide for fastening the shower framing to your studs are philips bit. Easily strippable even with a pilot bit. I recommend taking the screws they give you and buying something less likely to strip (square tip or T25 or bigger) but needs to be the same size head as the screws they provide. But other than that. I’m happy.

Worked out great for my bathroom shower remodel. Very reasonably priced for the style and quality of door. Needed a specific size for my custom shower and this was the solution. Many styles for smaller showers are usually hinged. VERY fast shipping. Thank you. Make sure you read measurements and product specifications before ordering. Only one door slides the other is stationary. Also it is nice that this model gives you the option to put the sliding door on the left or right side of shower.

Really well made, quality shower door

This door kit was the finishing touch for our Sterling alcove shower ensemble. Can’t say enough good things about this purchase!

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!

Very good quality doors that look excellent when installed. I found the instructions were somewhat lacking because they rely more on pictures than words. Glass panel suction cup lifting handles will make the job much easier for installing the glass doors. The screws to attach the frame to the walls are much longer than needed (IMHO). Purchase #6 screws of the length needed for your specific install and use hot glue to stick the screw to your screw driver when you insert it into the holes in the frame. Use a screw driver (not a drill driver) to get the screw started. Also, I found that LEXEL caulk is a much better product than silicone for sealing this shower door unit. Otherwise, a very easy project for the DIY homeowner.

The instructions could use a little tweaking.

It's a nice door but the instructions aren't the best. For starters I needed to hang it right handed, the opposite of the instructions, that didn't help matters. There are 2 points that I feel are worth mentioning that'll help others, and that is on page 14, it shows the insertion of a vinyl strip. That strip is part 15 but it's not mentioned in the wording. The other and this is critical in my opinion! Page 8, the idea of bringing the glass door into the shower before mounting the frame and also installing the wheels. Do it! Once the frame is up you'll have a hard time getting the glass door through opening without tapping it on things which is scary, and mounting the wheels would be a task in a confined space.
