Good things do come in small packages!
These are great! Love the colors love the Kammok's! I have a few of them, the kids love to make bunk bed in trees. One is usually in my office for break time! I gave one to my Dad for his Costa Rican holidays. He fell in love with this and a girl he met there. But he complained it was too small. So next Christmas he got a Roo Double. Yeah lighting can strike twice pop. He said what should I do with my old ROO? I said keep it for the solo missions, or put your gear and beer in it. There's a good idea! Kammok The Cooler, my beer needs love too!
My little cocoon
I use this hammock with the portable stand, and have taken numerous naps in it. It is perfect for chilling, watching clouds in the sky listening to podcast, and stargazing. The fabric can get a bit staticky, but doesn't bother me too much. It feels breathable, so still enjoyable even on a hot sunny day. I also love the bright orange color! Brightens up my day. It can fit two people, but not as comfortable so we bought the Roo Double too.
Awesome gift for my girlfriend
A while ago now I saw a basket of hammocks at my local academy with a name I didn't recognize, Kammok. Even after feeling how small and light the hammocks were I didn't originally take one home, but I couldn't get the Kammok name out of my head. Finally I made a special trip back to academy just to pick up a new hammock and straps. I have truly enjoyed my Roo Single since the day that I bought it, so I bought another to replace my girlfriends huge Eno. We have both been extremely happy with our new hammocks!
not impressed with the durability
I bought this hammock about a year ago and have used it exclusively indoors, so it hasn't been exposed to the elements, but it's not wearing well at all. The middle/bottom area has sagged badly (I have the Swiftlet stand, which is awesome, and have it tightened up so much that the edges of the hammock are pulled taught, but the middle still hangs down lower than it used to), and the side of the hammock that I always get in and out of is more stretched out than the side that's against the wall. Also, I just noticed a threadbare patch in the middle of the hammock, and I have no idea how that happened, other than general wear and tear. I'm not particularly heavy (about 150 lbs) and I'm the only one who lays in the hammock so it's not like there's undue strain on the fabric. Hoping to get a replacement from Kammok. I don't expect it to wear any better, but if I can get another year out of a new one then at least I'll feel like I got my money's worth.
Love Kammocks!
I started out hammocking with another brand of hammock, but ended up loving this single one so much I went back and bought the double. The #1 thing I like about this hammock is that it doesn't seem to stretch too much after hanging for awhile. A couple of other hammocks I tried would stretch a lot over the period of your hang, this one does not stretch too much. The other thing I love is the fabric. It really is silky smooth. I'm going to be using the single in my office and I use the double for the yard and camping. So far, the two I have are my most favorite hammocks!
A Now Indispensable Part of My Backcountry Gear Loadout
Normally, we take a nylon camping hammock with us on our backcountry trips. This year, I opted to swap that out for a Roo single, and I am really glad that I made that choice. First of all, setting up the hammock was a breeze. Using the Python straps, set-up took less than 5 minutes (the longest part of that time was actually finding the site to hang it). The first time I sat in the hammock, I didn't know what to expect. The material is so thin that I wondered if it would hold my weight (220lbs) - but the Roo's durability eased my mind, and after that initial hesitation, I had no issues getting in and out of it without feeling weird. The only thing that I felt was comfortable. I love the fact hat my back didn't get eaten alive (like it does when I am lying in my mesh hammock). And durable? Yes! We had a crazy thunderstorm with huge wind gusts and a downpour - but the Kammock held it's ground (though, once I noticed it was acting like a sail, I undid one end and tucked it into the attached pouch. Overall, this is a fantastic product, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one - or to even kit this one out to become a shelter!
