Support slats are not solid wood, the bed broke!

It's been a month. Came in two packages on one pallet and was very heavy, seemed like it was very well made and looked like it was all solid wood. Until today. I'm 150 lbs and sat down on the edge of the bed, then heard a pop and crack. The support slat broke! On further observation I can see why it broke, the slats are not full solid wood pieces but composite pieces glued together. See pictures. Thankfully I bought a warranty with this bed but I was not expecting to activate it so soon. Further, I bought a queen and I also notice the gap other reviews mentioned. My mattress is a standard queen size and I've got gaps on all sides. I've filled the top header gap with a body pillow.

Gorgeous + Solid

Takes much longer than the estimated assembly time but is SO worth it - incredibly sturdy and beautiful piece of furniture. King sized seems to be more suited for a California King - there's about a five inch gap at the end of ours that we've chosen to fill in with a body pillow. No creaks or movement after construction even after five months of nightly use by two tall adults and a coonhound!

Solid bed. This bed was super easy to put together. It is beautiful. The color was more of a soft oak, but blends together well in a room with other color as of wood. It is super solid and gives the room the mid-century feel we were hoping for.
