Reviews
This sink is super spacious. We love the drying rack included over one side of the sink. We also like the cutting board that fits. The grates that are on the bottom of the sink are super helpful to not scratch the sink. We purchased the collander, although it's so big that we don't often use it. We live in a humid climate, and the sink gets very mildewy fast. I have to do a deep cleaning of it (with Barkeepers Friend, soft cloths, and a toothbrush for the grates) at least once a month. Black mildew or mold grows along the sides and bottom. I'm not sure why!
Perfect working sink!
Amazing sink! We have enjoyed a smaller version of this same sink for a few years now in our primary home and are adding the larger version to our second home. The sink is in our island so the depth and 36" length makes it wonderful for cleaning up big pots and pans and quickly hiding dirty dishes from the island top!
Workstation is the only way to go!
I have installed so many workstation sinks in client houses. It is my go to sink. The versatility with the accessories, drying racks, etc. make this amazing. Also, the gently sloped bottom allows for proper drainage but allows wine glasses to stand up straight. Huge sink, even if you downsize to maximize counter space, this is huge!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE these workstations
I'll never go back to a double bowl sink
I have been using this sink for a year. I got the 27" because it was the largest size that my cabinet could accommodate. The offset drain allowed just enough space under the left side of the sink for a double bin pullout since the cabinet has full height doors. I love the single bowl and the extra depth. It holds my largest baking sheets and the split grates from my stove laying flat for easy cleaning. I don't use the accessories as much as I thought I would but they are still nice to have. I remove the bottom grate and give the sink a good scrub at least once a week. Otherwise the sink bottom corners tend to get grimy. I spray down the sides of the sink after use to keep it clean between deep cleans. I use Barkeeper's Friend for general cleaning. Also, make sure your countertop fabricator cuts the opening large enough for the accessories. Mine did not and had to come back to regrind and polish the opening so the cutting board and drain mat would fit.
Stylish functional could use a few modifications
I'm left handed and keep the cutting board on the right and the drain board on the left. It's a tight slot if both boards maintained on the sink at all times. Usually drop the cutting board to the side. Small space so no real place to store the cutting board. Like the concept but if for a small sink there isn't a lot of room. The pitch for draining isn't the best and stuff will accumulate at the end and lifting the entire mesh floor out to clean is a p.i.t.a however I do like that there is a buffer between the sink and dishes. Would have been better if the mesh floor would be in two pieces. Style wise I love it and if I had to buy again it would be bigger.
GREAT sink. Super functional.
Great sink. I love the mat for drying. I don't often use the cutting board inside the sink itself, but it's nice when I do. This is a FLAT bottom sink. I see a lot of complaints about it not draining well, and I had that situation as well. However, it is *VERY* sensitive to installation. I had to have my installer re-install because they didn't level it out very well. A second problem you can run into, is when they install a garbage disposal or the drain piping, they might accidentally put a little upward pressure on the sink as they tight down the tailpipe. This can also cause a flat bottom sink to not drain well. Make sure that the tailpipe is not putting upward pressure on your drain. Also, it will scratch. All of them do. With time, the scratches just all blend together and you don't notice. First time I used it though, I was a little like "What the heck?" a few months later, not really noticable. Happy dishwashing!
very functional and beautiful
Description accurate Great quality Love my sink If I could change one thing it would be it could drain better, it's not as sloped as it could/should be and takes taking out the sink protector, emptying it all out, coaxing it with faucet sprayer and hands sometimes to properly drain. I knew this could be an issue with workstation sinks so I was prepared. Also my quartz fabricator had to make adjustments to my slab when installing this sink as it was not true to the template it came with and made the chopping board insert not fit. I have seen other reviews about this as well but after the fact. We worked it out in the end, he just shaved off a bit from the wood block itself and it fit, but it definitely was an issue. Other than that, I do not regret this purchase, and would recommend it to anyone and won't ever use another type of sink again.
Large, pretty and handy but ...
Pros: This sink is huge. I mean it could hold the biggest turkey or pot of chili you could come up with and for that - yaaaassss. Also, solidly made because there is no hollow noise when I put pots, bowls, dishes, etc. in the sink. I have a goose neck pulldown and it is absolutely perfect. Everyone asks me about it. It is a very impressive addition to my kitchen - it is especially "extra" when the cutting board and drying rest are on top. It makes chopping veggies oh so easy and clean up is a breeze. I love that I can dry a few hand washed dishes on the roll out drying rest and not have the countertop cluttered. Cons: This is my first ever square cornered sink. NOT a fan. I feel like it is a real hassle to get all the grime and gook out out of the corners. The finish is pretty and shiny unless you don't use the metal floor drainer insert thing. If you use the drainer insert, it gets grimy and gook forms on the underside. It is so big that it is a real hassle to clean. So overall I would say that I would not buy it again just based on the fact that I like an easy to clean sink BUT if I had a housekeeper to assign the task to - I might because it is quite lovely and impressive.
This is the best thing about our kitchen! I looked everywhere for a stainless steel sink that was big like this one and two huge bonuses are the cutting board that fits into the groove of the sink, it slides left to right and it so convenient when your prepping because you can swipe cuttings right into the sink and into a disposal if you have one, and the silicone drying rack is so great that we got rid of our free standing drying rack. We simply put our dishes and glasses on the rack and any water drips back into the sink. So EFFICIENT! One word of caution, we purchased for a remodel and our countertop fabricator didn't take into account the lip at the top and bottom of the sink that is used to hold the cutting board and tray. They had to make adjustments on site so that they would fit properly. If you buy this sink and plan to have someone install countertops along with it make sure they know the specs of the sink and how to install because it's different from many standard sinks.
Second purchase - recommended to everyone
This is my second Kraus sink and I say second because the first one was installed at my old house. I loved it so much after 6 months of use that I had to have it again in my new home. The metal is 16 gauge so it doesn't damage easily (banged a few pots around and the sink was fine). I used barkeepers best friend to clean it (non abrasive side of a sponge) and it gleamed. At first I didn't understand the reason for the drain cap but then realized that it was nice not to see the little tid bits of food or trash that sit in the drain. My ONLY complaint is that you have to wash the grid every so often and the dishwashing rack can get a little funky (i threw mine in the dishwasher when I wasn't air drying stuff). For the grid, I recommend barkeepers and let it sit for a few minutes and sponge it down to get the grim off. Most likely, the grid will be too big to fit in your dishwasher. Also, unboxing is top notch and is almost like taking an iPhone out of the box. Everything is nicely wrapped and protected.
Best undermount sink available. High quality with nice features. On the 27-inch model, we liked that the drain is located in the corner so that everything can be rinsed in one direction toward the strainer. Sinks with drains in the center tend not to catch everything when rinsing. We also liked that it came with the drain kit and a drain cover. Many features are similar to other sink manufacturers - thick gauge stainless steel with sound damping, deep undermounted design - but main reason we purchased this is the "ledge" that is used to support all of the workstation accessories. The included accessories are great, and hopefully other accessories will become available in the future, or we'll find accessories that fit. Time will tell if the ledge becomes cumbersome to clean.
