Wall Sleeve Worked Well, Just Different

I read reviews about this sleeve so I had some Ideas of its pitfalls. 1. The sleeve does not cover the entire AC unit, the AC unit is about 5” deeper than the sleeve and sticks out into the room. There is a plastic cover that attached to the unit that covers the hole opening. 2. The foam that provides the barrier between the indoor and outdoor space inside the sleeve is hard to to deal with. I had trouble with the foam pulling away from the sleeve at the corners. A squirt of Great Stuff took care of the gaps. When the unit was installed, fitting it thru the foam was a bit tricky. My helper stood on the outside of the sleeve to see the foam seal and directed me where to push the unit. It went through surprisingly easy.

The grill for the outside of the case was not properly screwed on. The grill was of inferior material, and the little fingers were bent where the screws go in and hold it in the case. Otherwise, once we got the wall supported sufficiently so it would not become unsquare. It worked very good.

This product is fine and worked great, I had a contractor install it and will have A/C in my master bedroom next year.

Do not buy LG through the wall air conditioner. The unit did not function. LG won’t service the air conditioner with the income warranty because the unit is not accessible. They want the unit removed from the wall before they will service it. Really, a brand new unit that does not work and I have to spend hundreds of dollars to have the unit removed and put back again and maybe it will just break again. Don’t buy this sleeve or the LG ac that goes in it!

Not as sturdy as the old wall case that we removed with the old a/c, but sturdy enough. Do not try to use your old wall case since it is unlikely that a new a/c unit will fit into it smoothly. Also, it should be noted that the wall case comes with a back grill, but that this grill is rather thin, so we added a separately purchased, more sturdy grill which we successfully screwed into the wall case on the inside (it wouldn't attach on the outside).

We bought this because the LG air conditioner we bought didn't fit into our previous sleeve. This one worked fine, although it was significantly larger than our air conditioner and required us stuffing a bunch of extra foam around it to avoid gaps. There also were almost no instructions on how to install it, and the ones it came with said to make the hole in your wall significantly larger than the box.

How is this possible.

Sleeve doesn't have a stop edge for flush mount to the sheet rock????? When the AC unit is installed into the sleeve, the AC is sticking out about an inch and a half from the already protruding wall sleeve. Why doesn't the sleeve come with a standard metal mesh screen. Terrible design and I still have two more units to install.

This was the sleeve that was presented with the air conditioner that I purchased. After trying to install it we found that it is not correct. We are using it nonetheless and it does not look like it should....not removing it at this point and we are accepting that fact. We are not installing the sleeve again.

The unit is fine but there are essentially no instructions. Beyond that there are only a few holes to screw the unit to the frame. One of them is so close to the edge that you can't allow the unit to be min 1" inside the room and use that hole to catch the frame to secure the unit.

No sleeve

I bought this ac but didn’t have anyone available to install it, not with Covid , unavailability of installer etc . I finally got someone to install it yesterday and since I have bought lg ac products before I thought the sleeve was included, it was not . So it us unavailable at neatest Home Depot and out of stock online , and if it was available you would have to pay over 100$ For it. I already sievt 600$ fir the Ava and to not have the sleeve, wth? I think this is unjust and unseemong on part of Home Depot . I face it one star on all areas but I have not used it so I do not know how it performs , as to other questions I stand with poor rating

I purchased this sleeve with the LG1237 A/C heat unit to replace an old unit, so the hole was already in wall. The sleeve was solid enough. The instructions are very minimal, leaves you to guess a lot. The LG unit is a VERY tight fit into this sleeve. And the unit sticks out about 5 inches from the wall. And that's with the unit pushed all the way back to the grill. When the compressor runs, the unit/sleeve causes a rattle. But the sleeve didn't seem flimsy to me.

On Line Sales Site For The Air Conditioner Did NOT Mention The Need For This Sleeve To Install The Unit. Bummer. Had To Spend More Dough And Wait An Extra Week To Finish Job. Not deep enough

Very disappointed. A/C unit protrudes about 5 inches proud of the wall. Looks stupid. Bought this because it was recommended for the LG 8000 btu through the wall a/c unit we bought at the same time. The sleeve fit perfectly except its not deep enough. The unit is in the sleeve as far as it can go without pushing out the screen on the back of it and it sits too proud from the wall. The a/c unit has a plastic trim frame that goes around the face of it to give it a clean look which would be great if the unit sat deep enough in the sleeve. The cord of the unit is about 3 inches proud of the wall. Really bad looking. Wish I knew this before installing. First time Ive ever bought a through the wall a/c unit so had no idea someone would make a sleeve that didnt fit the unit properly. Looks really bad in my newly remodeled room. Buyer beware.

Perfect fit for my LG 11,800 BTU Wall AC

Trickiest part is to understand the foam placement, as well as adapting the size of the hole in the wall where sleeve will be installed. For me it was a project that took all day BUT, there is a nice 1/4 inch gap around unit within the sleeve, and the foam did a good job of sealing gap in the segments required. This will make removing the unit a lot easier when the time comes for replacement. Also, care has to be put when installing unit so that sleeve is perfectly leveled.

Poor Design Concept- Do Not Buy

The sleeve has foam pieces to be adhered to the inside wall. They were apparently for cushioning. When you slide in the air conditioner the foam pieces get scraped off the side wall of the sleeve. Without the foam pieces there’s a significant gap around the air conditioner. Since the air conditioner is heavy, there’s no delicate way to slide it into the sleeve. You would be better off without the sleeve and building a frame around the air conditioner to secure it. Hopefully I can get my $100 refunded.

NOT DEEP ENOUGH--BAD FIT

The sleeve is not deep enough for the LG A/C model #LT1016CER. There's a piece of plastic that protrudes in the back of the unit that doesn't allow you to push the unit far enough. This is the sleeve that was recommended for this unit. When you install the A/C unit into the sleeve, it pushes the included foam inserts out of place. The framing measurements are also off so do your own measuring. Also, way overpriced!!!

Not even close to the right size, and garbage

If this sleeve were 2 inches more narrow and 1 in shorter and 4 inches deeper, it would still be a cheap piece of junk, but at least it would fit the LG AC unit that it supposed to. Fortunately, my walls are 8 instead of 6 by material, otherwise it would be hanging on by a lone inch.5. The grate is also super cheap and barely stays in. After screwing around trying to make it work, I wished I would have just built one myself. Probably would have taken half the time and cost half as much.

The Wall Case is very good, but the instructions leave questions in your mind that LG Customer Support is not knowledgeable enough to answer. One important fact to know, that is not explained in the installation instructions, is that the metal screen on the back of the Wall Case is made of stainless steel. It just looks like unpainted raw ferrous metal that might rust. Also, if you are installing a used air conditioner in the sleeve, you will not have the installation kit that comes with a new AC and it is impossible to buy one from LG. Nor will they send you one for free. The kit contains things like the ramps that tilt the AC at the proper angle to drain water out the back, and the insulation strips that go between the AC and the sleeve (Wall Case). Most of these things can be crafted from other products sold at Home Depot.
