Love it! Except for the handle.

I love this little DO! It’s the perfect size for serving 1-3 people. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the handle. Unlike my other DO’s, there’s some assembly required, and when you lift the oven by the handle, it tips the pot instead of gliding smoothly into place. Not safe at all with a hot pot full of food.

Great piece of gear.

Awesome piece of equipment. The seasoning that it came with is excellent. I already used it with coals from a fire in our fire pit to make the “Lazy Peach Cobbler” in the recipe booklet. It was excellent.

Cast Iron Is The Best

I have had Lodge Dutch Ovens for years. They are well made and I enjoy cooking with Lodge cast iron. I now have 3 Lodge Dutch ovens in addition to my frying pans, Sportsman grill. And cornbread mold. Great products.

It has legs!!!!

I'm so annoyed that this has legs. It was a Christmas gift for stove top cooking of course you can take it camping you can take any cast-iron pot camping nothing in the description indicates it has legs and does not sit flat. I did locate a small 1 inch picture in one corner of the box that shows it with legs, however, on the other six sides of the box, the picture is only of the pot and the lid.

Gravy anybody?

I got this cute Lodge 2 quart camp Dutch oven just before Christmas. Used it to make turkey gravy. It’s the best gravy making pot ever! And the legs work well on a gas range stovetop or oven grate, so this Dutch oven will see a lot of use.

Campfire cooking like a pro

Dutch oven worked great for our 6 yo grandson, learning to cook with supervision over a campfire. The Dutch oven is very heavy and stable on the fire stand offered. My husband was so impressed with the setup we bought for the grandson’s family, that I ordered a second set for us!

Bale handle comes unattached

I bought this for my wife to give me for Christmas. The bale handle was not attached. The instructions weren't right. I found a video of an unboxing and watched it. He got frustrated and ended up going to water pump pliers to make it work. They did't show him doing it. I fought with it and fought with it. I got it on, but it's not REALLY right. Not putting the bale on at the forge saved no space in the package. I suspect they got a bunch of misshaped bales and decided it should be the customer's problem. My last dutch oven was Chinese but I'd prefer to pay more to buy American. If the 14" deep oven on my wish list comes with a detached handle, I might just choose to back to the Chinese ovens. LODGE: PUT YOUR PRODUCT TOGETHER, BEFORE YOU SELL IT!.

Not from You Know Where.

Heavy casting made in the USA. Tennessee. Cant get any better for the money. No lead. Unlike some imported products from the place that we shall not name. You can get lighter castings that are vintage, and beautifully made, but for the money, youll never go wrong with Lodge Cast Iron Cookware. Now the enameled cast iron is made in the USA too!

A Great Size to Work With

I made a mountain man breakfast this particular day for some of my family. The meal was very good indeed and devoured quickly. The only drawback was, and had nothing to with the oven, as it is already murderously hot here as summer showed up early and could not wait for the dish to finish. As it cools down to more bearable temperatures I will be using more of my cast iron frequently. I have always had excellent results with all.

Great product, forged in the USA.

Nothing to dislike. This is a welcome addition to my outdoor campfire kitchen. I already bought the 12” Lodge Dutch oven (deep) on a visit to the Lodge factory. I added an 8” Dutch oven to cook bread, plus a standard 10” one. This 10” model (deep) is needed for cooking casseroles with coals. It’s a Lodge, made in South Pittsburgh, TN. USA all the way! These beauties really elevate the outdoor cooking experience. I also have the Lodge Dutch oven cook table. Very handy piece of kit.

Lodge Cast iron is the best !

Recieved this camp dutch oven a few weeks ago. The box that it came was extremely stout. I was immediately impressed at first glance of this beautiful dutch oven. It is very well made & looks like it can hold up to the strongest of cooking tasks. I have not been able to use it yet due to the bad weather we are still having in Southern Idaho. I will be breaking it out once the weather gets better. You cant beat Lodge quality !

I like it but it's not for everyone

This a beautiful Dutch oven but I can see reasons why some people wouldn't like it. It's HEAVY compared with stainless steel pots the same size. If you don't like heavy pots you'll hate this one. This pot has legs because it's meant to use over a camp fire. The legs will not stand on an oven rack. Don't even try. It will just tip over and make a mess in the bottom of your oven. It won't work over a stove eye either. The legs hold it too far above the heat. The box says pre-seasoned but everyone that is familiar with brand new cast iron knows it needs additional seasoning before use. I sand mine down to the metal and start from scratch and put on 6 coats, baking each coat for an hour. It's a lot of work but worth it. I can't wait to use this Dutch oven. It's great for it's intended use but nothing else. Just be sure it's what you want before you buy one.

I will buy this item again.

This 6 quart cast iron dutch oven pot is the bomb. I bought it to cook over an open fire at my camp site. I have cooked chili, beans, and fried chicken, soup and other things. It holds a lot of food and my friends all love the way it cooks, especially the fried chicken. It browns the crust to a "T" and is tender and juicy. the main thing I like is that it cooks fast so my guests don't have to wait to eat. I am going to buy some trivets to be able to cook on the ground and just put hot coals on the lid and around the ground so I can cook biscuits and cornbread. I love this thing.

I like it!

I really like this small dutch oven. It's just right for one or two people. Hey, it's made in the USA. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of a 5 is that it's rough inside. I purchased some 80 grit discs for my orbital sander and it took me about a half hour to remedy that. Once seasoned it's good to go. I would definitely buy again and highly recommend to others looking for a pot this size. A bonus is that the lid for this 2 quart pot fits the 2 quart Lodge camp oven I have which has no legs. It allows me to cook on a camp stove and still use briquettes on the top for browning. Great dutch oven and can't beat the price.

Loge Cast Iron is Awesome!

I own several Lodge cast iron skillets of varying sizes that I cook with almost daily at home.l I LOVE my Lodge dutch oven without legs for cooking in the oven and often cook pot roasts in it low and slow heat. Perfect every time! So I thought that I'd try cooking outdoors with the briquettes with the Lodge Camp Dutch Oven with legs. It comes with an instruction booklet that I highly recommend you read through before using the oven. There's a handy chart in there that tells you precisely how many briquettes you need for your size oven to get a certain temp. My first meal using this camp oven was pork chops and potatoes with mushroom sauce. Easy and delicious! Lodge cookware is made in the USA, durable and practical. I highly recommend!

After all of the hype and good reviews for the camp dutch ovens, I was really disappointed with the quality of the 2 dutch ovens I received today, 11/12/19. I got them for a lower price when I saw it fall. No wonder. The rim of one pot is irregularly shaped, so that when you press the edge of the lid on one side, the lid pushes down and you can hear it close on that side. Then if you push down on edge of the lod of the opposite side, the other side pushes down. You can actually slide the lid around a bit once its one.

The Little Black Pot That Does It All

I love my new Lodge Camp Oven. I knew I would because it's the fourth one I own. This one is the 8 inch two quart version. I also have a ten inch, a regular depth 12 inch and a deep 12 inch camp oven. I love to cook in them. I always told my kids when they were growing up that you could cook anything in a Dutch Oven and it's really true! Now that the kids are grown up and gone I decided to buy this smaller camp oven for the times I don't need a larger one to prepare food for more people. So far I've only cooked some pork ribs in the newest one, but when warmer weather gets here I'm planning to give that little black pot a good workout. It's well made with a properly fitting lid and heats evenly making cooking a breeze. All my Lodge Camp Ovens are top quality and have served me well over the years. I'm looking forward to many years of service from this newest addition to the group. Someday when I'm gone the kids will get them and they too can enjoy a lifetime of camp oven cooking. With proper care, they will last for generations.

I went camping this last week to enjoy the Meteor shower away from the city lights and I needed up with 8 teenage kids (3 boys & 5 girls) Two of the girls are mine, the rest were their best friends, 1 boy was my son, and 1 was oldest daughter's boyfriend and the other was one daughter's friends little brother, whom is still a teenage, at 14 years old.

One heck of a pot for a lifetime of use!

Wow, this is one hefty beauty to cook your a whole chicken and other meats. I got this deep DO rather than the classic 6 quart (shallow) one so I can cook taller cuts of meat without having to trim them down. For a long time, I hesitated in buying this style of camp DO since I was worried about the legs tangling in my stovetop grate but that was a needless worry. I just remove the grate and put the dutch oven directly on the flat drip tray. In this configuration, the DO sits about 1/8" above my grates so no worries about not getting enough heat from the gas flames. For oven baking, I just put a 12" feed pan (or a cookie sheet) under the DO to provide a flat surface for the legs. I also take off the top rack to give me more room for maneuvering.
