Been eyeing this after the ATK review. It’s truly non stick after seasoning. I use it daily as my primary skillet, and it’s been amazing

Matfer Bourgeat Black Carbon Steel Fry Pan 10"

Like all Matfer pans, this one was a little hard to get started with because of the protective coating which needs to be scrubbed off. A few minutes with some hot soapy water and a steel wool scouring pad made short enough work of that and the pan was prepped for seasoning.

Very nice skillet!

Very well made, with good balance. Seasoning according to directions not too difficult, and I took my time doing it. I've used it several times and very little sticking. I have all types of cookware but this is my first CS, so learning to cook with it. I expect it will get better and last forever.

Brilliant pan and super easy to season. Cleaning is a breeze as well and once understanding proper way to use it's easy peasy

this is a legit pro pan. Seasoned well and the angle is perfect for flipping items without need for stirring. It is not light however, nearly as heavy as a cast iron

New favorite. Got rid of non-stick for good with this. It took a few attempts at seasoning so be patient at first. Can even cook eggs on it now. Sear on meat is beautiful with handling high temps.

The pan was exactly what I expected given it was a Matfer. However during the ordering process I had made a mistake. Both customer representatives I spoke with were professional pleasant and helpful. My order was fixed quickly and without any fuss. This was my first time ordering from Bakedeco and they have earned my trust and loyalty.

great pan for almost everything!

this will be your to go pan for pretty much everything, in fact I can't think of anything that you cannot do with this pan. this is far more practical to use than cast iron but gives you the same result. take care to season it right in the beginning and it will be a faithful tool in your kitchen for life.

First time buying this carbon steel pan.Seller did inform prior to packaging that totake note that all the black steel pan materials are tends to rust when kept in a damp environment. The rusting phenomenon is normal and is not a sign of a faulty item or manufacturing issue. Any rusted occur, it still able to removed by seasoning process.I was still willing to accept the pan in condition stated by seller:Egg separator was a FREE GIFT with purchase.

Best pan ever. No sticking at all and steak searing is perfect. Just avoid acidic foods to avoid have to re-season your pan

heavy and awkward design, poor seasoning ability

This pan is VERY heavy - comparable to a cast iron pan. Handle is narrow, sharp edged, and at an awkward angle. After following the manufacturer directions to season the pan 3 times the center is still not at all seasoned. Very disappointed as this was recommended by America's Test Kitchen. Would return if it were possible. Don't buy.

Sure I will love this pan

This is difficult to review yet. I am not in the U.S. until the 4th of May, so that is when I will actually be able to try out the pan. I also think I will have a learning curve from what I have read. I have used cast iron for years so I know I need to build up seasoning for it to be non stick. I hope I learn quickly as I want to get rid of anything non stick that I own and replace with this. I can update after I have physically used the pan and seasoned it.

Poor quality warped when I looked at the pan and checked it with a straight edge. The reviews on YouTube stated that the pan was made with a domed center for use on electric stoves and induction stoves but with warp it would just spin on my stove like a top.

I've repeatedly tried to season this pan to make it non stick but cannot get it to work. I followed the directions that came with it. Food is still sticking to it. Very frustrating.

Wasn't 100% sure what the potato peel/oil/salt combination would do for the initial seasoning of the pan but it was simple and very efficient. 10/10 and would highly recommend.

This is close to cast iron in terms of weight, so be aware. Overall, seems nice though.

Delivery was on schedule which was great. However, the pan itself had a scratch running across the face of the pan which was a little disappointing. I don't believe it will mar the performance of the pan, so will season it and see what happens.

I love this pen. When properly seasoned it will rival any cast-iron frying pan. It’s much lighter which is also a great advantage. The smooth bottom means it will not scratch the glass on your cooktop. Works with induction cooktops.  5*
