We purchased this Americana charcoal grill last summer at our local Walmart. I'm thinking it was under $50. This grill was very easy to put together and set up. It came with everything you need and the instructions. It's a great charcoal grill, your food cooks fast. It's pretty deep and fits a lot of charcoal. You can fit a lot of food on this grill at one time. We absolutely love the flavor charcoal gives our grilled food. Especially burgers and hot dogs. We also like to do chicken and pork chops. If you love charcoal flavored food and don't want to spend a lot of money on a portable grill, then you should get this grill. It's very lightweight and easy to maneuver and haul on the back of your truck. This way you can take it with you camping.

Good choice

We have used this manufacturer / style grill for longer than I can recall, on our 3rd one. Excellent design for charcoal grilling. Right-priced for its quality/performance. the adjustable grate and even heat distribution are huge plus. Perfect for the weekend-warrior grilling aficionado.

It's a kit, not a grill. Hard to assemble.

I had a Meco grill of the same design years ago that I liked a lot. The description of this should describe it as a kit. It is shipped with no two parts joined together. I do auto mechanics and am pretty handy, but it took me 2 full hours to assemble this. For that reason alone I don't recommend this item except as a gift for someone who you don't like.

There were NO holes at the bottom of the grill on the legs. So unfortunately the wheels was not able to go on.

Wrong amount of screws

It came with the incorrect amount of screws. The manual states one ten of one kind of screw further into the instructions it the amount needed is eighteen. Either Ill have to wait until Monday to call the company or head to the hardware store to get the screws if I want to use this thing this weekend.

I had one of these grills 40 years ago. The best thing about it is the ability to lower the cooking grate to about 1 inch above the charcoal. It’s great for putting a good sear on a steak.

I know Meco got sold. This new grille doesn’t hold the light to my old swinger which I used for 10+ years. Fire grate sucks and the grill doesn’t get hot, which I can’t explain. Poor assembly instructions. I have used swingers my whole adult life but I cannot recommend this grille.

Will I ever get to grill?

The grill was damaged when I received it and the bottom piece would not come out of the top piece. I called the manufacturer and they sent a replacement, but the bottom is different and wont work with the other pieces, so Im still without a grill.I had looked for weeks for this grill, finally found it and have had these results

Packaging Matters.

The ad for the grill implies it has fold-out shelves, it doesn't. The grill came rattling around inside the box. The bottom of the grill is jammed into the top in such a manner that they are inseparable. There is no way to get the two halves apart without causing excessive damage to both pieces. Extremely Disappointed.

Been Looking for Adjustable Grill

My son put it together. It was tricky. Hope it works well. The 2 stars is because there were NO HOLES for the wheels. He had to drill them which was tricky.

Buy the walk about instead

Incorrect amount of the wrong screws sent first of all. The adjustment handles did not work correctly after having to assemble it myself. Do yourself a favor... Save money and time and buy the portable fully assembled Aussie walk about version instead. I've had at least 4 or 5 of them over 20 plus years and thought I'd try this one instead. Bad mistake.

Nice functional design as always. Had one years ago and materials are still good quality. Foam liner between body pieces made it easy to separate for assembly. All parts were in the package but there were too many holes which looked alike in the bottom, making it hard to determine front from back. 3/8” socket wrench not optional for nylon threaded lock nuts. One screw continues to fall out of bottom and will need something more than a regular flat lock nut to keep it on.
