Great portable AC unit for small rooms.

Works very well. Cools the 450 sq. ft. room with ease and it's a quiet unit too.

WHY IS THERE NO ZERO STARS

I originally purchased in early July. As of August 8th, I just got home with my THIRD unit, because the other two both broke. After turning the first one on for the first time in mid-July, it immediately broke the first time I powered it on and received error codes not published in the owners manual (EC 03). The interior fan blades snapped, no cool air was blowing through. I thought it was a fluke, just a lemon. Filed a claim, returned it and replace with a brand new one. The second unit worked fine at first, but now after less than 3 weeks of using this, it lost connectivity and shows the error code (also unpublished in the owners manual) EC 06. Customer service has been horrendous and unhelpful, not even the smallest breeze comes out of the unit and I have to AGAIN, lug this bulky piece of equipment downstairs, into the car, and back to where I got it, per Midea's solution. The only reason I'm replacing it for the third. time is out of convenience, it is somehow the only portable AC unit left in stock on the hottest day of the year (weird, right?), and will immediately return it once the summer is over. DO NOT WASTE TIME OR MONEY ON THIS

So easy to set up and use.

LIFESAVER litterally. My AC was out from July 2 through July 20. This unit kept my bedroom cool the whole time.

Read the installation instructions thoroughly.

The instructions could be a little more clear. Once installed it worked great! Cooled a 400 sq ft space down in about 20 minutes.

Rocky start so time will tell

I live on the Gulf Coast near Houston so bought his AC and a 6500 Watt Generac portable generator for Hurricane season and our frequent power outages. During Hurricane Beryl the AC would trip the GFCI on the generator every time the AC was powered up with nothing else connected. Neither Generac nor Midea's customer service wasn't much help in diagnosing the cause and couldn't really . After the storm passed I ran out an bought a 8K BTU Toshiba portable AC and never encountered an issue for the next four days while we were without power. Did lots of online research and talked to others and finally came up with a work around that seems to be working. The smaller Toshiba was much louder and required much more frequent attention to the water it drained while running on another generator as compared to the Midea's output a. Will test again before the next storm to ensure that the combo will work when I really need it.

This is a life saver with no AC!

Very easy to set up. Cooled the living room pretty quickly. When our ac blew up in a storm, this was a life save to have as it got to 82 and humid so fast in the house! We bought it for hurricane season so as would have of we lost power for days but came thru before that! Love it!

Cools quietly, window pieces need reinforcements

Love how well it cools. It's quiet and comfortable. The window pieces are somewhat flimsy and likely will need creative reinforcement.

Leaks

I have had this product a little over 2 years, and use it for only a couple weeks each summer. It has started leaking out of the bottom; I empty the drain container before each use, but that hasn't solved the problem. The only thing I received from Midea customer service is a note that the warranty has expired and to drain the container. I gave it 2 stars because it worked fine for the 8 weeks that I actually used it ...

Compressor failed. No repair available.

As others have said, it has a high pitch noise when cooling and rumbles my apartment when turning the compressor on. Otherwise it was pretty impressive performance... For one season. By the start of my second summer with it the compressor failed completely. This leaves fan mode as the only option left.

I would give someone money to take this off my hands

It sits on your floor where to drag a hose to your window. The problem begins when your try to clip it into the window inserts and realize these plastic clips barely hold without precision placement. Then, once set, the whole window insert falls into the room because the only thing holding it in the window is another little piece that doesn't even clip. It simply wedges on to the window insert before being pulled off by the weight of the hose pulling the window insert.

Excellent.

Easy set-up, works well. Easy clean filter. Actually don’t understand the negative reviews. Perhaps they had another model. Quickly cools the room. Don’t find the sound intrusive. Like the feature options.

Happy that I purchased it

Cools really well. A little cumbersome to install in the window, but much better than the other portable air conditioners in the office.

As advertised

I bought this as it is currently consumer reports best rated portable. Assembly was easy and took less than 15 minutes after it was taken out of the box. It is heavy at approx 70lbs

Single room air conditioner

I bought this unit to provide backup ac when the power is out. I ran it for 8 hours on a 3500 watt generator. Worked great. Cooled a large room and reduced humidity significantly. The instructions are poorly written but once I figured it out I was pleased with the results.
