Glad we decided to get this

Due to my HOA absurdly banning my removable window A/C unit as a "structural modification" to our condo, I had been researching these portable units for a year or two, but had been skittish due to mixed reviews. Well, the misery-inducers at the HOA came after the low-hanging fruit again, so this year, I was forced to make the change. Well, wow, is all I can say - I am VERY happy that I did! This Midea Duo is awesome. Cools fast, stays cool, great features (the phone app being huge), and is of a low enough profile that the joy-killers can't see it. There was some jerry-rigging of foam (plus a little extra needed) to seal up cracks, and yeah, it takes up a bit of space indoors, but who cares? It's just where we sleep and shower, and it is (rapidly) 66 degrees in there whenever we want (90 plus outside).

Stopped working after 5 months. Tried to return it, Sam's wants me to ship it? I can't even fit this thing in my car. Contacted Midea customer service, they asked a whole bunch of idiotic questions and then told me i MIGHT get a check in the mail in 3 weeks IF they decide to refund me.

Will definitely help lower cooling cost some.

It's a larger machine than some of the other portable AC units I've seen and used but it does the job nicely. Many programmable features like timer, temperature, fan speed and oscillation and different modes such as cool, dehumidify and more. It works so well that we haven't had to use our central AC much even with outside temps in the mid to upper 90's. So it's worth a try. Only downside is it's a heavy and bulky model so hopefully, it won't have to be picked up or moved much. But still worth trying it.

Works better than expected. Used for temporary home cooling while awaiting repairs. Will keep on standby for emergencies or to cool garage.

let down by the window bracket.

Does a good job cooling. The downfall as others have mentioned is that the window assembly for the exhaust is truly a piece of junk. I had to use gorilla tape to keep it in place. The instructions are also awful. Not sure I could recommend buying it just based on how big of a pain it was getting the window assembly done.

rating would be 3 and a half if had the option.

product works great. cools the south side of our house quite well. it is quiet most of the time. the installation instructions were not good at all.

I love this AC especially the low starting amps. It gently ramps up the compressor and doesn’t overwhelm my small portable generator.

New or used?

Ordered as new but received used at least I guess so. The box was completely missing the bottom looking like it had been cut off. The unit was actually taped with a lot of clear tape into the box. Looking inside the box I saw no packing materials and saw dirt all over the unit. I didn't bother to take the unit out of the box. Who knows how long it had been used and what kind of dirt and whatever else there is present. I don't think any bits and pieces were there. I ordered new and expected new. I had to return and buy elsewhere because this was no longer available.

Great Unit!

Love this unit! Works very well and is reliable. In "Auto" mode, it will switch back and forth from A/C to "fan only" as needed automatically.

Extremely cold and very quiet

The best portable AC I have bought. This can keep my large master bedroom at 64 degrees on a 100 degree day. The portable AC unit before this one would stay around 70 degrees on a similarly hot day. And ontop of that, its even quieter than the old one!

The unit works great....powerful & quiet....produces COOL air....installation issues: hose is very "stiff"....difficult to work with, the "opening" for the hose in the window sliders should be in the center....why to the left of that piece....pre-fit window sliders first to window, snap hose to window sliders....be very CAREFUL....plastics parts will break....set in window opening....adjust the very stiff hose for the best bend....height....move unit for proper distance to wall....center unit to the "vent" opening in the window sliders....try to keep hose straight....the HOSE is very heavy and stiff....any movement will effect "clips" to snap out or move the "window sliders"....to help seal the "air gaps" around the hose fittings/opening of the window sliders....I wrapped an "thin bath towel" around it....the large outside opening to the hose fit between glass window and window screen....Midea needs to install an outside screen to this LARGE opening in the hose....birds nesting, animals entering....plus a hood over it, to prevent blowing rain from entering hose.

Works great and was easy to install. It was really nice of the company to give the consumer all the parts that could possibly be needed for MANY different window configurations Would definitely purchase again.
